Service Guide& Places to go, things to do. Even home and school options. We’ve got you covered! Intrigue Wines Buying and sharing a bottle of wine should be fun, easy and enjoyable for everyone. At Intrigue, our goal is to eliminate the intimidation factor for those new to the experience, making high quality wines accessible to everyone. Come and share in our enthusiasm! Our award-winning boutique winery is beautifully located on the stunning Scenic Sip Wine Route north of Kelowna. We’ve incorporated building materials recovered from on-site heritage structures into our tasting room; these efforts to respect our local history have earned Intrigue a community heritage award nomination. Along with supporting numerous local charity

events, this year we’re donating a portion of the proceeds from one of our new varietals to the Canadian Lymphoma Society. Our “Damitz Good” label plays tribute to a friend who lost his battle to the disease. Intrigue now has a picnic area, so please join us for light picnic fare in our vineyard. We’re making additional improvements to enhance this area for larger celebrations, and are now hosting a few trial weddings. One of our new products, a bubbly wine perfect for such events—and suitably named “I Do”—is available this August. Find us at 2291 Goldie Road in Lake Country, daily from 10 to 6. Visit www.intriguewines.ca.

Synthetic lawn at YMCA Little Scholars Child Care Centre.

SYNLawn Okanagan Ltd SYNLawn Okanagan specializes in the supply and installation of synthetic grass ground covers for front and back yards, pet areas, pool surrounds, rooftop patios, putting greens—and playgrounds. We recently partnered volunteers and other contributors to provide a surface makeover at the YMCA’s Little Scholars Day Care and Preschool. This project was an exciting opportunity to give back to our community, and childcare director Colleen Keeler says the new synthetic lawn means the kids can be outside more, there will be less wear and tear from many little feet, and their children will be safe from falls. See more of our work on the City of Kelowna median and Boucherie Road in West Kelowna, or visit us at www.synlawn.ca and 140-948 McCurdy Road in Kelowna.

Service Guide& Twin Anchors Houseboat Vacations Live life on the lake! Chillin’ out with friends and family on Shuswap Lake aboard a Twin Anchors houseboat is one vacation you need to have on your Bucket List. Twin Anchors is a family owned business that has been providing memorable vacations on Shuswap Lake since 1977 — that’s over 35 years of happy houseboaters. Float, cruise, play, relax, soak up the rays and spend time with the ones you love. Sit back and relax as we load your gear and show you the ropes. Then take the wheel, crank the tunes, head out on the lake and have a great time doing a lot — or nothing at all. You can choose to depart from our marinas in Sicamous or Salmon Arm and we have boats to fit groups of all sizes from 2 to 24 — most with hot tubs and fireplaces. The houseboat season runs from April to the end of October. Guests can choose from 3-, 4- or 7-night vacations. When you arrive at our marina, our porters load up your bedding, food, beverages and other gear right from your vehicles and deliver them straight to your boat. Of course, on your return, they are there to greet you and take it all back to your vehicle. Our legendary service and luxurious houseboats continue to impress our guests while exploring the rugged and dramatic terrain that is home to some of the best houseboating in North America. Crafting single vineyard wines of excellence

Stag's Hollow cellar and future tasting room.

Stag’s Hollow Winery Established in 1995, Stag’s Hollow Winery is nestled in the hills of Okanagan Falls in the South Okanagan. This area’s microclimate and soils provide superb growing conditions, making it one of the prime viticulture areas in the Okanagan. Stag’s Hollow produces some of BC’s highest quality, most distinctive wines. Always innovative, and with a spirit to be unique and push the limits of winemaking in the Okanagan, the winemaking team has researched and sought out grapes suited to the area soils and microclimate. These varietals, not commonly grown in the Okanagan, include Tempranillo and Albarino from Spain, Grenache and Marsanne from the Rhone Valley, and Dolcetto from Italy. Once made into wines, either on their own or part of a blend, these unique varietals will offer a new experience for Okanagan wine lovers. Wines are produced under three labels: Stag’s Hollow Estate wines, ready to drink upon release; premium Renaissance wines, made from exceptional vintages; and the Winemaker’s Cachet label, which showcases the winemaker’s passion and creativity, usually made from lesserknown varietals or from high quality wines vinified in a unique way. More at www.stagshollowwinery.com.

At their distillery, Anette and Jorg Engel toast the new license that allows them to sell directly to restaurants in BC.

In traditional French Burgundy style we focus on small case lots of excellent wine, expressive of their unique place of origin. This single vineyard production allows us to showcase wines that demonstrate unique expressions of terroir. We have 19 acres under vine and focus on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. To produce the best wines we use the best barrels, absolute care and attention to detail and the best winemaking protocols. As you sip each wine from Meyer Family Vineyards, imagine that it reflects the soil, the sun, the people and the location of the beautiful Okanagan Valley. www.mfvwines.com.

College to turn 50 On Sept. 28, 1963, W.A.C. Bennett officially opened the B.C. Vocational School. Through amalgamations and growth, including the development of Okanagan College and OUC, the institution has delivered valuable training to tens of thousands of students and helped communities throughout the region with economic, social and cultural development. Our former students and friends have spread around the world and we’re inviting them back for a fun, informal party on Sept. 27, 2013. We’re also asking them to connect with us and relate stories from their time at Okanagan College, OUC or the B.C.

As Okanagan College celebrates its 50th anniversary this fall, it honours five decades of history, including the first graduating class of practical nurses from 1964.
