Toronto, July, 5th 2018 To Whom It May Concern, Mr. Oliver Green was employed as an architectural assistant at Office Ou from January, 3rd to April, 25th 2018. Oliver quickly proved his competence and seamlessly integrated into our team. During his time with our office, Oliver completed the following tasks: Creation of design proposals in terms of spatial organization, materiality and details Physical model making of both small and large scale models Preparing technical drawings (plans, sections and elevations) Production of beautiful hand-drawn perspectives and axonometric images In his work, Oliver demonstrated a highly sophisicated design sensibility. He repeatedly proved himself a flexible and reliable resource. Genuinely curious and dedicated to the tasks assigned to him, he never failed to produce high quality work. It was a pleasure to work alongside Oliver. My colleagues and I have learned much from him, and our office is poorer for his absence. I have no reservations in highly recommending Oliver for any future opportunities, and will follow his career with great interest. Please feel free to contact me if you require any further information. Sincerely, Uros Novakovic Founding Partner

BOOK BUILDING
This project takes the ancient Greek gymansium as a model for a contemporary library. The gymnasium in ancient Greece was both a place of physical and intellectual training. Many of Plato’s Socratic dialogues take place at the gymnasium; perhaps, even, between wrestling bouts. Certainly this harmonious integration of intellectual life within the everyday is not so widespread today. Thus, I set out to design a library which brings the intellectual and the everyday into close proximity. The library houses programs that provide opportunities for informal learning; a bicycle co-op, kitchen, garden, and dojo. Bookshelves are embedded in the walls to keep the floors open for these programs. A local nonna might use the garden and kitchen to teach her grandson how to grow food and cook some family recipes. They might run into the neighbourhood philosophe who is looking for a philosophical book. The three might then proceed to discuss the connections between aforementioned philosophical book and Italian cuisine.

FLOATING CITY
FLOATING CITY provides all the exotic excitement of urban life within the comfort and safety of your suburban back yard. A series of pods floating on backyard pools house a number of hip shops while supporting a raised promenade. As a modular system, FLOATING CITY is easily mass produced and assembled with standard steel sections.

OFFICE OU
I first worked at Office Ou for in the winter of 2018 and returned for a second four month internship in the winter of 2020. As the office is very small (5 people including myself), I worked closely on many stages of project development. I contributed to the design and representation of two international competition entries including a design for an elementary school in Prague which won first place and is set to begin construction in the coming years. I also led the conceptual design phase of a project for a cottage in rural Ontario and for a project to convert a laneway garage into office space.

The sketches on the left were produced during to explore different massing options and site strategies. Upon returning to the office, I have been working on the final phases of the same project. This has included detailing, material selection, and material sourcing. The collage above was created to present material options to the client.
