Carrie L. Mitchell is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professor in the field of Education and in acknowledgment of her work at the Michigan Association of Colleges and Siena Heights University.

Dr. Carrie L. Mitchell is a respected Professor with over 25 years of teaching experience. Dr. Mitchell has taught as an Associate Professor of Education at Siena Heights University for the past ten years. She is involved with the school as a Chairperson of the University’s Special Education Department (founded in 2012). Dr. Mitchell is known for her expertise in genetic disorders and neurological disorders, and is a passionate advocate for people with disabilities.

At Siena Heights University, students have access to affordable and student-focused education. The school has recently been awarded two Best Online Programs awards from US News and World Report for their Bachelor’s degree and Veteran’s Bachelor’s degree programs. Highly involved with the University, Dr. Mitchell is the Chairperson of the Siena Heights University Institutional Review Board Committee. Dr. Mitchell has authored degree programs and certification programs for Siena Heights University. She is proud to educate the next generation of Special Education teachers using her 25 years of experience in the field.

She is professionally affiliated with the Directors and Representatives of Teacher Education Programs, the Michigan Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, and the Council for Exceptional Children.

Before pursuing her career in Education, Dr. Mitchell attended the University of Toledo, where she earned both a Master’s degree and a Doctor of Education degree.

She has been recognized for her professional excellence by 24-7 Press Release in 2021 and in the Reflections section of the Online Magazine for Alumni and Friends of Siena Heights University. She was nominated for the Siena Heights University Outstanding Professor Award twice in recognition of her valuable contributions to her students and fellow colleagues.

Dr. Mitchell attributes her success to her passion for her job, and enjoying her work with her students and fellow educators. As she plans her future, Dr. Mitchell plans to continue to contribute to professional journals, and will retire soon.

Jill Platt

President/Principal Notre Dame Prep Academy Scottsdale, Arizona

Jill Platt is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Top Executive in the field of Education and in acknowledgment for her roles as President & Principal at Notre Dame Preparatory.

Revered as a leader in her field, Ms. Platt has 26 years of experience thriving in teaching and academic administration. She encompasses vast knowledge and experience as an executive leader and strategic developer. Ms. Platt’s acclaimed career began as a teacher and registrar for Xavier College Preparatory from 1994-1998. Later, she transferred to Brophy College Preparatory, working as an educational technology administrator from 1998 until the mid-2000s. Shifting to academic administration, Ms. Platt served as vice-principal of Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School; an associate principal of Gorden Tech High School and the vice principal of Alphonsus Academy & Center for the Arts. In more recent years, Ms. Platt has gained valuable expertise in her role as an adjunct professor at DePaul University. She had also thrived as the president and principal of All Hallows Academy.

An academic scholar, Ms. Platt completed her undergraduate studies at Northern Arizona University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in speech communication and business. In 2001, continued her studies with a Master of Education in Curriculum and instruction from Arizona State University. Later, she graduated from Loyola University obtaining her Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration in 2009.

To further her professional development, Ms. Platt maintains active affiliations with the National Catholic Educators Association, the Principals Round Table for Growing Leaders and the National Association for Secondary Principals.

In recognition of her early professional successes, Ms. Platt was presented with the Technology Integration Award from the National Catholic Educators Association in 2000.

Michael Thomas

President, CEO The English High School Association of Boston Dedham, MA

Michael Thomas is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Lifetime Achiever for his work in Fundraising and in acknowledgment of his work as the President and CEO of the English High School Association of Boston.

Michael Thomas is the President and CEO of the oldest public high school in America, the English High School in Boston, MA. Mr. Thomas has gained experience throughout 22 years in the fields of consulting and mortgage marketing, and is currently working as a Fundraiser for his alma mater.

Extensively educated, Mr. Thomas first attended Boston English High School, where he was on the honor roll and participated in many high school and college preparatory school activities. He was the Class President, co-captain of the varsity baseball team, and co-captain of the undefeated varsity football team. He began college at Harvard University in 1968, where he was the captain of the varsity baseball team and led them to the College World Series in 1971. Here he was also a member of the prestigious Harvard Standing Committee on Athletics. After graduating from Harvard University in 1972, he attended Columbia University in the City of New York from 1978-1980, graduating with a degree in Marketing and Marketing Management.

