T Y P O LO G Y FOOD HALL
Food halls are typically a collection of small, locally-owned restaurants or new dining concepts created by local chefs and entrepreneurs. Food Halls can offer an assortment of unique food and beverages that are usually cooked from scratch, raw ingredients and range in ethic background. They can offer a more high quality of food as compared to a food court, which is typically filled with national chain restaurants. Entering a food hall is a new type of dining experience than ever before and the options and possibilities are endless.
GOALS: - To have a plethora of seating for guests. - To have an effective path for visitors to circulate throughout the space. - To utilize daylight to reduce building energy consumption
APARTMENTS
FOOD HALL + APARTMENTS
Apartments are self-contained housing units within a building. The target users for these specific apartment and loft units are young professionals living in Jefferson City, Missouri. Offering studio, one bedroom, and two bedroom apartments gives tenants a variety of sizes and floorplans to choose from. As well, including on-site amenitites is appealing to future tenants when searching for a place to call home. With apartments mainly serving as a temporary housing option, it is important that the units can be universal for the changing demographics.
GOALS: - To offer privacy for tenants within their units. - Provide a safe path from the parking lot to residential units. - To offer amentities that can be utilized 24/7 for residents.
T H E _ S I T E FOOD HALL + APARTMENTS From analyzing the Sun Path’s effect on the site, I was able to see what side of the building will get more sunlight that can be used as a passive solar heating system, as well as natural light for

interior lighting during day hours.
The International Shoe Factory in Jefferson City has a great location not far from the Capital Building. Through contextual analyses, I was able to better understand the site around the International Shoe Factory and the potential that this adaptive reuse can make on this neighborhood of Jefferson City. The current site is across from low-income neighborhoods and I hope of this project is to bring a new life into the surrounding neighborhoods by adding loft apartments and a Food Hall that will attract people from all over mid-Missouri. 1101 EAST CAPITOL AVENUE | JEFFERSON CITY, MO 65101

The Capital City Market offers a variety of different food and retail vendors within the space. With many different vendor brands, it is important to have a cohesive brand and wayfinding system. Throughout the Food Hall, there are many different types of signage to help users navigate throughout the complex space. As well, all of the exterior doors along the front facade will have the Food Hall name, so users trying to access the Apartments will know that these spaces are not connected.
The Abobe Apartments are located on floors 2-5 of the abandoned International Shoe Factory building. The extrance to the leasing office is on the West side of the building, which does not face the road. So, for users to be able to navigate these spaces, I have incorporated exterior signage that is clear to users to find this entrance. As well, on the interior of the space, there clear signs posted on each level so tenants and guests can easily find the unit number they are looking for.

THERE IS A PLETHORA OF SEATING OPTIONS WITHIN THE FOOD HALL THAT OFFERS USERS BOTH PUBLIC AND INTIMATE SEATING CHOICES. THE BUILT-IN BOOTH SEATING OFFERS MORE PRIVACY FOR USERS TO GATHER WITH FRIENDS. BY INCORPORATING CONTRASTING COLORS AND DIM LIGHTING, THE CONCEPT OF HYGGE IS BROUGHT TO LIFE IN THE FOOD HALL SPACE. AS WELL, NOT OVERWHELMING THE SPACE AND HAVING A VERY MINIMAL DESIGN IS SOUTHING TO USERS.
