The “Westside” of Kelowna is made up of two unique jurisdictions with intermingled borders, the City of West Kelowna and Westbank First Nation (WFN). The City of West Kelowna, incorporated in 2007, includes the communities of Westbank, Shannon Lake, Glenrosa, Casa Loma, West Kelowna Estates, Rose Valley and Lakeview Heights. The WFN includes the communities of West Harbour, Bayview, Sonoma Pines, Sage Creek, Copper Sky, Westlake Estates and Sun Village.

The "rural sophistication" of this lakeside community makes it a popular destination. Gellatly Bay wharf now has a new halfmillion dollar replica wharf and includes 2 lighted towers, a 3 metre high jumping platform, a zipline and a floating platform. WELCOME TO PEACHLAND Peachland is situated on the shores of Okanagan Lake 10km south of West Kelowna and directly opposite Squally Point in Okanagan Mountain Park. A quaint lakeside community of 5,079 people, Peachland offers some of the Valley's most spectacular lake views. Its downtown core on Beach Avenue sits on the waterfront. There is a tranquil promenade that parallels the road and allows visitors and locals alike to explore shops, boutiques and popular restaurants. Parking is free all along Beach Avenue. A true treasure lies just south of Kelowna, Myra Canyon, a lovingly restored section of the Kettle Valley Railway Trail originally completed in 1916. This 19km (12mi) round trip journey takes you over 18 wooden trestles and through two tunnels as you enjoy commanding views of the horseshoe shaped valley from 3000 ft above Kelowna (915m). This gently sloped trail is accessible for hikers and bikers and is also dog friendly. It has been described as one of the most beautiful sections of the Trans Canada Trail.

Catch a glimpse of the Ogopogo! The Okanagan First Nation people originally referred to “Ogopogo” as “nx̌aʔxʔitkʷ” (n’haa-itk), which translates to “sacred spirit of the lake”. The spirit of the lake was to be honoured and respected and by doing so, travellers on the waters would be protected. There are many stories of encounters with the creature, both positive and negative and its home was said to have been located near Rattlesnake Island. Look for our resident lake creature among the waves or simply visit the Ogopogo statue in Kelowna for a photo op.