Mr. Thomas started his own company, Thomas Associates, in 1993. He provided boutique consulting and guidance for high-profile clients such as Land ‘O Lakes, Polaroid, Ocean Spray, BCBS of Western NY, IBM, Gillette, and others. He worked as a Mortgage Loan Originator at First Mortgage Trust Inc. from 2001-2009, and then worked as the Senior Loan Originator at Envoy Mortgage from 2010-2017. In 2009, Mr. Thomas began working as the President of the English High School Alumni Association in West Roxbury, MA. He also became a Fundraiser for the school in 2018, where he educates alumni on the advances the school has made in programing, graduation rates, MCAS, and school culture changes.

In 2021, the school celebrated its 200th anniversary. Mr. Thomas is currently leading efforts to get in contact with about 9,000 alumni to invite them to the school’s virtual birthday party and encourage networking amongst former students. Interviewed by the Mission Hill Gazette about the event, he said, “We’re asking class leaders to redouble their efforts to locate as many fellow alumni as possible before the virtual birthday party. There’s a fresh sense of excitement in the air at English and we want everyone to participate.” Former alumni include famous names like Leonard Nimoy, Herb Chambers, and Frank Bellottis.

Among his accomplishments, Mr. Thomas is proud of guiding the school’s board towards strategic goals and gaining rapport and credibility with alumni members as he organizes the 200th birthday event. He has given numerous interviews about himself and his role at the school to publications such as the Mission Hill Gazette, WBSM, the Daily Voice, and the Boston Globe.

In his spare time, Mr. Thomas enjoys golfing, walking, lifting weights, and traveling the world. He is a member of the Harvard Club and the Adams Farm Gardening Club in Walpole, MA.

Wanda M. McCargo

CEO/Founder Wanda’s Little Hands Educational Center, Inc. Raleigh, NC

Wanda M. McCargo is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Distinguished Executive for her work in the field of Education and in acknowledgment of her work at Wanda’s “Little Hands” Educational Center, Inc.

Wanda’s “Little Hands” Education Center (WLHEC) was established in 1996 by Willie and Wanda McCargo. As a 5-star facility, they strive to create a safe, diverse, loving, and nurturing environment where children can thrive. The staff members are each qualified in either Early Childhood experience, CPR/First Aid certified, or completing ongoing training. WLHEC is a North Carolina Pre-K program site, and is associated with the Wake County Smart Start Program and the Telamon Early Head Start Program.

The children learn about fun and age-appropriate topics like weather, fairy tales, fruits and vegetables, being thankful, and make-believe. They recently grew greens in the school’s garden to add to their lunches, and had a fall festival to celebrate WLHEC’s 25th year in business.

Ms. McCargo has been awarded numerous times for her work with the City of Raleigh Community Hero award, Childcare Center Program of the Year by Public School Forum of NC Afterschool Programs, Everyday Hero/ Humanitarian award by Wendell Chapter Top Teens of America, and The Youth Outreach Award by The Light 103.9 Lamplighter Award.

Ms. McCargo is in partnership with the Wake County Smart Start NC Pre-K program, RSVP/FGP (Retired Senior Volunteers/Foster Grandparent), Farm to Childcare, and Early Head Start (EHS) program. She is the Founder of the non-profit program Southeast Raleigh Community Learning Center, Inc. (SERCLC), which serves underprivileged afterschool students and their families.

Suzi Freeman

Suicide Prevention Specialist The Suicide Prevention Project Gilbert, AZ

Suzi Freeman, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Distinguished Certified Suicide Prevention Specialist and acknowledging her work at The Suicide Prevention Project.

Ms. Freeman has been a serial entrepreneur for over twelve years. She has created numerous companies centered around suicide prevention in different forms, from launching a children’s anti-bullying group to The Suicide Prevention Project, which provides training to businesses, schools, and families. Ms. Freeman has expertise in reducing lethal means as a method of suicide prevention, which she often discusses and advocates for in her businesses.

Suzi excels at suicide recognition and prevention training, Mental Strength Training and will be launching the SAD Reduction Method in early 2022, a mental resilience course to help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.

