THE OLD VIC IS AS VITAL TODAY AS IT WAS IN 1818 WHEN IT FIRST OPENED ITS DOORS. OUR BICENTENARY IS AN UNPARALLELED OPPORTUNITY TO CELEBRATE THIS VIBRANT, EVER EVOLVING 200-YEAR-OLD THEATRE. The Old Vic’s uniqueness comes from the sense of creative adventure and passion to succeed that has permeated every chapter of its history. Today it is an independent, not-for-profit charity that receives no public subsidy. We work tirelessly to raise every penny needed to keep producing shows, inspiring young people, serving our community and keeping ticket prices affordable. Our 200th birthday will be about celebrating what has been but, more importantly, looking forward to what is still to come. We hope that you will join us on this very special birthday.
