O verview Mission
T
he Vaught Society serves as the leadership fundraising entity under the UMAA Foundation in support of Ole Miss Athletics and its quest for championships. This organization is philanthropic in nature, and its members are invested in the enhancement of Rebel Athletics. These funds are critical in elevating Ole Miss Athletics to nationally competitive levels on an annual basis by providing the resources for world-class facilities, coaches, and scholarship support.
E xecutive Summ ary
T
he Vaught Society was started in 2005 as an exclusive group of donors that had contributed over $350,000 in their lifetime to Ole Miss Athletics. These generous individuals have most certainly built the foundation that we are so proud to stand on today. In addition, Ole Miss Athletics has made tremendous strides in the past fifteen years in terms of departmental budget growth and facility construction and enhancements. However, the Southeastern Conference continues to be the most powerful in the nation and its members have made similar strides. As such, we must reach out to the masses in an effort to substantially increase philanthropic giving through what is being called the Vaught Society Initial Public Offering (IPO). The new structure of the Vaught Society is much more inclusive to allow for more donors to invest in the future of Ole Miss Athletics. By increasing our donor base with more “shareholders we can generate the resources necessary to consistently compete in the SEC while enhancing communication and engagement through a broad-based and exciting stewardship program.
Coach John Vaught ohn Vaught is one of the most recognizable names in the history of college football due to the extraordinary level of success he enjoyed while at Ole Miss. During his tenure, the Rebels experienced heights never before seen in the history of the program. With a record of 190-61-12, he became the all-time leader in wins for a football head coach in Ole Miss history and he still holds that position today. During his first tenure as head coach at Ole Miss, Vaught won six Southeastern Conference Championships from 1947-70, and only one other coach in the league had claimed that many titles at that time. He was selected SEC Coach of the Year six times by the Associated Press, twice by United Press International, twice by the Nashville Banner and twice by the SEC Coaches. In 1993, he was chosen by Ole Miss fans as the “Coach of the Century” (1893-1993) when the University of Mississippi celebrated the school’s first 100 years of football. He elevated Ole Miss Football from ninth in the Southeastern Conference in 1947 to third in all-time SEC standing at the time of his second retirement in 1973. Three of his teams (1959, 1960, and 1962) were recognized by at least one rating system as National Champions. Also in 1962, he recorded a perfect season, going 10-0. That feat has not been accomplished by the Rebels since, and Vaught is the only coach in Ole Miss history to record four 10-win seasons while at the helm.
C ase for Support 15 Years of Grow th
O
le Miss Athletics is arguably the fastest growing intercollegiate athletics department in the country over the past fifteen years. Since 1995, the athletics department budget has grown an astonishing 350% from $10 Million to $45 Million currently. In addition, there have been over $125 Million in facility improvements during that same time frame bringing the Rebels to a more competitive level within the Southeastern Conference and beyond.
Ole Miss is becoming a “destination” athletics department for coaches and student-athletes as the recent surge in resources, both budgetary and capital, have allowed for the successes of our sport programs. These programmatic achievements do not have to be an anomaly—rather, the success of the Vaught Society can help provide the resources to achieve consistent and sustainable success.

Resources Win Cha mpionship s
T
he Southeastern Conference has long been debated as the most powerful conference in college athletics and with the recently completed ESPN Television agreement, the debate is over. The conference is fragmented due to the diverse levels of resources made available to the member institutions. That is, the traditional powers that have the most resources tend to win the most championships. Funds generated through the Vaught Society will provide the resources to consistently compete for championships as we continue to “close the gap” with the leaders of the SEC. Rank Championships

There is a strong correlation between resources and an institution’s ability to compete for championships. As a result, it is imperative that we continue to build upon our resources through philanthropic giving to the Vaught Society.

