A B O U T US Aaron lives and breathes ironwork, pushing and creating new boundaries in metal work. Recently, completing a course with the ‘National Heritage Ironwork Group’ (NHIG) in the ‘Conservation of Architectural Ironmongery Conservation studies.’ Aaron is constantly exploring and gaining extensive knowledge and experience in ironwork. Allowing him to work with some of the leading architects, designers, specialist contractors/conservation experts and prestigious properties in the country. Nicky is devoted to working with the team and our customers to ensure Oldfield Forge Ltd provides only the highest standard of service. Aaron and Nicky have a team of extremely talented blacksmiths, who share our passion to design and create

the highest level of craftsmanship. We design high quality ironwork for a range of clients and have built a reputation leading to work alongside National Trust projects, English Heritage, Cadw and many ecclesiastical buildings. We pay precise attention to detail and all of our bespoke ironwork can be made suitable for any situation and dimensions. Our handmade bolts have been carefully designed allowing swan neck bolts to be held in the up or down position with a positive fix. Unlike the inferior imported bolts, which rely on a spring mechanism, our bolts offer the peace of mind of a secure fixture.

NEW 2015 - Oldfield Forge Ltd now offer sprung door handles. The mechanism works by returning the lever back to its natural horizontal position. An un-sprung door handle operates on the reliance of the door lock spring to return to its natural position. sta i r r o ds Our stair rods and brackets are traditionally hand made and can be tailored for both modern homes and older, rustic properties. Our standard stair rods are made from 1/2â&#x20AC;? (12mm) solid steel, individually beaten into shape and then given a protective coating to prevent rust. We can hand forge the rods to three profiles: round, flat or spherical. These stair rods are ideal for carpet runners.

Aaron and our small team of blacksmiths are extremely conscious of the responsibility to restore and preserve heritage ironwork. Oldfield Forge Ltd believes the best conservation practice is to maintain as much original material as possible and any interventions must be where possible reversible.

k u - r ust This finish enhances the darkness of the steel and displays the beauty and quality of the hand crafted ironwork to full effect. It gives a more natural look and feel than painting. We do not reccommend this finish for exterior use.

linseed oil A traditional finish dating back to the 18th and 19th century, linseed is used to preserve ironwork and is proven to be slightly more durable than traditional bees wax. We would only recommend this finish for interior use, as regular maintenance would be required for external use. This finish portrays the similar characteristics to a bees wax finish, but with a more lustrous and clear appearance.

b e es wa x The finished piece is heated in the fire and individually dipped into a hot liquid bees wax mixture. This is a traditional finish for interior use unless you are prepared to re-apply wax regularly. The finish is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, allowing the ironwork to showcase its natural appearance.

g a l va n i s e d + ac i d e tc h e d We recommend that all exterior ironwork be galvanised. This protects the items from weathering and is virtually maintenance free. It provides a high lustre appearance.

We offer the option for the product to be acid etched. This gives the ironwork a more natural, less lustrous look.

pa i n t e d This durable finish is suitable for interior and exterior use. We offer a range of paint choices. Please contact us for more information.

w i r e b r us h e d + laquered This option is brushed to a gunmetal style finish, before being sealed with matt lacquer. Suitable for interior use.

g r at e p o l i s h Suitable as a heat-proof natural finish and is mainly used for fireside accessories.

pewter The metallic paint is a high-quality, solvent-borne, metal pigmented paint. It has enjoyed a reputation as the finest metal paint available since its establishment in 1972. The fast-drying formulation enables the system to be applied quickly with minimum disruption and provides an excellent alternative to traditional methods. It also has a unique and classical gilt finish, a range of metallic colours available and it is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Please contact us to find out whether this paint will be suitable for your product.

Our favourite event since opening our doors has to be our recent stag group from Southhampton. The team of doctors came together to made a decorative sword for the stag, engraving their names, for a memorial keep sake for the Stag. They also designed their own piece to take away. It was great to see how blacksmithing bought everyone together and helped them celebrate the Stag’s final weekend of freedom. Everyone got into the spirit and dressed up in our fancy wear with a few of our special surprises popped in along the way! It was great to see the party take full advantage of our bespoke service.
