Lunch Hour Entertainment To be held at SGSC, Waycross Campus from noon till 1:00pm:

Evaluation Contest: August 5th Humorous Speech Contest: August 12th Quote of the Month “Dr. Albert Bandura … points out that to encourage people to attempt something they fear, you must provide rapid positive feedback that builds self– confidence. You achieve this by providing short-term, specific easy, and low-stakes goals that specify the exact steps a person should take. Take complex tasks and make them simple; long tasks and make them short; vague tasks and make them specific; and high-stakes tasks and make them risk free.” Influencer, by Joseph Grenny et al; page 132.

Word Power One role of the Grammarian at a Toastmasters club is to listen and give feedback on the usage of the English language and bring a word of the day. These are some words we have used at our meetings: Allegiant (adj.)- faithful, loyal Arduous (adj.) - difficult, tiring Gauche (adj.) - socially awkward Severity (noun): harshness

Role of Club Secretary The Secretary is the custodian of club records: 1. Maintains membership roster. 2. Keeps club files. 3. Records meeting minutes. 4. Greets members and guests. 5. Attends club executive meetings. 6. Attends Club Officers’ training. 7. Handles club correspondence. 8. Arranges for assistance when needed. We welcome our newest member, Kathi Murray. Our club President, Steve Pearce, presented Kathi with her Toastmasters badge on July 22nd. She’s excited about her membership; she has jumped right in by participating in Table Topics.
