‘Eternal Love’ stacking set (gold, silver and diamond rings)
Editor’s
LETTER
Over the past few months, I have had the privilege of working with Gina Pattison Jewellery on this project. I approached Gina after falling in love with her pieces, the intricacy and design standards were like nothing else I had seen. In a saturated market, Gina’s pieces are unique and showered with love – something that is hugely refreshing. This approach is the guiding light when Gina starts any project, and I’m sure you’ll agree is the reason for her successes (as well as her incredible skill). This project initially started as my final major project for my Fashion Marketing degree, but I began to fall more and more in love with the world of jewellery and its construction. Upon meeting Gina, I felt I had to tell her story, and present her talent to the world in the form of a magazine. Gina has been nothing short of amazing, her support for my studies has been heart-warming and I couldn’t be more grateful. I felt it was important to merge the concept of a contract magazine promoting Gina with the chattier style of women’s fashion magazines – this piece needed to promote Gina but be an enjoyable read too. Throughout this publication, Gina’s fabulous work will be showcased together with editorial type styling pieces. Gina has built an amazing online fan base, and this is something I wanted to acknowledge throughout. This publication is designed to cater to the Gina Pattison Jewellery online audience, who respond to beautiful imagery. For this reason, I was lucky enough to work with Alex from 4ord Productions who shot most of the imagery seen throughout. I also felt it was vital to connect the digital sphere with traditional print, so you will see that there is a QR code placed in the manufacturing section of the magazine. To watch the creation of the ‘One Love’ necklace come to life, simply download a QR code reader from your relevant smartphone app store. Again, I would like to say a huge thank you to Alex at 4ord Productions for this incredible video. I hope you love Gina and her brand as much as I do. Love,
Olivia x

‘Eternal Love’ Stacking Set (gold, silver and diamond rings)
An Introduction to...
Gina Pattison Jewellery is a Yorkshire based jewellery company, specialising in unique one-off pieces. Gina Pattison Jewellery is synonymous with quality, style and elegance. Using the highest quality metals and ethically sourced stones, Gina Pattison Jewellery is the epitome of sophistication and longevity. Launched in 2012, the brand was founded by Gina Pattison, who spent many years working within the NHS before deciding to follow her heart and set up her own jewellery company. Gina designs, constructs and markets all of her pieces, making her a formidable force. The best way to understand Gina Pattison Jewellery is to ask Gina herself…
How would you describe Gina Pattison Jewellery?
I try to be fun, quirky, but timelessly elegant. I make simple designs using solid gold, silver and gemstones. My most recognisable elements are probably the handmade gold hearts on my spinning rings and necklaces – they have become a familiar part of my brand. Hence the heart made of my initials in my logo, that heart is also part of my gold tag animals, signifying the very soul of the animal and bringing it to life. Everything I use is ethically sourced and all my precious metals are recycled. I love how jewellery is one of the most commonly recyclable things, maybe because of the price of precious metals, especially at the moment, but gold and silver can be recycled indefinitely. I also repurpose old jewellery, so instead of just melting it down I can change or adapt a piece to give it a new life whilst retaining some of the story of the original. The brand has evolved as part of my personality. I make jewellery that I like, and luckily other people like it too. I’ve made some bold decisions, like the elephants and cats which I designed just because I like them. While that’s not playing to my typical audience, as long as someone likes what I do, I’ll be happy to carry on making new things. To be honest, if all my customer went away, I would keep making jewellery. My new pieces may be more experimental if they weren’t designed with my audience in mind, but I like to push myself and I’m heading that way anyway, I’d just like to get there quicker!
What inspired you to start up your own brand?
I started selling on Etsy (online marketplace) as ‘Jewellery by Gina’, and really that wasn’t a proper brand. My popularity was growing, and I didn’t have full control. That’s when I created Gina Pattison Jewellery. My customers already knew me as Gina and liked to identify with me as a person, so I thought what’s better than just using my name as the brand? The logo and brand identity are one of the few things that I had to get a professional in for. It’s clear that an experienced designer can knock up a logo and brand identity in next to no time! All the attempts I’ve tried at logos have just not looked the part.

