You must have a SmartHub account to use this feature. Download the free SmartHub app in the App Store or Google Play.

To be eligible for outage texting, your cell phone number must be listed as a contact in SmartHub. To do so, sign in to your SmartHub account and select Notifications > Manage Contacts > Add Phone Contact. It will take up to 48 hours for a new phone number to be recognized by the outage notification system.

Two-way outage texting is not available for members with multiple Butler Rural Electric Cooperative accounts.

Energy Efficiency Tip of the Month

The location of your thermostat can affect your HVAC system’s ability to maintain an ideal indoor temperature. For maximum accuracy, thermostats should be placed in the center of the home, away from air vents, plumbing pipes, and exterior doors. Avoid placing items like lamps and televisions near your thermostat, as they can cause the HVAC to run longer than necessary. Avoid installing thermostats in rooms that tend to feel warmer or colder than the rest of the home. Don’t place furniture, which can block airflow and result in inaccurate readings, in front of the thermostat.
