LEADERSHIP NOTES
Oklahoma City: Low on Cost, High on Value In March, Oklahoma City was recognized as having the lowest business costs among U.S. metros with a population of 1 million or greater. This impressive statistic joins a number of other accolades highlighting the benefits of living and working in Oklahoma City. Every month our list of accolades – which you can check out at www.okcchamber.com/accolades – continues to grow, proving that the hard work of the Chamber, City and business community is paying off in a big way. As a Chamber, our sights are set on creating a great future for this city – making today’s actions the building blocks for our future Roy H. Williams President & CEO successes. With Oklahoma City’s star continuing to rise, our job as a Chamber gets a little easier. In a difficult economy, having our city’s name in the headline is a huge advantage. I’m sure anyone on our Economic Development and Convention & Visitors Bureau teams would tell you that these accomplishments certainly give us a leg up on the competition. But no matter how long that list may get, our work as a Chamber is never done. In order for Oklahoma City to continue its momentum, we must continue to work diligently to maintain our successes and strive to strengthen and grow our economy. An important way the Chamber builds its resources to do the work that drives this city forward is our Total Resource Development Campaign (TRDC), which runs through the end of July. By offering value-added marketing opportunities to our members, we help grow connections and networks in the business community, while strengthening our membership. With more than 4,500 members, 80 percent of which are small businesses, the Chamber’s publications and events reach a broad audience. Get your company more exposure by sponsoring a Chamber event, build brand recognition by advertising in our publications or promote your products

CVB MOVES OFFICES The Convention and Visitors Bureau, a division of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber, has moved from their location at the corner of Robinson and Sheridan to the Chamber offices at 123 Park Ave. “By having all divisions of the Chamber under one roof we can better utilize our efforts to move Oklahoma City forward,” said Roy H. Williams, Chamber President & CEO. “The CVB does a phenomenal job of marketing our city to potential visitors, and we expect to see the numbers of visitors to Oklahoma City continue to improve.” To continue their efforts of providing quality information to visitors, the CVB has opened a new Visitor Information Center in the northeast corner of the Cox Convention Center. The Visitor Center is staffed and stocked with everything to help visitors discover what Oklahoma City has to offer – attraction brochures, Visitors Guides, maps and more. The center is open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Extended hours will occur on nights and weekends during downtown or Bricktown activities.

OKC COMPANIES FEATURED ON RADIO SHOW
“Companies make marketing far too complicated and miss hundreds of marketing opportunities every day because they don’t think like a marketer,” said Sonnier. “When you think like a marketer, it’s easy to know how to act and communicate like one – so you stand out, get noticed and get results.” Executives of Standing Out with Lauron Sonnier contacted the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber’s Public Relations team for help in identifying companies that might benefit from receiving live marketing consulting on the show. The show chose four companies – ELC Roundtable, Premium Impact, QuiBids, and Red River Photo Services – to participate on the show.
These companies are all “up and comers” and represent a variety of industries. ELC Roundtable is a peer-to-peer organization of entrepreneurs, leaders and CEOs. Working to help its members be successful in business and life, ELC provides its members with the opportunity to share new ideas and learned experiences through weekly meetings. Premium Impact focuses on helping entrepreneurs get their products and services into the hands of clients through sales and marketing efforts. QuiBids is an online penny auction site that launched in October 2009 by Matt Beckham, CEO. As part of a new and growing industry, the company is working to better educate the public on how penny auctions work in order to further grow their business. Red River Photo Services offers photography services to several advertising agencies as well as photographers and fine artists. To listen to past shows, visit www.voiceamericabusiness.com.
May 2010 - Greater Oklahoma City Chamber The Point!
Four Greater Oklahoma City companies were recently featured on Standing Out with Lauron Sonnier, a radio show on the VoiceAmerica Business channel. This show airs weekly and teaches entrepreneurs, small business owners and managers how to be smart, aggressive marketers and how to “stand out for outstanding results in business and life.”
