Get involved! JOIN US FOR OUR ANNUAL MEETING ON APRIL 1
It’s once again that time of year! On April 1, Pioneer will host our annual meeting for you, the members we proudly serve. I always look forward to this event because it’s a great opportunity for me, our employees, and members of our board of trustees to talk with you, answer your questions, and hear your comments and concerns.
We encourage you to register and join us for our annual meeting, which will take place at Upper Valley Career Center in Piqua. For those who are unable to attend, a recording will be available on our website. As the member-owners of Pioneer, your participation and interest in our annual meeting and the feedback you provide is incredibly valuable to us.
Hearing your take on our community’s energy future is so important to us. In fact, it’s essential because everything we do is shaped by the members of our community. As I’m sure you know, the energy industry is in the midst of significant change.
Consumer needs and changing technology affect nearly every aspect of how we manage and deliver energy to homes, schools, and businesses in our service territory. As we navigate these changes in the coming years, we want to hear from you and your neighbors to help plan for the future as we strive to meet the long-term needs of our members.
During the annual meeting, we’ll share a brief cooperative update and an overview of what’s to come in 2023 and beyond. A warm breakfast will be provided for those in attendance and bill credit door prizes will be awarded. Please note: You must be in attendance to claim door prizes.
You have a say
You may be wondering if your feedback and opinions really make a difference and, we assure you, they do. Those closest to the community — that’s you — know its needs and priorities and are important in providing direction to the cooperative. Gaining guidance and perspective from our members and board helps set priorities for the cooperative and guide future decisions.
The annual meeting also marks the conclusion of our annual board of trustees and county board election process. If you haven’t voted yet, the deadline is March 24.
Our board of trustees is made up of nine members who live and work right here in our local service area, so they are in an ideal position to know where community investments are most needed. In addition, Pioneer has a total of 36 members who represent you on county nominating boards — 12 individuals for each of the three primary county areas.

Your electric bill is an investment in our community Pioneer Electric is not a typical utility company. We’re a cooperative, and our business model is meant to serve the members and the community in which we operate.
Every year, we invest in updates to our local electric distribution system, which helps maintain reliability and grid resilience. Think of it this way: Every time you pay your electric bill, you’re investing in your community and your cooperative because all the money we take in is used locally. By making these investments in our local system, we can ensure you, and the rest of the Pioneer membership, have reliable power for everyday life.
Our core purpose and mission are to provide safe, reliable and affordable power. But as a cooperative, we’re also motivated by service to our community. We hope you’ll exercise the benefits of your cooperative membership and the opportunity to be part of the conversation that keeps Pioneer moving forward by attending the annual meeting. Be sure to find registration information on the next page. We look forward to seeing you on April 1!