“ .” The best thing I’ve learnt with new skills is just do something, don’t strive for perfection because you can never be perfect at everything
How did Gina Pattison Jewellery start?
I started in 2012 and it evolved naturally. I started by making pieces and practicing at home, and gradually people started getting in contact, asking for commissions and buying ready-made pieces. I’ve never progressed with a deliberate plan; I’ve just created pieces that I like and luckily other people like them too.
Have you run the business solely on your own? Or have you had support?
I’m a one-woman band - with a small business you tend to pick up a lot of skills. The best thing I’ve learnt with new skills is just do something, don’t strive for perfection because you can never be perfect at everything. If you try your hardest and keep trying, then the fact you’ve done anything puts you ahead of a lot of the competition. Facebook and Instagram were a mystery to me, but you try different things, and then you analyse what works and keep repeating it. I started off by running giveaways on Facebook and fans started joining, and so I’ve repeated these contests a lot. Now these competitions are a vital part of my brand and I must give away thousands of pounds worth of jewellery every year, but I’d rather do that and leave people happy, than plough all that money into advertising where only the platform benefits.
Where do you see Gina Pattison Jewellery in 5 years?
Maybe a bigger presence in shops, or actually in my own shop so I have more control over it. I’m looking to expand the gold tag range, but with hand carving each original piece it’s a time-consuming process. I then cast these to reproduce the design in solid silver, and I’d like to make more solid gold jewellery, but the price of gold at the moment is at an all-time high so a big commitment. I’m looking into vermeil too, which is a thick covering of gold plating. That’s the only type of plating that I’d consider as it won’t rub off but has the appearance of solid gold. I’m also looking more into casting new items. Up until know I have made every item individually by hand, but that’s not really sustainable as my company grows. It’s really abnormal for jewellers even half my size to be making everything individually. I’ll either have to skill up the cats to get making jewellery or find a way of increasing production without losing the handmade essence of the brand, and of jewellery made by me! Perhaps it’s a gradual move into jewellery designed by me rather than me actually hand making every stage. We’ll see what happens- I’m always open to learning new skills and adapting the brand into new directions – as I said before, I’m not following a predefined plan, I’m just trying things and seeing what works!

who is
GINA PATTISON?
Words by Olivia Rostron
Gina Pattison Jewellery only exists because of Gina herself. Her passion, commitment and determination are what made Gina Pattison Jewellery the success it is today. To truly fall in love with Gina Pattison Jewellery, it’s important to understand the brains behind the operation. Let me introduce Gina Pattison…
How would you describe yourself?
Well my husband describes me as a sinister jewellery-octopus - all arms legs and fingers, zooming about creating delightful silver and gold creations. I think that’s right – I’m not sure about the sinister bit though! I’d suggest a fun-loving jewellery-octopus.
When did begin?
your
love
for
jewellery
I can trace my love of jewellery back to one occasion when I was young in the 1980s. I’m showing my age, but I used to love Madonna in the 1980s – ‘Desperately Seeking Susan’ era. I saved up my pocket money and bought a plastic ring just like one Madonna used to wear and I was transfixed by it. I’ve still got it somewhere! It could have gone either way, I could have become a lover of cheap plastic fashion. As I got older with access to more money, I bought silver and gold jewellery instead.

