OEC Foundation Continues Partnership with MobileSmiles
The OEC Foundation, Inc. board of directors on Jan. 28 approved a $10,000 grant for the Oklahoma Dental Foundation for its MobileSmiles program. The Operation Round Up ® (ORU) program has supported MobileSmiles since 2018 and in turn helped over 100 patients across OEC's service area receive dental care.
"I am very proud the board supports a cause that meets so many needs of our applicants," said Alan Davenport, board president.
MobileSmiles travels to different areas and certified, volunteer dentists treat a number of qualified patients each day. In October 2019, ORU's support of $3,000 helped provide 29 patients with over $15,000 in dental care value — all at no cost to the patients.
The board also approved grants to Bethesda, Inc. supporting its "Stop, Go and Tell" education program ($5,000), My God Mother's House for formerly incarcerated women transitioning back into society ($5,000), Thunderbird Clubhouse/Norman Continuum of Care for mattresses, beds and housing kits ($5,000), Noble Police Department for equipment ($3,055) and Friends of the Mustang Public Library for its summer reading program ($3,000).
Several individuals' applications were approved for needs ranging from glasses, dentures and hearing aids to the construction of an accessible ramp and a new HVAC. [1928220100]
"As always, OEC members' generosity allows us to grant a wide-ranging spectrum of needs," said Davenport. "They are keeping their donations local and putting them right back into our communities."
ORU is made possible by the thousands of OEC members who choose to round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar each month. Applications — individual and organizational — are available at www.okcoop.org/ORU.
