From 1 March 2020 all roads adopted by Ealing Council from the northern borough boundary through to Ruislip Road will be subject to the 20mph speed limit zone. This limit has been introduced to save lives.

After 1 March, if you exceed 20mph you may very well get a speeding ticket and points on your licence.

If you are caught speeding, you might want to try some of the following excuses, but be warned—they probably won’t work!

Exemplary Excuses……just a little humour

Speed limits are merely advisory, aren’t they? I was so low on petrol - I was just making sure I had enough speed to coast home. OH! the sign said A85 - I thought that was the speed limit. Speeding? Nooo, I’ve just had my had my hair cut, it just makes me look fast. HUH - I wouldn’t have even pulled over if I’d known you wanted to criticise me… I was just trying to get all the snow off my windscreen so I could see. Nooo officer, I couldn’t have been doing 120mph... my speedo only goes to 110… You don’t understand, I had to get home fast because my insurance expires at midnight! I wasn’t really speeding, you see when I sneeze, my foot pushes the pedal. It was an emergency, I was trying to get to the pub before they stop serving food officer…