PAGE 16
How did you learn to construct your own jewellery?
I‘ve always been creative, but I believe everyone is in their own way – it’s just about finding the right field to be creative in. Whether it’s creating physical bits and bobs like I do, or writing computer code or whatever, it’s great to have an output for creativity. I joined a silversmithing evening course in 2012, not as a deliberate choice but silversmithing really stood out because of my love of jewellery. I’d never considered that I could make it myself but my first class was a revelation. Everyone was expecting a calm pass time of quietly forming beads and wire into simple jewellery, but what we experienced was vigorous fire, loud noises and burning smells! The delight of whacking hot metal with big hammers. I was surprised at the violence that can go into forming the daintiest of pieces, but also thrilled at the opportunity to dive in. Eight years later I’m whacking metal every day and couldn’t be happier. New pieces usually come up through experimentation. The only pieces I’ve really made with a plan are the gold tag animals. And this is because they are so complicated to make with so many processes that I could never have done it without a plan.
How would you describe the gold tag animals?
I really like cats and elephants, so it seemed the obvious choice to try and make some out of precious metals. I’d never represented an animal before and I learnt all about wax carving, casting and finishing, but I was still struggling. Even as I created more and more life-like elephants, they always lacked something – they never had a spark - they didn’t make me feel how I did about the real animals they weren’t real! And then I had a brainwave. No matter how lifelike I made them, my animals would never be real without the soul, the heart, the spark, whatever you want to call it. So, I went back to the drawing board and created the most basic elephant I could deliberately made to look like he’s put together from individual flat pieces. This time I added a spark. I added a gold heart on a solid gold tag, and this time he came to life. It’s the spark that makes animals so awesome, and this is the most elephanty elephant I can ever create!

“.”
After meeting Gina for the first time, I was totally inspired and looked up to her ‘girl boss’ attitude. At 23, I am still trying to understand where my passions lay, and what makes my heart sing. Gina is a selfproclaimed one-woman band with two children. She successfully manages the jewellery itself (from design to construction), marketing, sales, logistics and customer enquiries – impressive, right? I wanted to understand further what inspires her, and what lead to the start-up of such a gorgeous jewellery brand.
Obviously, Gina has a natural flare for jewellery design and construction, but I wanted to know what fed her mind, leading to the innovative creations she releases. What I uncovered when speaking to Gina explains what underpins her brand. Gina has grown a grassroots business that speaks for her personality, and it teaches us that if you stay true to yourself, you can be very successful.
Firstly, Gina mentioned fashion designers whose “style is quirky”, in particular Charlotte Olympia. Charlotte Olympia designs tend to centre around the era of Hollywood cinema glamour and the pinups of the 1940’s. All designs are luxurious with a sense of humour, matching Gina’s personality that shines through. Reading the Gina Pattison Jewellery website, it is clear that Gina is a very approachable businesswoman. Her product listings all have a humorous touch, and her gold tag animals are full of personality. Gina also mentioned Broken Hare and Sarah-Jane Szikora, again because of their intricate designs but mostly the personality injected into their work. Broken Hare sculpt animal figures for wall displays, similar to traditional stag heads. Unlike hunters who display their prey, these sculptures are colourful and promote health – they seem happy almost. Gina said she is “constantly wanting” one of these pieces, again explaining her creation of animal pendants. When speaking to Gina, her determination and selfmotivation shone through. She hasn’t waited to own a Broken Hare piece; she has created her own version in the form of jewellery – this is key to understanding Gina Pattison Jewellery.
Gina’s brand is a collection of her loves, with a combination of passion, drive and careful consideration.
Gina’s brand is a collection of her loves, with a combination of passion, drive and careful consideration. Understanding Sarah-Jane Szikora also helped me understand Gina further. SarahJane Szikora is a Yorkshire-based artist who specialises in colour and abstract art. Her art exaggerates features and offers an insight into her world. What I found most interesting about Sarah-Jane Szikora is her discussion of societal issues through her art, for instance her use of slim vs larger figures, challenging the dieting obsession amongst millennials. This is extremely potent as Sarah-Jane Szikora suffered from an eating disorder as a child. I was really engaged by Sarah-Jane and saw her influence on Gina’s work. Gina’s releases give a snapshot into her life, from the dainty hearts used to create the popular ‘One Love’ necklaces, to the personalised ‘Family of Hearts’ necklaces. If you follow Gina’s social media accounts, she often mentions ‘Mr P’ – her husband. Having met them both, it is clear that Mr P offers Gina support with her brand and Gina really values him. Gina also mentioned her two children very quickly after initially meeting her. It was clear how proud she is of both of her boys, and how seriously she takes her responsibility as a mother. Knowing this, it is clear to see that family and love underpin Gina Pattison Jewellery and Gina Pattison herself. Gina is a prodigy for women taking charge of their own destiny, following their hearts and pushing their own businesses. I am sure you’ll agree that Gina is very inspirational, and her brand is something exceptionally rare.

