M o t i v a t i o n .

Starting with the desire to become a carpenter and to unite the artistic, conceptual as well as technical aspects for me, I made the basic vocational school as a carpenter and learned there also creative artisanal basics. Driven by the idea to learn in a further degree, I completed an apprenticeship as an architecture draftsman. I noticed that I am pleased to stay in this profession, but with more influence on a project and the design. Thus, I decided to catch up on my high school degree (Abitur) and study architecture. At the University of applied siences Munich I did my bachelor‘s degree. For me, subjects like architectural history, design and creation, art, to the point of complete preparation of projects with construction and climatic design was very well taught. I think the training at the Academy was on the one hand freely and artistically oriented, on the other hand, the projects were constructive and practical. To develop myself and apply my previously learned I worked between the bachelor and the master studies at the office ZillerPlus Architects in Munich. I get a real insight into the world of architecture at this office for competitions till detailed planning. During my entire master studies I continued working by ZillerPlus Architects.

I made the master‘s degree at the Technical University of Munich. I really liked the Master‘s program because I got to know many other parts of the architecture. Firstly, i wrote theoretical works for example about transparency (Colin Rowe and Robert Slutzky) and an analysis of the designing inspired by the lyrics of Martin Elsässer and Peter Zumthor. Furthermore, a very interesting collaboration with the Munich Film School for the topic light and scenographic. The subjects for the projects had usually a real need for action, therefore there were always people from outside involved in the projects and we get real critics about our work. The TUM was for me a perfect mix of all parts of architecture. At the University I also worked as a tutor at the Chair of Visual Arts for Prof. Tina Haase. By the TUMünchen it was possible to go after my graduated a year abroad so i went to the Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto. It was a great experience to learn more about architecture of another country, to work it out and to be allowed to develop myself. I hope I could show you herewith that I am not only motivate but also that I follow that goal since a long time. I´m very interested in art and culture, I´m detailed and interested in technology and sustainability, in this way I think architecture is right for me.

Kind regards, Oliver Wagner

conversion of church - church Thomas On 01nazareth July 2012, the Nazareth in Munich Bogenhausen and the Immanuel Church merged to „Evangelisch-Lutherischen Kirchgemeinde München ImmanuelMann literature house Nazareth“. The Nazareth Church is since this date not empty, there are still evening services, parties with live music as well as markets and bazaars. It developed the idea after a conversion of the church, which offer space to connect the people and goes at the same time hand in hand with the previous use. By urban analysis, in which a high density of local supply, educational institution, sports facilities and housing crystallized it was a good option to choose a cultural institution. Suitable for Munich Bogenhausen I chose Thomas Mann as a spirit of the place. The Nobel laureate lived 39 years in Munich and nearly 20 years in Bogenhausen why he should serve as namesakes of the new cultural center. An archive, exhibition rooms, a literary cafe should be housed in the new building, the church stay as an event hall in which are readings, theater and music have a new stage.

On 1st of July 2012, the Nazareth church in Munich Bogenhausen and the Immanuel Church merged to „Evangelisch-Lutherischen Kirchgemeinde München ImmanuelNazareth“. The Nazareth Church is since this date not empty, there are still evening services, parties with live music as well as markets and bazaars. It developed the idea after a conversion of the church, which offer space to connect the people and goes at the same time hand in hand with the previous use. Through an urban analysis, that revealed a high density of local supply, educational institution, sports facilities and housing crystallized, then choosing a cultural institution was the best option. Suitable for Munich Bogenhausen I chose Thomas Mann as a spirit of the place. The Nobel laureate lived 39 years in Munich and nearly 20 years in Bogenhausen that‘s why he should serve as namesakes of the new cultural center. Archives, exhibition rooms, a literary cafe should be housed in the new building, the church stays as an event hall and offering a new stage for readings, theater and music events.

Metropolitan Dance Institution Munich was the title of my bachelor thesis. To develop was a dance academy with a performance hall, three different dance studios include the respective office and administration spaces, studios, rehearsal, classrooms and a library. The MDIM should arise on the Konigsplatz in Munich, close to the sculpture gallery, opposite the State Collection of Antiquities, the Propylaea and the Lehnbachhaus with the reconstruction of Norman Foster. The result in a solid, suspended concrete cube which is seemingly weightless sitting on the glass base and thereby reflected the lightness of the dance.

The project „Depot Deutsches Museum“ involved the implementation of a new storage and exhibition space. Regarding the collection´s size of the Deutsches Museum, it´s impossible to exhibit all in the same time, and many different storages in the surrounding of Munich. Therefore, we had to create a place in which everything can be stored, exhibitions can be organized and it is possible to access to the collection for research and training purposes.

For the TUMĂźnchen a new chemistry laboratory and training center should be established on campus Freising/Weinstephan. The property is located on the Weihenstephaner Berg and we adapted the building to the topology of the hill. The first floor is half underground and half out as a terrace. With a solid concrete plinth, it grows out of the hill and ended up in a lamination facade which let individually light in to the building.

Thresholde is a work that discussed the sacred threshold in the city, for example by entering a church. With a self-made camera obscura we studied places in the city in which one we had the feeling to pass a threshold. Be it by passing through the shopping area, in front of the vacant lot or the Feldherrnhalle in Munich. The thresholds have different definitions, whether political, social or religious.

The project net culture focused on the expansion of social platforms on the Internet, from the transport of private to public. It was an attempt to recreate many interpersonal relationships, positive and negative, as a sense of space. I opted for a model test and its photographic production. The main intention was the constant change of the premises, which convey the feeling of infinite freedom, at the same time to restrict the user or forcing him to adapt. Thereby developed the idea of a space which can change by a flexible skin. In addition, the room are stimulated by the use of different lights.

The task was to design a winter enclosure for the glass palace fountain. The concentrically place it´s like a vortex between the houses and actuated by cars, cyclists and pedestrians. The arrangement of the beams creates a transparency that resumes the story of the fountain, which originally stood in front of the Munich Glass Palace. Another inspiration came from the water itself, because this combines the characteristics of transparency, as well as the movement in the form of a water vortex. At the top, a layer should cover the fountain and protect it against water and the main problem of frozen water during the winter.
