Our Learning Philosophy

Our learning philosophy presents a modern twist on the best language proficiency methods:

Production Reception Mediation

Students learn how to speak English and communicate in any context that is required.

Students learn how to receive language - receive the information, comprehend it, and take a meaningful action.

Students learn how to have back-and-forth conversations where they can produce, receive, understand, and effectively respond to language.

The Oxford International Student Journey

FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL

Students receive a warm welcome at their accommodation, and personally meet with the School Director of Studies, support staff, and instructors. They also enjoy a welcome tour of the school and local area, as well as receive information on supporting programmes and special activities they can enjoy during their time with us.

COLLABORATIVE COURSE REVIEW

Students have the opportunity to individually meet with their instructors on a bi-weekly basis to review their progress and performance. As part of our premium service, students also have access to the Director of Studies for additional support and guidance.

PERSONALISED STUDY PLAN

Our instructors provide continuous feedback and opportunities for students to identify their own strengths and areas for improvement, building student confidence and their ability to become independent learners outside of the classroom. Backed by our Virtual Learning Campus, which adapts to each student’s individual needs, students will receive the highest quality of personalised education.

CONTINUOUS LEARNING

Through our extensive social programme, students get to meet and mix with their peers in informal, fun environments to practice their English language skills while exploring the local culture. Students can also collaborate in the Study Club to further develop and practice their English language skills in a group setting.

LEARNING OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM

Instructors provide regularly-scheduled tutorials for students to identify English language goals, map out the steps needed to achieve those goals, and check-in on progression. This collaborative peer-to-student approach helps students lead their own learning journey and stay on track.

CUSTOMISED LEARNING

By leveraging our excellent elective syllabus and tutorials throughout their studies, students can have a personalised learning experience. This includes learning new study skills, academic English, English language skills for business, and more.

FORMAL ASSESSMENTS

Students benefit from continuous practice and formal speaking assessments every two weeks to identify and close any language skills gaps. There are also weekly opportunities to assess if they are ready to move onto the next level. Our educators develop and provide our high-quality assessments, and many of our instructors are IELTS examiners or have developed our English Language Level Test (Oxford ELLT).

GRADUATION

Once students complete the programme, they receive official certificates of completion and can choose to take a formal English language test for personal, professional, or educational purposes.

OI ALUMNI PROGRAMME

Just because a student has graduated from our programme, it doesn’t mean their journey is over! Not only do we give our students additional access to the Virtual Learning Campus, but they are also invited to join the Oxford International Alumni programme with access to newsletters and events. We love to stay in touch with our students and learn about their continued success!

Learning Doesn’t End in the Classroom

We believe some of the most important learning happens outside the classroom. That’s why our students enjoy a range of extracurricular activities and excursions, allowing you to explore the rich culture and history of your host city. From guided city tours to social events, these experiences not only provide a deeper understanding of the local community and its traditions, but they also help you enhance your language skills while developing lifelong friendships.

Personalised Learning and Academic Support

Our language courses are designed to provide you with a personalised, supportive, and dynamic learning environment. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced learner, our expert instructors will guide you every step of the way, tailoring their teaching methods to meet your individual needs. Through interactive lessons, engaging activities, group work, and authentic materials, we ensure that you develop the necessary language skills to confidently communicate in English and achieve your language learning goals.

On Course Progression

At Oxford International, academic progression is at the heart of our language schools. We invite you to dive into an enriching student life experience while enjoying exceptional opportunities for advancing your educational journey.

Driving Student Success

Prior to arrival, each student is given access to our Virtual Learning Campus (VLC), an online learning environment that supports students’ learning journey outside the classroom and facilitates a hybrid learning environment throughout the course. In addition, students receive a personalised programme, library and book access for each school, and 1:1 tutoring sessions to ensure each student gets the most out of their time with us.
