A TURBOCHARGER DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR YOUR TRUCK The turbocharger is the lung of your engine, ensuring maximum mobility and a better fuel consumption whilst reducing pollutant emissions. Above all, it has been designed and developed for your vehicle and for your vehicle only. With another turbocharger, your engine will not be operating at its best and your fuel consumption will increase. For example, the profile of the turbine, the engine controller setting parameters and the materials used are specific to your engine and maximise its performance. The use of another turbocharger could lead to hesitation on acceleration, power which could decrease with altitude, increased fuel consumption (beyond 1%) and a warning displayed on the instrument panel because your truck would no longer meet legal emission standards (therefore, interrupting business operations). In conclusion, you would be wasting money not choosing a Renault Trucks turbocharger.

Most turbo failures are due to: ■

Failure to observe an oil change interval.

Lack of oil filter/air filter maintenance.

Defective lubrication. Hints and tips

Strictly adhere to the oil change intervals

Use Renault Trucks Oil and filters

Use Renault Trucks air filters

PRODUCT BENEFITS Cost savings ■

Your truck can complete its tasks under the best possible conditions from sea level to the highest altitudes.

Wait 90 seconds at idle before switching off the ignition

Why?

Contaminated oil, or oil that has lost its viscosity can quickly destroy the turbo bearings

Accelerated wear or failure of the turbo wheels

When you switch off the ignition, you also stop the lubrication of your turbo...

The costs of a failure

Turbo failure / ≈ €2000 Oil leak and catalyser contamination / ≈ €8000 Oil leak, engine racing and engine destruction, between €20,000 and €30,000

Increased fuel consumption Damage to the engine pistons and liners / Variable but significant costs Destruction of the engine ≈ €20,000

Gradual reduction in turbo operating life until failure / ≈ €2000 Oil leak and catalyser contamination / ≈ €8000 Oil leak, engine racing and engine destruction, between €20,000 and €30,000

ptimum fuel consumption (an unsuitable turbocharger will lead to a more than 1% increase in fuel O consumption). Maximum operating life due to appropriate maintenance.

There isn't really a reliable warning sign to detect the end of a turbo's life, it is as sudden as its conditions of use are extreme. One thing is certain, the additional costs incurred will far exceed the price of the part, and the damage will result in truck downtime and its recovery: additional costs ranging from €4000 to €20,000. Replacement of your turbocharger preventively can help secure your commitments to your customers and save you money. The experts in our Renault Trucks workshops will be able to identify the types of use likely to require preventive replacement and are there to give you the best advice about this operation.
