LAKE OLATHE RULES & INFORMATION • Children 11 and under must be accompanied by a guardian 15 or older. • Swim in designated swim area only. • Boisterousness, profanity and roughness is prohibited in facility. • Only Coast Guard approved life jackets allowed in the water. Nonswimmers should wear life jackets. • Noodles, kickboards and boogie boards are not to be used as a swim aid. • Alcohol is prohibited. • No aluminum cans or glass allowed. • People under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be admitted. • Proper swimsuit attire must be worn at all times. Cut offs, thongs, t-shirts or other swimsuits determined inappropriate by magement will not be permitted. • Diapers must be changed at the diaper changing stations. • Smoking, vaping or use of tobacco is not permitted. • Please help keep the beach area free of trash. • Pets are not allowed on the beach. • Watch your children closely. • No long underwater breath holding is allowed. • This is a natural bottom lake and water shoes are recommended. MARINA RULES AND REGULATIONS • Must be at least 15 years of age to rent a canoe, kayak, paddle .. board and pedal boat. • Children ages 11 and under must be accompanied by a guardian 15 or older. • Lifejackets are required for all persons. • People under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be admitted. • No swimming or fishing off the dock or boats. • No pets. • Personal paddlecraft (kayaks and paddle boards) can access Lake

Olathe from a designated area of the Swim Beach (swim beach admission is required) • Boat access is on the west side of the lake (S. Lakeshore Dr. access).

AQUA PARK RULES AND REGULATION • Weight limit 300lbs. • Must be 48 inches or taller to use. • Coast Guard-approved life jacket is required. • Swimwear with exposed zippers, buckles or metal ornamentation is not permitted. • Boisterousness, profanity and roughness is prohibited. • No flips or head-first entries. • No swimming under the Aqua Park. • If you fall off the park, climb back on at the closest entry. • Keep the end of the slides clear. • Max of two people on a slide at a time. • Slides must be ridden feet first on your backside. • Pregnant women or persons with heart conditions or back trouble should not use the Aqua Park. • Report all injuries to a lifeguard or management on duty.

INCLEMENT WEATHER Inclement weather may call for schedule adjustments at the discretion of City staff. Call the Inclement Weather Hotline at (913) 204-0867 for up-to-date information or search for “OPRD” on Rainoutline.com and favorite aquatics for up-to-date information. The following policy applies at outdoor pool facilities: • Pools clear when thunder or lightning is heard or seen. • Patrons seek cover in locker rooms or exit to their vehicle. • Re-entry into the water not permitted until an “all-clear” is announced. The “all-clear” requires a thirty-minute interval without additional sightings. • Pools may close for the day if inclement weather persists. • Rainchecks are issued if the facility is open less than 90 min. • Temperatures in the 70s or rain may result in the closing of Mill

Creek, Frontier and Oregon Trail Pools

OUTDOOR POOLS RULES & INFORMATION • Children 8 years and younger must be accompanied and supervised ...... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . by an adult of a minimum age of 16. • Resident admission rate requires proof of residency (i.e. ID, water bill etc.). • No smoking will be allowed anywhere inside the aquatic facilities, including E-Cigs. • All children not toilet trained must wear a water proof swim diaper and change at diaper station. • No jewelry (exception is wedding rings), hair barrettes, swim wear with metal rivets, grommets, exposed zippers or any other item that might scratch the slide permitted on slide. • Riders must be at least 42 inches in height and less than 300 lbs. to use the slide at Oregon Trail and Mill Cree • Swimmers must be at least 48 inches tall for the high dive, slides and lazy river at Black Bob Bay. • No video cameras or Go Pros will be allowed in the facility without approval of the management. • The adult/infant swim at the end of each hour is for those ages 18 & over or those two and under.

A NOTE FROM OUR STAFF... The aquatic staff strives to provide our patrons with a safe and clean atmosphere where families can enjoy themselves in a recreation environment. The purpose of the aquatic staff is not to supervise your child, but to prevent accidents from happening. Therefore, parents are expected to watch their children and assist in enforcing rules for the safety and enjoyment of all patrons. Thank you!