‘One Love’ Necklace with Solid Gold or Silver Heart
Silver is used in most Gina Pattison Jewellery pieces due to its lack of tarnishing and hard-wearing properties. Using silver means that pieces stay looking clean and less worn for much longer. In addition, silver reflects light well meaning that your favourite piece can be admired by other people too. At Gina Pattison Jewellery, all pieces are handmade, meaning that any design can be altered to cater to your lifestyle. For more information about custom orders, please contact Gina via:

January: Garnet
A deep red stone, the word garnet derives from the 14th century where “gernet” meant deep red. Further to this, the Latin word of “granatum” means the seed of the pomegranate, again linking to the deep red stone. Garnet stones are often found in a range of rocks such as igneous and sedimentary meaning they are a popular choice. Red stones look beautiful in a range of jewellery designs, making this a very versatile stone.
February: Amethyst
The amethyst is a deep purple stone linking back to the ancient Greeks. The word amethyst derives from the Greek word “methustos”, which translates as intoxicated. It was believed that the wearers of amethyst stones would become drunk! As a quartz stone, amethyst stones are found on white sandy beaches. The purple colouration is a very desirable impurity.
March: Aquamarine
An aquamarine stone is a sea blue colour; the world aquamarine is actually a combination of the words aqua (meaning water) and marine (meaning sea). Some believe the name also came as a result of the sailors who were given the stones as a good luck charm. The stone is known as a type of beryl, found in igneous and metamorphic rocks. Primarily mined in Utah, the stone is also mined in other locations worldwide.
April: Diamond
Diamonds are the most well-known birthstones and are often clear stones. They are known as the rarest gemstone and are prized by many. Interestingly, diamond is one the toughest minerals on earth due to their molecular lattice structure. Diamonds are actually a form of carbon, that is formed due to high pressure.
May: Emerald
Emerald stones are very noticeable green stones, again originating in ancient Greece. The Greek word “smaragdus” translates as green hence the name emerald. Often found in South America, emeralds are rare stones and demonstrate wealth. PAGE 31
June: Pearl
Pearls are well-known and extremely popular. Formed by living organisms known as molluscs, they build the identifiable pearlescent layer around grains of sand. Pearls are often found in China, Indonesia and the Philippines, and have seen popularity across the decades. The iridescent white colouring means that pearls suit all metal settings and are easy to incorporate into your everyday jewellery.
July: Ruby
Ruby red stones are a shocking deep red colour and look beautiful when caught by light. Ruby is a corundum that is coloured by the chromium particles within the stone. The name ruby comes from the Latin for red “rubeus”. The ruby is known to represent life and known to increase courage.
August: Peridot
A peridot is a less well-known stone and is a grass green colour. Again, deriving from the Greek word “peridona” meaning ‘giving plenty’, the stone represents generosity. Found in igneous rocks, Hawaii is a hotspot for peridot stones – Hawaiian people even believe the stone represents the volcano goddess Pele.
September: Sapphire
The beautiful blue sapphire is most similar to the ruby mentioned above. The name sapphire comes from the Latin word “sapphirus” meaning blue stone. Like diamonds, sapphires are extremely strong, meaning they are less likely to scratch and show wear. Often found in India, sapphires are also used in industrial settings due to their strength.
PAGE 32
October: Opal
Opal’s are beautiful mixed coloured stones and are formed due to a range of minerals with different chemical compositions. The word opal comes from the Greek word “opallios” which roughly translates as “to see a change in colour”. Most opals are found in Australia due to their climate that helps to leave the silica dioxide needed for the identifiable colour finish.
November: Topaz
A topaz is a stone with yellow hues and looks beautiful when matched with yellow gold. The name topaz comes from the Greek name for St John’s Island located in the Red Sea known as “Topazios”. Topaz stones are often found to be colourless, but rare impurities create the sort after yellow version. Topaz’s are found in different places across the globe, ranging from Australia to Sri Lanka.
December: Tanzanite
Tanzanite stones are a deep blue colour and have a unique chemical composition. The tanzanite is a rare gem found in Tanzania and gets its blue traits from the chemical known as vanadium. The tanzanite is one of the rarest stones, meaning that stones such as zircon and turquoise are often used when representing the month of December.
Other: Fire Opal
A fire opal is a beautiful translucent opal comprising of warm colours which often range from orange to gold with flashes of green. This stone is perfect if your birthstone doesn’t match your style, as the warm hues are easy to wear with most colour schemes. Often referred to as Mexican fire opals, Mexico is the largest supplier of the fire opal.

