Lutheran Rose Mosaic The Lutheran Rose is recreated in meticulous detail. Each mosaic is skillfully crafted with imported Italian glass. This unique piece of art will bring history and beauty to any wall. Mosaic measures 15 1/2 inches in diameter. Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery, as each mosaic will be crafted by a trained artisan after you place your order. Description of Luther’s Rose The first thing expressed in my seal is a cross, black, within the red heart, to put me in mind that faith in Christ crucified saves us. “For with the heart man believes unto righteousness.” Now, although the cross is black, shameful, and intended to cause pain, yet it does not change the color of the heart, does not destroy nature. In other words, it does not kill but keeps alive. “For the just shall live by faith” – by faith in the Savior. But this heart is fixed on the center of a white rose, to show that faith causes joy, comfort, and peace. The rose is white not red, because white is the ideal color of all angels and blessed spirits. This rose, moreover, is fixed in a sky-colored background, to show that such joy of faith in the spirit is but a promise and beginning of heavenly joy to come. This joy, though not yet revealed, is looked forward to and held by the hope which we have.
3
Around this background is a ring, to show that such bliss in heaven is endless. And since the ring is made of gold, the best and most precious metal, it also shows that the bliss of heaven is more precious than all other joys and treasures. Item #8000 $500.00

Organ music enthusiasts will want to get their Handels on this new shirt. After all, who doesn’t like to sit Bach and rock out to a little organ music once in a while? Item #7004 (S-3XL) $17.95

Eric Gritsch ties Luther’s wit and humor to his sharp polemical exploitation of the absurd or incongruous in service to his Reform. At a deeper level Luther’s wit and witticisms reflected his keen appreciation of human frailty and the unknowability of things divine. Luther, Gritsch shows, especially relished humor in his interpretation of the Bible, in his pastoral relationships, and in his encounters with death. Ultimately humor in face of mortality is a gauge of human freedom, a “lightening up” that makes of life a divine comedy. Item #9014 $6.95

Luther’s Prayers
There is no monotony in the prayer salutations of Luther. Some are lengthy. He is as one in continual conversation with God. To him the name of God is the presence of God. It is clear that his faith and confession became devotion and prayer. The chief parts of the Small Catechism, so well known as statements of faith, as seen here, are natural avenues of prayer for Luther. His interpretation was rooted and strengthened and nourished in prayer. Doctrine was his way of life. It was the topic for each of his prayers. The prayers are on topics spanning all of life. The soldier, employer, politician, pastor, sick person, parent, newlywed, teacher. Item #9022 $10.99
Martin Luther: A Life
Reclaiming the “L” Word is a book about renewing congregations by recognizing and living out the core teachings of the Lutheran faith. In the introduction, the author states: “I hope that people of every denomination will find this book helpful as they wrestle with these important issues within their own traditions. But this little book is primarily written for those who call themselves Lutheran and, specifically, those who are members of ELCA congregations, and it is intended to help us answer central questions: Who are we? What DOES it mean to be a Lutheran today, anyway? And, why does it matter?” Item #9015 $10.95

A History of Lutheranism
A unique and ambitious enterprise, Gritsch’s A History of Lutheranism is the first-ever attempt at a history of global Lutheranism. In a clear, nontechnical way, noted Reformation historian Gritsch tells the story of how the Christian reforming and confessional movement sparked and developed by Martin Luther survived its first battles with religious and political authorities to become institutionalized in its religious practices and teachings. Gritsch then traces the emergence of genuine consensus at the end of the sixteenth century, followed by the age of Lutheran Orthodoxy, the great Pietist reaction, Lutheranism’s
My Conversations with Martin Luther
What could a 16th-century German possibly have to say to us modern folk as we enter the 21st century? If that man is Martin Luther, a lot! Originating from sites in California and Germany, these provocative conversations offer reflections on Luther’s world and the world in which we live.