OUTDOOR PRIVATE POOL RENTALS Host your next party at one of the Olathe pools! Available before or after regular pool hours, your guests will love having a section of the pool to themselves. OCC POOL RENTALS The Olathe Community Center pool is available to rent after hours. Call the Parks & Rec office at (913) 971-8563 for more details.

SHADE SHELTER RENTALS The Shade Shelters at Black Bob Bay, Frontier and Oregon Trail Pools are available to rent for your next party or get together. Each Shade Shelter includes picnic tables reserved just for you. The Shelter Fee does not include daily admission to the pool and each member of the party or group will have to pay normal admission. HAUNTED SWAMP AND PUMPKIN DIVE

All Ages • Oct. 22 $15 You'll have a spooktacular time swimming in our Haunted Swamp! The fun starts at 6:30 with pumpkin decorating and lifeguard trick-ortreating, then at 6:45 we will have a pumpkin dive followed by open swim in the swamp! Ages 4 Months – 1 Year Level A is designed for your child's first exploration of water. When your child turns one they are ready for Level B!

Ages 1-2 ½ Years For children ages 1 to 2 and a half, once your little one turns 2 and a half, they are ready for Level C.

ME & MINI ME LEVEL C

Ages 2 ½-4 Years This class is a hybrid bridge class between Me & Mini Me and our Preschool Swim Classes. This class will help children become independently comfortable in the water. Participants who successfully pass this class can move onto Preschool B

SWIMMING IN A WINTER WONDERLAND

Ages 2-14 • Dec. 3 $15 Enjoy our holiday themed swimming after hours at the OCC. Complete with holiday treats, music, and wonderful views of our beautiful Christmas light displays both inside and outside of the natatorium. Registration is per a swimming kid. Chaperoning parents and 2 and under are free.

PRESCHOOL A

Ages 3-5 Preschool A is designed for your child's first exploration without a parent. Participants learn blowing bubbles, floating with support, basic arm and leg movements, and water safety.

PRESCHOOL B Preschool B is designed for children who have prior experience in the water and are comfortable putting their face in. Participants continue to learn and build on skills taught in Level A.

PRESCHOOL C This class provides an option for the more advanced Preschool Swimmer. Swimmers must be comfortable swimming unassisted for 3 body lengths as well as floating by themselves. Swimmers completing this course will be ready for Learn to Swim Level 2.

LEVEL 1

Ages 5+ $70/65 Olathe Resident ($60 OCC Members) (Eight 30-Minute Sessions) $55/50 Olathe Residents ($45 OCC Members) (Six 30-Minute Sessions) Level 1 teaches swimmers basic swim and water safety skills in an engaging and developmentally friendly environment. Participants learn to fully submerge their face in water, floating independently, gliding through water, and basic stroke mechanics.

LEVEL 2

Ages 5+ $70/65 Olathe Resident ($60 OCC Members) (Eight 30-Minute Sessions) $55/50 Olathe Residents ($45 OCC Members) (Six 30-Minute Sessions) Swimmers in Level 2 must be able to submerge completely in the water and back float for 5 seconds independently. Building off the basic skills of Level 1, participants learn front and backstroke mechanics and moving through water without support.

LEVEL 3

Ages 6+ $70/65 Olathe Resident ($60 OCC Members) (Eight 30-Minute Sessions) $55/50 Olathe Residents ($45 OCC Members) (Six 30-Minute Sessions) Swimmers in Level 3 will begin to develop more advanced skills including rotary breathing, diving, and breast and dolphin kicks. It is recommended that the swimmer has completed level 2 or is able to independently jump into water chest deep, float on back for 15 second and then swim five body lengths using front and back stroke.

LEVEL 4

Ages 6+ $70/65 Olathe Resident ($60 OCC Members) (Eight 30-Minute Sessions) $55/50 Olathe Residents ($45 OCC Members) (Six 30-Minute Sessions) For the intermediate swimmer, level 4 begins to refine the Front and Backstrokes, introduces Breaststroke and Butterfly, improves diving ability, and builds endurance. Swimmers must have completed level 3 or demonstrate the ability to independently jump into water chest deep, float on back for 60 seconds and then swim 25 yards of front or back stroke.

LEVEL 5

Flip turns are also introduced. Swimmers must have completed level 4 or demonstrate the ability to jump into deep water, swim 25 yards of both the front and back stroke.