THE PSYCHOLOGY of Stones
PAGE 34 Silver wedding bands with black diamonds
Jewellery has been a popular phenomenon for decades, with the earliest form of jewellery worn around 90,000 years ago. But what makes the jewellery sector so special? Regardless of race, culture or religion, people use jewellery as a form of self-expression. Many psychologists believe that differentiation from the masses is important to most, with different generations fearing fading into the background. Stones are the easiest way to add colour and personality to any look. Special jewellery has a unique aura that doesn’t fade and is often used to signify milestones in people’s lives - from graduations to engagements or the birth of a child. With the surge in popularity of mindfulness and mediation, it is clear to see why the psychology behind the meaning of stones is of high interest.
What does your favourite stone colour say about you?
Blue -
Blue has long been considered as the colour of love and fidelity.
Green -
Legends have it that green stones allow people to see into the future! But more often it is believed that green stones protect against illness and bring good luck.
Red-
Red stones are often linked to health, wealth, wisdom and success in love.
Purple -
Purple stones such as amethysts are believed to keep the wearer clear-headed and quick-witted.
Pearl -
Pearls are commonly linked to innocence and purity, due to the white colour.
Opal -
Receivers of opal stones are gifted with hope, purity and truth. Whether you buy into the story behind your gemstones, it’s often nice to have a little tale to tell. Gina Pattison Jewellery centres around jewellery being personal to you and telling a story, so why not use stones to tell yours? Visit www.ginapattison.com to explore our full range of jewellery pieces incorporating an array of stones. As with all pieces, the handmade nature means that personalisation is always possible, contact Gina for more information. ETHICAL
Sourcing

PAGE 36
At Gina Pattison Jewellery, we believe that ethically sourcing stones and materials is our duty. We are committed to using carefully considered stones and work closely with suppliers to understand their origin. Any waste materials are sent back to the supplier’s ‘scrap pots’ and are melted down to be reused. All Gina Pattison Jewellery packing is eco-friendly and recyclable, meaning the entire process has an environmental focus. Further to this, we are avid recyclers, offering to repair and restore previously cherished jewellery pieces. We are also able to polish/clean used pieces or melt down unwanted jewellery. We can then design bespoke creations to the customer’s specification using the recycled materials – the ultimate form of recycling. This service is also great for maintaining sentiment but giving preloved jewellery a new lease of life. For more information, please contact Gina or visit our website – www.ginapattison.com.
Why is ethically sourcing important? As with most products, the manufacture and sourcing are important to the more environmentally conscious consumer. Buying ethically sourced jewellery from us gives you the peace of mind that your purchase isn’t having a catastrophic environmental and social impact. Environmentally sourced stones meet a specific standard, do not fund conflict and do not exploit workers regardless of their position in the supply chain.
What makes a stone ethically sourced?
One -
All individuals involved in the stone supply chain are paid a fair living wage.
Two -
All employees are safe whilst at work, and no employees are children/underage.
Three -
No person is forcibly displaced off land due to mining.
Four -
All stones are conflict-free, meaning they do not fund violence.
Five -
Environmental impacts are kept to an absolute minimum.
Six -
Stones can be traced back to their source.

