YOUTH TOUR 2023

Youth Tour. Wow, what an experience! My name is Kirsten Campbell and I was the Youth Tour Delegate for Adams Rural Electric Cooperative. This was definitely an experience of a lifetime. Our trip started at Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives in Columbus. While at OEC, I would come to meet some of my best friends that would become like family. Our first stop before arriving in Washington, D.C., was Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. In Gettysburg, we took a bus tour. I found this tour to be interesting. I had heard about Gettysburg but had never known a lot of the history. After Gettysburg, we headed for Washington, D.C., where we would spend the remainder of our trip.

When we arrived in D.C., everyone from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association was very welcoming. Everyone there wanted us to have a great time. Each day in D.C. was packed. Some of my favorite things included meeting with our Ohio senators, touring the Capitol building, and getting to visit the many memorials that are in D.C. Not only did we get to travel and tour D.C. but we also learned more about electric co-ops. Since visiting D.C., I have a great appreciation for electric co-ops and everything they do for the rural communities of Ohio. I had such a great time on Youth Tour and will cherish the memories and friendships that I made. Thank you, Adams Rural Electric, for the opportunity of a lifetime!
