Event Attendance: Attendance was calculated by tracking the amount of wristbands that were distributed to faculty, staff, students, and non-students (members of the community), as well as other activities. The total amount of people that attended Haunted Harvest was 8,311 Survey Results: Online surveys were emailed to participants who completed a waiver and provided their FSUID. Individualized links were emailed to 903 participants. The link to the survey was also publicized via social media, the Haunted Harvest website, and survey cards that were distributed during the event. The emails and promotions resulted in 318 respondents, a 35% response rate. Below are highlights from the survey:          

The majority of respondents were freshman (34%), female (75%), Caucasian/ White (53%), and residing on campus (56%). Out of the 98% of respondents that attended Haunted Harvest activities and completed the survey, 94% of them enjoyed Haunted Harvest overall. Friends/word of mouth (50%), flyers/ posters in residence halls (38%), and banners (34%) were the most common ways that respondents heard about Haunted Harvest (Respondents were allowed to select more than one method). The top two reasons respondents chose to attend Haunted Harvest were because they wanted to enjoy the activities (86%) and were hungry/wanted free food (75%) (Respondents were allowed to select multiple reasons). Respondents were asked if they thought participation in Haunted Harvest reduced student drinking of alcoholic beverages. 64% of respondents responded yes or maybe, while 23% responded no. The FSU S.A.F.E and/or Night Nole Bus had been used by 66% of respondents upon their arrival at FSU. The events that most respondents attended were the Food Vendors (71%) and The Fun House (54%). Other events and activities that most respondents attended were Paint-a-pot (42%), Black Light Painting (33%), and Breakfast for a Buck (29%). When asked which event was the respondent’s favorite, the most common responses were Paint-a-Pot, pumpkin carving, The Fun House, and the Circus Halloween Show. Next year, 42% of students will definitely attend Haunted harvest and 39% of respondents might attend. For next year’s Haunted Harvest, students suggested more food vendors, more rides/ entertainment activities, better decorations, and increased publicity for the event. Respondents also mentioned that the bathrooms needed attention during the event to ensure cleanliness and replenish toiletries.

Recommendations for Next Year Decorations should be purchased and incorporate with the theme of the event. All food vendors should order enough food for the time accordingly. Event planners should consider working with another company because the psychic was late and feedback was not positive. More tables are needed for events like Paint-A-Pot and Pumpkin Carving. Marketing should specify that event ends at 12:00PM and Breakfast for a Buck is the only activity until 2:00AM.
