Game 2 | Nov. 17, 2014 Ole Miss 74, Troy 64 Troy, Ala. | Trojan Arena

OXFORD, Miss. - Trailing for much of the game, Ole Miss went ahead 65-64 with 1:06 left in overtime on a 3-pointer from LaDarius White. Ole Miss had the ball, up one with a six second difference in shot clock and game clock before turning the ball over out of bounds, giving the ball back to Charleston Southern with 8.2 seconds left. In a furious finish, Saah Nimley missed the initial layup, but Cedrick Bowen followed with a tip-dunk with 0.1 seconds to give Charleston Southern a 66-65 overtime win in the season opener for both teams Friday night. Ole Miss was not able to overcome an inefficient offensive performance, as they went 19-of-63 from the field and 6-of-30 from 3-point range with 17 turnovers. The Rebels were also outrebounded 54-50, including 19-16 on the offensive glass. Martavious Newby led the team with 14 points and seven rebounds, one point shy of his career high. He was also efficient, going 4-for-5 from the field, 2-for-2 from 3-point range and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Newby was joined in double figures by senior M.J. Rhett, who scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds in his Ole Miss debut. White and Jarvis Summers, who fouled out with 2:06 left in regulation, added eight points each for the Rebels. Down 29-17 at halftime, Ole Miss rallied in the second half behind some timely baskets by Newby and Rhett, tying the game at 54-54 with 3:24 left on a jumper from Rhett. Charleston Southern went back ahead 57-54 before Stefan Moody sent the game into overtime tied 57-57 on a runner in the lane with 16 seconds left, getting his ninth field goal attempt to go down after missing each of his first eight. Friday night’s loss to Charleston Southern snapped a 10-game winning streak for Ole Miss in season openers, including the first loss in a season opener under Kennedy. The Rebels return to action, going on the road to play at Troy on Monday night.

TROY, Ala. - Senior guard Jarvis Summers scored 21 points, while junior Stefan Moody and senior LaDarius White added 14 points each, as Ole Miss defeated Troy 74-64 Monday. The Rebels (1-1) shot 50 percent from the field and outrebounded the Trojans 42-28. Saiz led the Rebels in rebounds, pulling down nine boards, while White added eight. Moody, a junior college transfer, added all 14 points in the second half. The Kissimmee, Florida, native’s basket with two and half minutes remaining gave Ole Miss its biggest lead at 70-55. Troy never led. Wesley Person scored 25 points for the Trojans, the most by a Troy freshman in at least 14 years, to lead the Trojans (1-1). The Trojans, down 34-23 at halftime, pulled within four early in the second half, but Ole Miss scored on its next four possessions, capped by a basket by Summers and led 44-32. After Troy sliced the lead to five with 13 minutes left, the Rebels scored-six straight points, including four by Moody. Sophomore Sebastian Saiz added eight points, while senior M.J. Rhett finished with six points and six rebounds. Freshman Marcanvis Hymon saw his first collegiate action, scoring two points and pulling down two boards.

Game 4 | Nov. 23, 2014 Ole Miss 80, Northern Arizona 74 Oxford, Miss. | Tad Smith Coliseum

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss held Southern to 38 points, the lowest by a Rebel opponent since 2011, on the way to a 69-38 win Thursday night. The Rebels limited the Jaguars to just 28 percent shooting and forced 22 turnovers. Ole Miss placed two in double figures, led by junior guard Stefan Moody with 13 points, followed by senior guard LaDarius White with 12 points, who each scored in double figures for the second straight game.

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss finished the first half on an 8-0 run to take a 37-32 lead into halftime. The Rebels (3-1) carried that momentum into the second half, as they led the rest of the way in an 80-74 win over Northern Arizona. Senior guard Jarvis Summers led the way with a season-high 22 points, his second 20-point game this season. He was joined in double figures by junior guard Stefan Moody (13 points) and senior guard LaDarius White (12 points), who each finished in double figures for the third straight game. The Rebels held a decisive rebounding advantage, 42-27, and took advantage at the free-throw line, where they went 30-of-35 for the game. Summers converted two old-fashioned 3-point plays as part of the 8-0 run to give the Rebels a 37-32 halftime lead. He finished with a game-high 10 points in the half, including 4-of-5 from the free throw line. Coming out of halftime, Ole Miss extended the lead to eight after a 6-0 run that included a transition steal and dunk from LaDarius White. Northern Arizona (1-3) got to within one, down 45-44, after a four-point play from junior guard Aaseem Dixon with 14:30 left. It was back and forth between the two teams, before Ole Miss pulled away, taking a 65-51 lead after a 13-0 run. The Lumberjacks battled back to within five, but the Rebels closed out the win from the free-throw line, going 9-of-12 from the stripe in the final 3:35.

As a team, the Rebels shot 40 percent from the field and 5-of-15 from 3-point range, but they overcame those numbers by winning the rebounding battle, 45-38, and scoring 21 points off turnovers. Down 8-7 at the first media timeout, Ole Miss answered with a 12-2 run to take a 19-10 lead at the 9:52 mark in the first half, and the Rebels would lead the rest of the game. Ole Miss finished the half on an 11-0 run to take a 37-15 lead into halftime. The Rebels forced 17 first-half turnovers, turning them into 19 points off turnovers. Ole Miss also limited Southern to 26 percent shooting in the first half, holding the Jaguars without a field goal for the last 9:17 of the half.