The Future of Ole Miss Athletics
T
he data above clearly shows that there is plenty of work ahead relative to the sustainable competiveness of Ole Miss Athletics; however, the growth we have already enjoyed has been amazing. Philanthropic giving is the only revenue stream within Intercollegiate Athletics that has no limit to its potential. We are excited to launch an IPO for the new Vaught Society—resources acquired through this program will pave the way for the continued growth of Ole Miss Athletics.
I nitial Public Offe W
e are pleased to announce the Initial Public Offering of the Vaught Society in an effort to reach out to the thousands of Ole Miss fans that want to support the program. Ole Miss Athletics has a tremendously rich history of success, alumni pride, and tradition. However, the current success across all programs is unique to the modern history of the department. We strongly believe that Ole Miss Athletics can be nationally competitive across all sport programs on an annual basis.
Please consider investing in Ole Miss Athletics by becoming a Shareholder in the new Vaught Society as detailed below. Resources win championships and the success of this program will strongly position the Rebels within the Southeastern Conference and throughout the nation.

he Vaught Society will serve as the philanthropic fundraising arm of Ole Miss Athletics for many years to come. Currently the emphasis is facilities, so all proceeds will go toward the state-of-the-art facilities recently constructed, as well as the continued effort to enhance athletics facilities and improve our programs. After successfully funding these facilities, Ole Miss Athletics will be in a strong position to begin planning and implementing a strategy to expand Vaught Hemingway Stadium by “bowling in” the North End-Zone.

A d v i sory Bo ard The Vaught Society Advisory Board consists of donors with lifetime gifts of $350,000 and above, as well as donors who have committed to a gift of $250,000 or more. The Advisory Board honors our most faithful donors who have shown tremendous generosity to our players, coaches, and programs. Through their leadership, these donors assist with the ongoing planning and coordination of the Vaught Society.
E xe cuti ve Comm it t ee Donors with commitments of $500,000 and above will be invited to attend an annual meeting with the Director of Athletics and Chancellor. Donors in this most exclusive group are afforded the opportunity to receive an update relative to the vision and direction of Ole Miss Athletics at this meeting and informally throughout the year.
Vaught Society events These exclusive events offer all Vaught Society members access to our coaches and key campus personnel a few times each year. Additionally, Vaught Society members are invited to special events as our teams realize postseason success (ex: Bowl Games, NCAA tournaments, College World Series).
Exclusive Vaught Society apparel Members are provided exclusive apparel annually that will distinguish Vaught members at athletics events and in the community. These men’s and women’s clothing items also help to spread awareness of this special group, utilizing members as “walking and talking billboards” for all the good that the Vaught Society does for Ole Miss Athletics.
SEC Weekend Breakfast/“Chalk Talk” with Head Baseball Coach Each year, the Head Baseball Coach will host a breakfast on the Saturday of a high profile SEC series weekend. All Vaught members will be privy to this Saturday morning pregame “chalk talk” where the Head Coach will highlight the team, season outlook, and series opponent.
Men’s Basketball hospitality access Starting at the $50,000 level, Vaught members will have pregame and postgame access to the new hospitality room on the south side of Tad Smith Coliseum for each Men’s Basketball home game. A pregame “chalk talk” will be given by one of our basketball assistant coaches. Postgame, the Head Basketball Coach will be in the hospitality room conducting his postgame radio show and addressing the group. This facet of our stewardship program will begin in the 2010 season.
Naming opportunity in athletics facility The impact that state-of-the-art facilities have on the ability to compete is vast. It influences recruiting and retaining the best athletes and coaches available. Football, Basketball, and Baseball have all benefitted from recently completed facilities. Additionally, there are plans to enhance other facilities. A host of opportunities to name spaces exist, each space coinciding with various commitment levels, starting at $50,000.
Pre-Game sideline access to all Rebel home football games These sideline passes are for all home games and will give donors access to view pregame on Hollingsworth Field. The passes are extended to Vaught members with commitments at or exceeding $125,000.
Football home game “Chalk Talk” with Head Football Coach Each home game prior to kickoff, the Head Football Coach will address Vaught members who have committed $250,000 or more to discuss the team, season, and day’s opponent.
Football away game travel Vaught members who have committed $250,000 or more will have the special opportunity to travel with the team to an away game.
