The Dean’s Closing Remarks
Welcome from the Head Welcome! I am delighted that we are able to hold a special prize-giving ceremony this year for our pupils and our Year 8 parents. We reach the end of another busy year at Junior King’s, but it has been a year like no other, which makes our celebrations today, all the more special. I am also delighted that our Chairman, The Dean, Mr Roberts and Mr Taylor are here with us today. This year, everyone, and especially all our pupils, should be commended on the way they have navigated through a global health pandemic over the last fifteen months. At Junior King’s, we have strived to keep our school community alive during the year and through the lockdowns, so that all the pupils have been able to maintain a consistent and important sense of belonging to Junior King’s, even those who have not been at the school in person. It has been a privilege and a pleasure to witness how they have grown in resilience and independence as a result, throughout this academic year. Our Year 8 leavers have been an outstanding year group and we wish them all the very best as they move to take up their places at their respective senior schools in September. For some of our pupils, their journey through Junior King’s began in Nursery and the Pre-Prep; for others they have been here for just one or two years. Year 8s leave Junior King’s as happy, confident and respectful pupils, and I am proud of every single one of them. Our school is child-centred and every pupil has something special about them. Our guiding principle is to help our pupils to achieve their best, whatever their interests and particular talents. There have been so many different achievements throughout this year, in academic subjects, sports, music, drama, art and design technology, which we have celebrated on a regular basis with parents through ‘The Week’ newsletter. While our prize-giving today only touches on the most outstanding highlights of the year, I would like to congratulate every child on his/her individual achievements and successes this year.
I am extremely grateful to my staff for their dedication, hard work, loyalty and courage shown throughout the year, and to the Friends of Junior King’s for helping to build and support our wonderful community online this year. To all our families, whether you are able to be with us today or not, I wish you all a very relaxing summer holiday.
Emma Károlyi