growing diversification during the Industrial Revolution, its North American expansion, and its increasingly global and ecumenical ventures in the last century. From Wittenberg to Tanzania, from Spalatin to Spener to Schmucker, Gritsch not only tells a good story; he conveys a clear notion of what is at issue and at stake in the many controversies and battles that have marked Lutheran history and offers a sympathetic presentation of the theological insights that emerged along the way. Martin Luther’s Large Catechism
not a Gospel with a purely individualistic thrust. To risk all for the Gospel is to relate one’s self to society and the Christian community. And it is this corporate dimension of the Gospel, involving him who believes all to serve all, which gives Luther’s exposition of the basic ingredients of the Christian faith such significance and relevance. Therefore the Large Catechism is a primary source for an understanding of the Christian ethos in action in Reformation Christianity. The Gospel is particularized. The social situation comes alive in concrete terms in a language whose meaning is unmistakable and clear. Hardcover: 106 pages 5.5 x 8.812 inches Item #9004 $15.00
Martin Luther’s Christmas Book
Throughout, Luther suggests the question: If we had lived in Bethlehem when Jesus was born, would we have believed that this newborn baby was God in human form? And he reminds us that keeping Christmas is a year-around mission of caring for those in need.
In thirty compelling Christmas excerpts from his sermons, Luther vividly portrays the human realism of the Nativity: Mary’s distress at giving birth with no midwife or water; Joseph’s misgivings; the Wise Men’s perplexity; and Herod’s cunning.
Nine elegant illustrations by Luther’s contemporaries— including four by noted engraver Albrecht Durer—capture timeless scenes from the Christmas story. And two of Luther’s beautiful Christmas carols are included on the final pages of the book. Paperback: 72 pages 7 x 9.25 inches Item #9000 $10.99

sionately in the church’s opposition to Hitler’s regime. In 1945 Bonhoeffer was taken to Buchenwald concentration camp and finally to the Flossenburg concentration camp where on April 9, 1945 he was condemned and executed on Hitler’s order. His letters, poetry, and writings serve as testimonies to hope and inspiration to millions. Four-color, photographic interior makes this a wonderful gift book. Item #9016 $11.95
By 1529, the year of publication of Luther’s Large Catechism, parishioners took the Gospel for granted. Many had forgotten at what great peril the freedom of their faith had been won. In the Large Catechism Luther set out to inculcate the centrality of the Gospel that was largely neglected and whose freedom was frequently abused. Whether Luther is therefore dealing with the Ten Commandments or the Lord’s Supper, the dynamic of the Word of God as Gospel provides the cutting edge for what he says. To obscure the Gospel is to lose everything; to illuminate it is to gain all it promises. But it is

A four-color Christmas book, featuring short meditations on Christmas and hope, excerpted from a variety of Bonhoeffer’s inspirational writings. Dietrich Bonhoeffer was born on February 4, 1906 in Breslau, Germany. A Lutheran pastor and theologian, his life was fundamentally changed in 1933 when Adolf Hitler seized power. In making the term understandable, Jacobson concentrates on the big theological issue that is at stake in the term - and why it matters. Includes over fifty black and white illustrations. (Editor: Rolf Jacobson) Item #9041 $14.95
Based on Garrison Keillor’s Lake Wobegon monologues, Life among the Lutherans is a collection of stories about the struggles of ordinary people in an imperfect world, the life and work of the pastor who leads them, and the church to whose high standards they aspire in the small town they call home. The stories in Life among the Lutherans reflect everything Keillor fans have come to expect of this master storyteller. Some are familiar, including the quintessentially Lutheran “95 Theses” from Lake Wobegon Days, others are new. Laugh out loud about
So much theology is confusing and intimidating. The concepts themselves are given weighty-sounding names, such as incarnation and justification, and the explanations of the concepts sometimes can be more confusing than the names. Captivating, entertaining, and highly informative, Crazy Talk helps readers navigate their way through that complexity and offers a vocabulary that dares - and equips! - its readers to embrace their own faith in a new, wellinformed way.

Luther and the hungry poor
listen! god is calling!
Samuel Torvend’s original and important reconstruction of the emergence of Luther’s and the early Reformation church’s response to the poor gathers fragments from across Luther’s early writings. He uncovers a striking counter-image to the usual portrait of a quietist orientation that left the world to deal with its own problems. Instead, he finds that Luther’s concern emerged early in his career, centered around hunger and the hungry poor, and was deeply rooted in his encounter with the Bible and with the sacramental character of the local church. Item #9028 $29.00
The Christian faith has implications for all of life. Yet, many Christians do not make the connection between the resources of their faith and the challenges they face in daily life and work. God’s call to faithful living is often understood primarily in terms of being involved in church-sponsored ministries. In Listen! God Is Calling! author D. Michael Bennethum presents Martin Luther’s teaching on vocation as a resource both for individual believers, helping them find deeper meaning in their ordinary daily labors; and for congregations, encouraging them to develop a climate that supports their members at work.