TREND
Is it here to stay? The trend kickstarted in 2017 after Paco Rabanne unveiled their AW17 mixed metallic toned collection, and the trend shows no sign of slowing down. Whether it’s a touch of metal mixing or using a full spectrum of metal tones for a full colour palette, mixing tones has been endorsed by the masses.
‘It’s In The Stars’ Ring
Gina Pattison Jewellery is the epitome of mixing metal tones, from the ‘It’s in the Stars’ ring that mixes a silver ring with yellow gold star detailing, to the ‘One Love’ necklace that comprises a silver necklace with a dainty gold heart detailing (more details at www. ginapattison.com). Below are our top three styling tips with pieces to help you achieve the look:
Styling Tip One
Styling Tip Two
The tri-coloured trend. One of the most classic takes on mixing metals, this style was inspired by artist Piet Mondrian. His 20th century work incorporated block techniques and materials ranging from chain and tube, creating modern lines, stacked silhouettes and mixed metals. To achieve this style, we recommend stacking silver, yellow gold and rose gold for that triple metal look – the below pieces are great for achieving this.
Symmetry. Wear a single coloured ring stack on one hand and emulate this on the other hand in a different metal tone. This elegant look is both sophisticated and put together, without being too harsh on the eye. The below pieces are some of our favourite stacking rings:
‘One Love’ Necklace
Styling Tip Three However your heart desires – there are no rules! Bring out your creativity, whether you love colour, statement pieces or a more minimalist style. Use a combination to create a kaleidoscope type arrangement. Consider using stones to give your overall look cohesion. For instance, use cool blue stones in a gold setting to incorporate a cooler silver stacking ring. Or a red stone to compliment the blush tones of rose gold.

RING STACKING Six Tips for the Perfect Look
02
Know your size!
Successful stackers have well-fitting jewellery that seamlessly sit together, like pieces in a jigsaw. Take time to measure your designated finger*, and make sure the jewellery will be comfortable whilst also making you feel great.
Use jewellery to tell your story
Do you love watching sunrises? Or enjoy a walk on a weekend? Use colours and textures to tell the world who you are, or who you aim to be. Jewellery is the best way to inject personality into all of your looks, whatever the occasion.
06
Maintain balance
04
Match a statement piece with a simpler complementary design. This will guide the eye, and help to balance varying styles, without confusing the overall look.
*Here at Gina Pattison Jewellery, we stock a size gauge. See online for details – www.ginapattison.com. We are also able to resize existing jewellery, please visit our website for more information.

Casual
OCCASION
We all love jeans and a crisp white t-shirt, right? For this relaxed look, reach for your thinner pieces. The more simple and dainty pieces are easy to mix and stack, making for a breezy layered look. We recommend:
Necklaces
Wear two necklaces, one on a longer chain than the other to add depth. The best way to achieve this look is to wear a solid silver handwriting necklace on a shorter chain with the ‘One Love’ necklace on a longer chain underneath.
Bracelets
A bangle with a personal touch but simple aesthetic is perfect for your lazy Sundays. We recommend our chunky maxi bangle with a message that makes your heart warm.
Rings
Choose styles that complement, but don’t be afraid to mix stones or colours. Try to split jewellery proportionally across both hands for symmetry and balance. We love the heart motif, mix our ‘Be Mine’ ring and solid silver twist ring for variation but uniformity across your whole look.

