Pioneer Electric is currently offering a bill credit to cooperative members who purchase and install new energy-efficient electric water heaters and/or heating and cooling systems, as well as add insulation in their homes in 2023.

Rebates are only available to residential members. To qualify, incentive items must be purchased and installed between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2023.

Electric Water Heater Incentive

Earn a $150 bill credit by installing a new 50-gallon or larger electric water heater OR a $400 bill credit for installing a 55-gallon or less heat pump water heater.

Requirements: The water heater must be a new electric storage tank unit that is 92 percent efficient or greater (> 0.92 EF). Preferred but not required: 4,500-watt elements.

Members must participate in our water heater load management program and are subject to a 5-year commitment.

Attic Insulation Incentive

Earn a $200 bill credit by having attic insulation installed by a licensed contractor.

Only one incentive is permitted per residence. Pioneer reserves the right to inspect the member’s home for installation of materials listed on the application and verify the installation meets guidelines.

GEOTHERMAL INCENTIVE*

Earn up to a $900 bill credit by installing a geothermal system with either electric or fossil fuel backup.

$700 for qualifying geothermal installation

$200 for participating in Pioneer’s Cool Returns load management program

To earn a $400 bill credit, in addition to the $900 above, members must install a new, closed-loop system.

Requirements: The equipment must meet the following energy standards upon installation: Closed Loop EER 17.1, COP 3.6; Open Loop EER 21.1, COP 4.1.

HEAT PUMP INCENTIVE*

Earn up to a $500 bill credit by installing an air-source heat pump with an automatic fossil fuel (dual fuel) or electric backup.

$300 for qualifying heat pump installation

*Heat pump mini-split systems are eligible for a $200 credit. $200 for participating in Pioneer’s Cool Returns load management program

Requirements: The equipment must meet the following energy standards upon installation: ≥ 7.8 HSPF2, ≥ 15.2 SEER2

Must install the equipment in compliance with ENERGY STAR requirements.

*Qualifying dual fuel and geothermal systems may also be eligble for a rate discount.

Electric Vehicle Charger Rebate

Level 2 Charger Incentive

Earn a $250 bill credit by installing a new, unused electric vehicle — level 2 charger.

Requirements: The equipment must be in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications. A maximum of two charging port rebates per residential member, six per non-residential member.

Chargers must be wall or pedestal-mounted and installed at the member’s service address.
