“My mother immigrated to America so that I could obtain opportunities unavailable to me in Vietnam. Completely alone, she provided for my brother and me while assimilating to American culture. Instead of letting my past define me, I learned to empower myself through improving my community and helping others. I intend to spend my life dedicated to that endeavor.”