Professional
OCCASION
In a professional environment you need to look polished, your jewellery shouldn’t detract from you and what you have to say. Pieces must be simple, and not make noise (jangly pieces are a no go). While workplaces are often more casual now than ever before, we think it’s best to leave some jewellery for special occasions, so when you wear it, the item feels more special. We recommend:
Necklaces
A simple, yet intricate piece is great for work. Our favourite ‘It’s In The Stars’ necklace is ideal for this setting. The gold star shows personality whilst staying work appropriate.
Rings
A subtle metal band with a minimal design is perfect for work. Our ‘Always’ silver spinning ring with gold and diamond detailing will do just the trick!

Evening
OCCASION
This is the time for chunky, statement pieces with colour and a story to tell. Whether you’re wearing a cocktail dress or little black dress, jewellery adds that extra special touch to your outfit. We recommend: Choosing one showstopper piece whether that’s a necklace or ring.
Necklaces
If this is your showstopper, opt for the beautiful ‘Infinity Love’ sterling silver spiral necklace. If not, a dainty simple design adds elegance and interest without being overpowering. We love the ‘Sweetheart’ necklace for a simpler touch.
Rings
Our favourite showstopper ring is ‘Green with Envy’- the pop of colour brings drama to any outfit. Alternatively, choose a slimmer style such as the silver band ring with an 18ct gold open heart.

RINGS
All wedding rings showcased are unique and come as a matching set. Gina is able to create these designs to order especially for you, using traditional silver-smithing techniques. His & Hers, His & His, Hers & Hers, it’s up to you. His band is hand-formed to size from a metal of your choice. Gina is then able to inset selected diamonds or stones in a design to suit you. Her band bears a matching design and is a daintier model of His ring - exact in all respects, but of a slenderer scale. Of course, you can have two “his” or “her” bands instead. Further to this, Gina is able to add a personalised message or date with a special meaning to you at no extra charge (there is room for up to 20 hand-stamped characters in each ring).

Chunky Maxi Bangle
This solid silver bangle tells your story with your own hand-stamped message. A message can be stamped inside or outside of the bangle or both - it’s up to you. It’s a gorgeous piece of silver, and at 6mm wide by 2mm thick it is reassuringly chunky. As this style is an open bangle, there are two size options - medium length (15cm) or large length (17.5cm). Solid gold hearts can be added to both ends of the bangle for an extra special touch.

‘Family of Hearts’ Necklace
This is a silver pendant necklace with difference - it’s personal to you. All hearts are made from solid silver with a hand-stamped message down the side. Whether that is a name, a date, it’s up to you - this is YOUR necklace! There is room for 9 letters or numbers down the side of each heart. The hearts are 3-5 centimeters long depending on the lettering, and the letters themselves are 2mm tall meaning they’re easily readable while still tantalisingly discreet. Stones can be added for extra sparkle, please visit www.ginapattison.com for more information. PAGE 79

There’s nothing more personal than a loved one’s handwriting. Whether it’s a signature, a loving name or a meaningful word, These necklaces are designed to give you a copy of some special handwriting to treasure forever.
How it works
Provide Gina with a word or two, written by your loved one in their own handwriting. Gina will then saw it by hand from solid silver, before finishing it immaculately to make a truly personal necklace. To do this, simply upload a photo of the writing when you order at www.ginapattison.com. Gina will then scale the words onto a pendant - 3cm wide for up to 6 letters and 5cm wide for up to 12 letters. If you want a larger or smaller necklace, please contact Gina via the website.