After working as a Manager of Accounting at Desert West Builders for nine years, Ms. Freeman founded Freeman Enterprises LLC of AZ in 2010. She launched a new business, Suzi Freeman & Companies, in 2018, where she continues to work as a Suicide Prevention Specialist, mentor, writer, and professional speaker. Ms. Freeman is certified as a QPR Instructor, an Online Counseling and Suicide Intervention Specialist (OCSIS), and a Certified Mental Strengths Trainer.

In 2021, Ms. Freeman founded her recent endeavor, the nonprofit organization The 571 Project. She advocates for active military members and young people and provides family suicide prevention recognition and training classes.

Ms. Freeman’s ten-year-old twins have founded the Limitless Girl Power program to educate children ages 9-16 in bullying and self-confidence, provide mentorship, and facilitate community groups.

Ms. Freeman is the founder of a Real Estate company, where she manages and owns both short-term rentals, single-family and multi-family buildings. In addition, she is an Executive Contributor to BrainZ Magazine.

A highlight of her career has been giving a TEDx talk in October 2021 to raise awareness about Suicidal Ideation. Ms. Freeman has been awarded and honored for her important work in suicide prevention. She has been recognized for her suicide prevention work with youth and military as Mrs. Elite Arizona for Women of Achievement in 2022. Looking to the future, she aims to train over 1,000 military families in 2022 to recognize and prevent suicides.

She is also a volunteer with the Blue Star Mothers of America as the local chapter Financial Secretary, and she sits on the National Board Finance Committee. In addition, she volunteers with Hire Heroes as a Career Counselor for veterans and their families. When she isn’t working, Ms. Freeman likes to relax lakeside and spend quality time with her three daughters and two sons, one in the US Navy and a police officer.

William McBride, Ph.D.

Distinguished Professor Purdue University Lafayette, IN

William McBride, Ph.D., is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Trusted Educator for his remarkable contributions to the field of Education and in recognition of his role as an Arthur G. Hansen Distinguished Professor at Purdue University.

Garnering over fifty years of experience in the field of education, Dr. William McBride has led an impressive career. Throughout his acclaimed career, Dr. McBride has gained extensive expertise in the areas of Social and Political Philosophy, Legal Philosophy, and Continental European Philosophy. In his previous years, Dr. McBride taught at Yale University for nearly a decade and has lectured at Northwestern University, Sofia University in Bulgaria, and the Korcula Summer School.

Encountering people with a different professional orientation that they have thought superior to all others, Dr. McBride distinguishes this crucial factor as one of the prime challenges he has faced throughout his career. When asked his advice to newcomers in the industry, Dr. McBride notes the importance of retaining a commitment to the truth as he or she sees it, and not be daunted by initial setbacks, if such there are, in seeking employment.

An academic scholar, Dr. McBride earned an AB from Georgetown University. Thereafter, Dr. McBride attended the University of Lille from 1959 to 1960, where he was a Fulbright Fellow. Later, Dr. McBride attended Yale University where he obtained his Master of Arts degree as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow in 1962. He then went on to receive his Ph.D. at Yale in 1964 and was awarded a Social Science Research Council Fellowship.

Remaining abreast of the latest industry developments, Dr. McBride is an active member of several international and national scholarly organizations including the International Federation of Philosophical Societies (FISP), of which he was President from 2008-2013; the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences; and the North American Society for Social Philosophy, of which he is a former President.

In light of his professional achievements, Dr. McBride has been recognized by several elite organizations for his exemplary work in the field including Who’s Who in America; Who’s Who in America Education; Who’s Who in the Midwest; Who’s Who in the World. He served as the first American Secretary-General and then President of the International Federation of Philosophical Societies (FISP), and gained an immense amount of international connections that led to these positions. Dr. McBride has established himself as a prominent figure in professional philosophy.

A respected voice in his field, Dr. McBride is well-known for sharing his breadth of expertise. He is the author of several written works including “From Yugoslav Praxis to Global Pathos,” “Social and Political Philosophy,” and “Social Theory at a Crossroads.”

In his spare time, Dr. McBride enjoys traveling and considers himself a news buff.

In looking to the future, Dr. McBride hopes to publish at least one more book, preferably more, while continuing professional involvement globally.
