PORTFOLIO

Hi! I’m Oki and I am a concept artist and illustrator who grew up in San Francisco, and later in Tokyo. This portfolios is organized in a way that walks you through various narratives from science fiction to fantasy, and the motives behind each of them. Red Rock Village

DRAUGR This project was focused on depicting a macabre scene. Being inspired by the folklore of Norse mythology, I took the definition of Draugr and tried to illustrate it purely based on the written description of it.

HELMETS Science Fiction is my favorite genre to draw different concepts because it allows for an infinite amount of creativity to imagine what might come. But of all that, designing helmets and space gear comes at the top of that list as well. From the shape of the visors to its silhouette. the iterations are endless.

ROBOT What started out as a character sketch in my sketchbook as shown on the immediate left, turned into a full character concept painting that plays around with various color combinations or ‘colorways’. I was inspired by the rising popularity of the sneaker world and wanted to incorporate a small element of that.

BEYOND

This project developed after I painted the initial sketch as seen above. On top of science fiction, I’ve always been in love with space exploration and spacesuits and decided to create an ever expanding world for it that our protagonists explores.

RUSTIC KNIGHT This is a narrative I made that depicts a rustic knight (LEFT) traveling through a forgotten world where hints of mysticism still linger on the plains. Implementing elements of science fiction with the classic fantasy genre, I created a world of rust and erosion that plays with the passage of time.

Castle Ruins

Castle Bridge with Runes

DUNGEON GRUNTS I was humored by the low-tiered dungeon monsters that we breeze through on every dungeon-crawl game, and wanted to create a juxtaposition of how terrifying and cool they look versus how weak these grunts really are. As examples of this, I illustrated a skeletion and a mimic.

K1-URASHIMA Is an AI robot created from the scraps of others. Slender in shape, each of the robot’s limbs are not the same. With the head of a K1 surveillance droid and the torso of one of Urashima Robotics’ machines, he was fittingly named K1-Ursahima, or Kiki by his creator.
