Type3

Introduction Objective After reading this document, users will be able to use functionalities of Type3 to put text and symbol on parts. They will be familiar with Vectorization, Text mode and all mapping functions. Users are required to have knowledge of catia mechanical design package, Solid Design and Generative Shape Design (MD2). Basic knowledge of Catia functions and familiar with sketch and part design, in combination with basic Generative Shape Design functions.

Create curves from pictures best practis Vectorize Color fusion: With ctrl select 2 or more color to merge Try parameters if the are many different shades in the picture Before OK select with Ctrl 1 or more colors to create conturs from. (maby you only need one color) Type3 creates an Open body with the 2D curves positioned by default in XY plane.

Before wrapping You got the text or profile for wrapping. Create a coordinate system with X in the text direction, Y is text up and Z in the direction in screen when you see the text right. Extrakt the surface to wrap on. Wrap Parallel projection Create a point and a coordinat system on the surface you want to use. Cylindrical mapping Create 2 points defining the cylinder axis Create 1 point defining the cylinder surface Create 1 point defining the placement of the text Conical mapping Create 2 points defining the cylinder axis Create 2 point defining the cone surface Create 1 point defining the placement of the text Coordinatesystem 13 3/1/2010

Create solid There are different wayes to create a solid depending on what you want to create. Create a closed surface from extrudes and offses Make a solid from a surface using thick Using pad or pocket to create solid.

Before using the mapping project it onto the surface. This is better than change the accuracy of the mapping whitch is 0.1 as a default. Go to GSD workbench

Use project Uncheck nearest solution
