FIRST-YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS Upon admission to the university, OCU students are eligible to receive first-year academic merit awards, ranging from $2,000/year to $4,000/year. The priority deadline is March 1. Priority deadline is March 1. Students who are admitted to the Wanda L. Bass School of Music, the School of Theatre, and the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment are eligible to audition and/or interview for talent scholarships.

All university scholarships require full-time enrollment of 12-16 credit hours per semester.

AMERICAN INDIAN SCHOLARSHIP American Indian Scholars join OCU’s active Native community, which hosts annual American Indian Heritage Month activities, an annual spring competition powwow, and other cultural events throughout the year. Native scholars also participate in the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference (OIMC), which was founded by the Cherokee, Creek and Choctaw tribes in 1844. Recipients receive block tuition, standard room and board, and membership in the President’s Leadership Class.

ESPORTS SCHOLARSHIP Students wishing to compete on our varsity level Esports team are eligible for talent-based scholarship a wards. Scholarship amounts vary and are stackable with other university merit scholarships.

OCULEADS: PRESIDENT’S LEADERSHIP CLASS SCHOLARSHIP Available to first-year students graduating from an Oklahoma high school who show strong leadership skills. Students must have a minimum of a 3.25 GPA. The $1,000 award will be offered to 10 incoming first-year students.

CLARA LUPER SCHOLARSHIP Oklahoma City University’s Clara Luper Scholarship program honors this Oklahoma City civil rights leader by providing a private college education to deserving students. Scholars from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds with demonstrated financial need continue Luper’s legacy of commitment to high academic achievement and community service. Recipients receive block tuition, standard room and board, and membership in the President’s Leadership Class.

WORLD HOUSE SCHOLARS All World House Scholars will participate in service-learning projects each year, complete courses addressing issues of peace, justice, and ecological sustainability and are required to complete at least one approved international education experience while at Oklahoma City University.

COMPETIVE SCHOLARSHIPS Your application for admission is also your application for competitive scholarships. Deadlines and details are below. If you would like to be considered for competitive scholarships, you must be admitted to the university and submit a resume and additional letter of recommendation by the February 1 priority deadline.

SCHOOL OF MUSIC • Students have the opportunity to train with world-class faculty, including internationally renowned orchestra conductor Jeff Grogan. • 250+ events staged per year, ranging from solo recitals to full-scale choral and orchestral works, as well as numerous opera and music theater productions. • Our alumni have earned Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Awards, and national recognition in the fields of education, composition, conducting, and arts leadership. • We are an all-Steinway school, home to 141 Steinway pianos.

• Innovative collaborations with regional, national, and international partners. • Our Oklahoma Opera and Music Theater Company was honored in 2018 with a first-place production award from the National Opera Association, its seventh national NOA award in the past six years. • Music majors have the unique opportunity to double major. • Instrumentalists can audition for talent awards before applying for admission.

Non-music majors can participate in instrumental music.


SCHOOL OF THEATRE

• Upon admission to the School of Theatre, students automatically become part of the TheatreOCU company and can audition for four main stage productions each year. TheatreOCU also produces eight Stage II productions, allowing more stage time for performance majors and hands-on opportunities for the design and production majors. • The School of Theatre produces and supports more productions than any other undergraduate program in the United States. • Ranked in OnStage Blog’s Top 30 College Design/Tech BFA Programs in each of the past two years • Four showcases for performing arts seniors: NYC, LA, Dallas & Chicago. • Numerous opportunities for students to work with visiting professionals and with our local professional industry partners. • Named “Best Theatre College in Oklahoma” three years in a row (OnStage). • Through a partnership with Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, School of Theatre students have the opportunity to work alongside members of Actor’s Equity Association.

ANN LACY SCHOOL OF AMERICAN DANCE & ENTERTAINMENT • We have produced 57+ Broadway performers in 86 Broadway shows, and 49 Radio City Rockettes. • 219+ companies employ our graduates. • 90+ graduates have performed on national or international tours. • Top 30 Dance Programs in the Country for 2019-2020 (Onstage). • Named one of the Top 10 Dance Conservatories to Consider for College (Backstage). • “The best preparatory dance program in the nation” - K.C.
