GRADUATE ASSISTANT, FRATERNITY/SORORITY LIFE POSITION 3106 THE OFFICE OF FRATERNITY AND SORORITY LIFE The mission of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life is to enhance the quality of student life at The Florida State University by empowering members of the Greek community through advising with a developmental approach, educating with purpose, communicating with stakeholders, and cultivating collective partnerships. We advocate for the expression of ritual through the shared values of leadership, scholarship, service, and brotherhood/sisterhood within the Greek community. We strive to develop a community that enables individuals to make values based decisions, learn tangible skills and contribute to the betterment of the global community. THE POSITION The primary responsibility of this graduate assistantship is serving as Advisor to one of the four governing councils. The Graduate Assistant will also coordinate special projects for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. This assistantship offers experience in advising, assessment, curriculum design, facilitation, policy-making, and program planning. RESPONSIBILITIES  Serve as a co-advisor for one of the four governing councils and assist in their organizational development.  Assist in curriculum development and implementation of the Emerging Leaders course, Greek Leadership Summit, and Kick Off Retreat.  Serve at the advisor for Order of Omega Greek Leadership Honor Society.  Collaborate with campus partners to support the holistic development of the community.  Serve at the chapter liaison for approximately 10 organizations from all four councils. QUALIFICATIONS  Admitted in an FSU Graduate Program (Preferably Master’s in Higher Education Administration)  Ability to relate well to others, especially students and student groups  Experience in program planning and evaluation  Ability to work independently as well as part of a team  Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing  Ability to receive and follow instructions related to assigned programs and activities  Available nights and weekends For more information regarding this position, please contact Megan Janasiewicz, Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life, at mjanasiewicz@fsu.edu or 850.644.9574.
