It is also a true off-the-beaten-path paradise, with rugged volcanic mountains, dramatic shorelines, pristine beaches, colorful coral reefs, and lush tropical forests. You’ll visit three islands — Tutuila, Ta‘ū, and Ofu — each containing sections of the National Park of American Samoa. Instead of food courts and gift shops, you’ll find blue lagoons, pristine beaches, flying foxes, red-footed boobies, green sea turtles, and small villages that follow a traditional lifestyle. In keeping with the meaning of the word Samoa, “sacred earth,” the park helps protect fa’a samoa — the customs, beliefs, and traditions of the ancient, family-centered Samoan culture. Day 1: Arrive in Pago Pago and meet up with your guide. 2: Explore Aunu'u Island and village. Enjoy traditional Samoan dance performances. 3: National Park of the American Samoa Visitor Center, plus mountains and coastlines. Look for fruit bats. Visit the National Marine Sanctuary. 4: More exploring on Tutuila. 5: Fly to Ta'ü Island and explore the "littoral zone". Boat ride to Ofu Island 6: Mountains, lagoons, coral reefs. Hike, snorkel, explore. 7: Guided hike on Ofu. Down time at the beach. Traditional umu dinner. 8. Flight to Tutuila and walking tour of Fagatogo village. Farewell dinner and flights home.
