Seal air leaks to prevent heat from escaping and cold air from entering your home. Use timers indoors and out to give your decorations—and your electric bill—a break.
Switch to a smart thermostat and save up to 15% on energy costs. Open blinds and curtains during the day to allow sunlight in to warm your home. Close blinds and curtains at night to keep out cold, drafty air. Switch to LED lights. They stay cool, use up to 80% less energy than traditional bulbs, and reduce the risk of fi re. Lower your water heater temperature to 120 degrees to prevent scalding and save energy. Avoid running cords under rugs or in places where pets might be tempted to chew.
