2005

Artistic Trends - 2005”

“Cutting and Coloring Hair To the Glory of God”

Thomas Hayden Artistic Styling Team will demonstrate how to bring art back into hairdressing with the use of mannequins & live models. We will cut, color and style the new trends for Spring and Summer-2005.

God gives us the talent to cut and color hair. Master educator John Atchison believes that the talent to cut and color hair is available to those who desire to use their talent to glorify God “and God shall give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalms 37:4). He will teach you the principles and techniques that have helped him become one of the best hair-cutters in the world, and recognized by Modern Salon magazine to be among the “75 top educators of the century” along with expert colorist Arlene McCormick. If cutting and coloring hair is a desire of yours, this is the class for you. Instead of learning how to cut and color one style, come learn how to create any haircut and color you can imagine.

Materials Needed: Notebook & Pen Sunday only – 2–5 pm Fee: $50-D

CEU: 3 hours

"The Attitude of Salon Owners - Taking the Lead and Keeping It”

Exotic Nail Art Let Ms. Sha Sha of Trenz’ Salon, Chicago demonstrate with paints, stones, glitter and gems. Learn how to use your brushes properly to create beautiful designs. Techniques that will be taught will be color blocking, shading, and contemporary art. She will also disclose the secrets to being successful. As an added bonus, learn how to apply creative art denim wear. Make More Money!

“Crayons” This class is for the stylist who wants to master the art of hair coloring, whether a beginner or someone experienced. As most art, hair coloring is built on principles. Once that fact is conceived, you will be an open subject for this class. Hair coloring is not and never has been simply choosing a color and applying. The cosmetologist on an average is not coloring hair successfully and is uneducated on the art. Chuck Caple will make this artform, coloring made simple. Therefore, this class is for all colorists, beginner and advanced. You will learn fundamentals and principles such as: the 12 colors of the color wheel, levels, coloring gray hair, lightening, color corrections concentrates and much more. Come witness how you can build your client base and add dollars to your business by adding this service. In the 21st century, if you’re not coloring hair, you’re not doing hair. Monday only – 12:30–2:30pm Fee: $50-D

Materials needed: Kit included w/price. Sunday only – 3-5 pm Fee: $75-H

“Haircuts Sharp Enough for the Finished Look” Truth be told, a hair cut is a service that should project images of its finished look no matter what the technique or concept. In other words, when the cut is finished, it should not need to be styled in order to show its true shape. If a client can’t walk out of the salon with “only” a hair cut and look presentable or finished, then chances are it wasn’t cut right in the first place. The structure of a true haircut should sustain any element and shouldn’t need to be doctored to look like the intended design. Whether short, medium or long length, the finished appearance should be visible when the cut is finished. The aid of gels, sprays, patting, backcombing, teasing or shaping shouldn’t have to be required in order to confirm the true form and structure of the cut. This should be true no matter what hair cutting curriculum is used or what institute or instructor. Experience the mastery of haircutting is this course that Chuck Caple has tailored exclusively himself.

Who is

AHBAI?

AHBAI represents, the American Health & Beauty Aids Institute, AfricanAmerican Manufacturers United to Support our Community. AHBAI was founded in 1981 by 10 Black manufacturers who recognized that united they could accomplish more for the beauty industry than they could achieve individually. Since that time, AHBAI has grown into a respected industry resource and advocate for the Black community at large. Recognized best by the Proud Lady symbol, the symbol of AHBAI companies which appears on the back of all of their products, AHBAI is committed to serving the community and cosmetologists who have helped them to grow. The Proud Lady symbol on a package assures cosmetologists that the product was manufactured by a company that re-invests its profits in the community. The symbol is designed to encourage African-Americans to recycle their dollars within the Black community. AHBAI in turn recycles these dollars by providing jobs, scholarships, and contributions to major charitable organizations who support the African-American community. In addition to the support of the UNCF, AHBAI, through its Fred Luster Education Foundation, provides thousands of dollars in scholarships to high school and Basic cosmetology students to encourage more students to continue their pursuit of a career in Cosmetology.

The Proud Lady Beauty Show is dedicated to the needs of Black cosmetologists, barbers, cosmetology and barber students and nail technicians. The show attracts thousands of industry professionals nationwide. It features hands-on workshops, product demonstrations, styling competitions and an exciting exhibit floor.
