They would use hit and run tactics that would only take a couple seconds, but the results were devastating. It was also very hard for the Americans to depict whether the people they were shooting at were communist or noncommunist.

Education In the 1960’s, there was an overload of children in schools because the babies from the baby boom, were ready to go to school. Many of the teachers used black boards, which are chalkboards, to teach their daily lessons. The teachers would use maps, books, and practice workbooks, just like we have today. The textbooks that they used in the 1960’s had a lot of art in them. The theme of the art had to do with the content, had an old time theme to the images. During this decade, there was an overload of students which led to an overload of teachers, which caused more schools in small towns to open. Unlike today, most of the teachers were male, but still some were female.
At the beginning of the decade, there was a crisis where America’s people were in desperate need of quality education systems. The gap between the learning needs of the country and the capacity of the American educational system to meet those needs was at a crisis point. This high demand for a better educational system, increased the quality of them causing more support to go towards these schools.
Film & Theatre One of the biggest movie stars of the decade was Marilyn Monroe. She is a beautiful blonde actress that was known to be a symbol of pure beauty. Her most famous movie was “Dumb Blonde.
"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring." - Marilyn Monroe "I want to grow old without facelifts... I want to have the courage to be loyal to the face I've made. Sometimes I think it would be easier to avoid old age. - Monroe West Side Story, is a modernized version of the classic drama, Romeo and Juliet, but instead of having the two feuding families, it is the Jets and the Puerto Rican. On the harsh streets of the upper west side, the situation becomes complicated when a gang member falls in love with the rival's sister.
The Civil Rights Movement The Civil Rights Movements began with mass protests against racial segregation and discrimination in the southern United States. These protests occurred in the mid 1960’s. This movement was thought of centuries ago, when many African American slaves began to resist the racial discrimination and the aspiration to abolish slavery. Although American slaves were emancipated as a result of the Civil War and were then granted basic civil rights through the passage of the Fourteenth and Fifteenth amendments to the U.S. Constitution, struggles to secure federal protection of these rights continued during the next century. Through long nonviolent protest, the civil rights movement of the 1950s and ’60s broke the pattern of public facilities’ being segregated by “race” in the Southern States. Led by Martin Luther King Jr., the blacks promoted their cause of equality.
This movement was a large step in progress in removing discrimination for African American people and segregation during the mid 1960s. With much help from accepting antisegregation white people, the African American society was shown to be an equal and supporting part to people’s everyday world. This part of history will be remembered for the African American people’s persistence in promoting and protesting towards their belief of equality for all races.

How Times have Changed
Times were way more simple back in the 1960s. Things were a lot cheaper. A brand new house back in the 60s would cost an average person about 12,700 dollars. A persons average income would be about 8,500 dollars. The most amazing thing was that gas only cost about 25 cents back in the day. This shows how much times have changed since then. The toys that kids liked most back then were, Barbie, GI Joe and anything space related.

Law and Order Jim Crow laws were passed by the South. By 1914 laws effectively created two separate societies; one black and one white. Blacks and whites could not go to the same bathroom, school, drink from the same water fountain, and ride in the same bus. Moreover, African Americans were denied access to beaches, swimming pools, parks, picnic areas and many hospitals.

Funky Fashion 1960s was a huge year for fashion. New styles were invented and several fashion statements were made. Women mostly used dresses, these dresses had a rectangle-like shape and commonly contained a charm that would make it different from other dresses, such as belts, buttons, or turtlenecks. As you can tell by picture below, red, green, blue, and yellow were popular colors used in the 60s. A plain colored shirt, a pea coat and some dark pants was the go-to outfit for men.
