GUERNSEY-MUSKINGUM ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE CURRENTLY SPEAKING Congratulations 2023 scholarship winners!

Each year since 1954, Guernsey-Muskingum Electric Cooperative, Inc., has sponsored scholarship awards to high school seniors. The cooperative awards six scholarships, ranging from $600 to $1,100.

On February 25, 30 students from 11 high schools competed for the scholarships, with points given for scholastic record, personal achievement, school and community activities, and a personal interview. Judges for this year were Brian Bennett, Kari Burkey, and Dr. Barb Hansen.

First-place winner, receiving a $1,100 scholarship, was Alivia Lake from John Glenn High School. Alivia’s parents are Dana and Holly Lake of Chandlersville.

Second-place winner, receiving a $1,000 scholarship, was Rachel Nay from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Home School. Rachel’s parents are Kyle and Elizabeth Nay of Port Washington.

Third-place winner, receiving a $900 scholarship, was Marlie Moner from Newcomerstown High School. Marlie’s parents are Corey and Kelly Moner of Newcomerstown.

Fourth-place winner, receiving an $800 scholarship, was Hans Holmes from Tri-Valley High School. Hans’s parents are Adam and Christina Holmes of Nashport.

Fifth-place winner, receiving a $700 scholarship, was Josie Fabian from Cambridge High School. Josie’s parents are Scott Fabian and Angela Bell of Cambridge.

Sixth-place winner, receiving a $600 scholarship, was McKenzie Pitcock from Maysville High School/Mid-East Career Center-Buffalo. McKenzie’s parents are Tim and Cindy Pitcock of Roseville.