Solid Silver Animal Necklace (with gold heart tag)
PAGE 85
If you know Gina personally, you will know that she is a huge animal lover. As with all Gina Pattison Jewellery pieces, Gina’s heart and soul goes into her designs - she creates what she loves. It is for this reason that her animal pieces are a firm favourite. In 2019, Gina set herself a challenge, to learn wax carving and bring animals to life. Initially her aim was to create her favourite animal, an elephant, in solid silver. Gina had never practiced the techniques required to actualise this elephant. She learnt wax carving, casting and finishing, and practiced repeatedly. As the elephants became more and more lifelike, there was something missing – the elephant simply didn’t feel real. It was then that Gina had a breakthrough, she realised that an elephant cannot be real without a heart. After going back to the drawing board, Gina created a basic elephant figure. She intentionally used individual flat pieces and kept the model basic. Gina then added the elephant’s gold tag – its heart and soul. It was then that the elephant finally came to life!
PAGE 86
The elephant you see is reassuringly heavy, weighing around 16g. Measuring 30mm from the tip of his trunk to the end of his tail, he is the perfect companion. He is cast from sold sterling silver and is brought to life by his solid 9ct gold tag (bearing the Gina Pattison Jewellery logo). After creating an elephant, Gina didn’t stop there. The next animal to be born was Tigerlily, modelled from Gina’s very own feline partner in crime, Lily (or Princess Tigerlily to be precise). As before, Gina used the same construction method and bound together individual flat metal pieces into a catlike figure. Tigerlily was born when she donned her gold tag heart. Tigerlily is the same dimensions as her elephant friend mentioned above. With both animal pendants being fairly large in size, we recommend a 22-inch silver belcher chain. Gina is always up for a challenge, please contact her if you would like your beloved furry friend to be recreated in silver. CARE

CARING FOR JEWELLERY
It’s all about Chemistry... Silver tarnishes because of a simple chemical reaction. Silver reacts with the sulphur compounds in the air, leaving behind a black tarnish known as silver sulphide. Luckily, when silver items are placed in hot salty water with aluminium foil, the tarnish transfers from the silver to the aluminium, leaving silver jewellery looking like new! Here is a step by step guide to cleaning your silver pieces: Step 1 – Find a heat-resistant dish. Place aluminium tin foil in the bottom to line the dish. Also find some table salt and baking soda for later on. Step 2 – Put 1 tablespoon of baking soda, and 1 tablespoon of table salt onto the aluminium foil. Step 3 – Add boiling water onto the foil, ensuring the water is deep enough to submerge your jewellery. Add the jewellery into the water. Step 4 – Leave the water to cool for 2–3 minutes. Step 5 – Remove your jewellery from the dish. . Step 6 – Run the jewellery under cold water, and then polish. We recommend using a lint-free cloth. Repeat as regularly as necessary! Silver tarnishes faster in areas with high humidity and pollution, so clean more often if you live in sunnier climates. We recommend that all jewellery is removed before the wearer partakes in strenuous activities such as gardening or exercising, as these activities risk damage to the ring or jewellery settings. If significant damage does occur, we do offer a repair service (a consultation with Gina would be needed beforehand), please see www.ginapattison.com for more information. PAGE 93

GIVE THE GIFT of Gina
If you don’t know what to buy that special someone, why not buy them a gift certificate? Our certificates have no expiry date, and come in a box along with a ring sizer and chocolates, so the lucky recipient will still have something nice to open. Gina is also able to post certificates using next day delivery (if ordered by midday). If you’re even more in a hurry, certificates can also be emailed. If you have any special requests, please add them in the ‘personalisation & extra info’ box when purchasing certificates on our website - www.ginapattison. com. You can also add an email address here if you’re having certificates emailed or want an email copy. Further to this, Gina can also create a gift voucher for any specific items. For example, if you want to give a ‘two hearts beat as one’ ring as a voucher, simply purchase as normal on our website and in the ‘extra info’ box, add that you would like a voucher instead of the actual ring. Gina will then create the voucher incorporating the specific piece, and place this with a ring sizer in a box. If the recipient changes their mind, the voucher can also be used towards an alternative piece.
