In response to rising costs across the energy sector, South Central Power Company is implementing a rate adjustment to bring rates more in line with the cost of delivering power. Starting April 1, our monthly consumer charge will increase by $3, from $19 to $22 for residential members and from $22 to $25 for commercial general service members.

The rate at which we calculate your distribution charge is also changing. For residential members, the change is as follows:

For the average residential member, this will represent an increase of 2.6 percent.

As the cost of nearly everything continues to rise, we know a rate adjustment isn’t welcome news to our members. However, we can say with confidence that our electricity remains a bargain compared to many of the other things we use in our daily lives. Additionally, while bills are rising for South Central Power members, they aren’t rising as quickly or dramatically as they are for many consumers served by other power companies across Ohio. Our investments in owning our own power generation, in conjunction with other power cooperatives, is serving as a hedge against even higher costs consumers are facing elsewhere.
