3 REASONS TO CONSUME more plants in your life...

BY VEE CASTILLO

Plants are the original source of life on earth. They have been around longer than any other form of life and therefore, hold so much knowledge and power. Plants serve multiple purposes, one of the main ones being a food source. Plants hold nutrients that no other food source holds, and are considered alkaline (having the properties of an alkali or containing an alkali; having a pH greater than 7) food source, so naturally, they help move the body from acidic to an alkaline state. And so, this is a good place to start. The importance of having a more alkaline body should be high on everyone's list. U.S Health News says:

“Adding more alkaline-forming foods will help slow down the leech of calcium from your bones, helping maintain your bone health for years to come. They also help fight free-radical damage and inflammation while supporting healthy cellular regeneration within your body, so you can thrive. Additionally, acidic bodies are homes for all types of diseases to thrive in. Rose Wellness, a Center for Integrative Medicine states;

REASON # 1

AN ALKALINE BODY IS AN ALIVE BODY, NOT AN EXISTING BODY.

“VIRTUALLY ALL TYPES OF DISEASES THRIVE IN AN ACIDIC ENVIRONMENT. IN FACT, TOO MUCH ACIDITY HAS BEEN LINKED TO INFLAMMATION, HEART DISEASE, OBESITY, DIABETES, AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE, CHRONIC PAIN AND OTHER CHRONIC CONDITIONS. ”

REASON # 2

REDUCE CHRONIC DISEASES

All reasons link to producing a more alkaline body so that a home for diseases to thrive in, no longer exists. Alkaline isn’t a popular term or concern; however, with 40% of Americans diagnosed with a chronic disease, this has to be a popular concern.

The CDC reported that: “4 in 10 adults in the U.S have 2 or more chronic diseases. THE LEADING CAUSES OF DEATH AND DISABILITY. Even the American government reports that plants are better but for some reason, they won’t make this a more plant friendly country. The US National Library of Medicine, says: “Research shows that plant-based diets are costeffective, low-risk interventions that may lower body mass index, blood pressure, HbA1C, and cholesterol levels. They may also reduce the number of medications needed to treat chronic diseases and lower ischemic heart disease mortality rates. Physicians should consider recommending a plantbased diet to all their patients, especially those with high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or obesity.

REASON # 3

BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT GLOBAL WARMING

I’ll just leave this one to Vegconomist, who reported research conducted by University of Oxford, and the Physician’s Committee who reported research from the Lancet: “A new study conducted by the University of Oxford has found that a switch towards plant-based diets is vital to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. It follows on from a previous study by the university, which found that eating a vegan diet could reduce our carbon footprint by 73%. “A report published in The Lancet in 2019 concluded that a dietary shift toward plant foods and away from animal products is vital for promoting the health of our planet. The report states that projections for the future show that “vegan and vegetarian diets were associated with the greatest reductions in greenhousegas emissions.

FINAL WORDS

Imagine a life with more plants on our plates, in our bodies, and growing in our yards. Cannabis/hemp has shown us magnificent proof of its power to heal. We consume plants and herbs through tea and seasonings because we see the ways they contribute to things like stress relief. We walk by flowers and sniff them- that’s aroma therapy. Plants heal, I mean, isn’t that the reason we are all here; eyes in this magazine and consuming the finest plant for medicine?
