About this Portfolio
Garden of the Gods, Colorado
Glacier National Park, Montana
My first meaningful interactions with the landscape happened on the road trips my family took throughout my childhood. Every summer, we’d load up the car and set out for the mountain peaks of Colorado, the red deserts of Utah, or the lush northern forests of Maine. I came to realize the profound and almost magical impact that the landscapes around us can have on our lives and our spirits. These experiences have had a huge influence on my work, and a very specific visual influence on this portfolio. The retro feel of this design draws from my love of kitschy Americana and collection of postcards. After all, what better way is there to experience the landscape than the classic American Route 66 road trip? I’ve also incorporated imagery that illustrates my design process, because creating a design from start to finish is a trip in and of itself. The works in this portfolio are intended to highlight different places I have traveled--each of which has taught me something new. This portfolio is not only a journey in the geographic sense, but a representation of my journey as a designer.
“Once you have traveled, the voyage never ends, but is played out over and over again in the quietest chambers. The mind can never break off from the journey. --Pat Conroy

A&D District
Located at a currently neglected former industrial site, this project combines commercial, residential, and public uses to create a new community in Athens, GA. This design emphasizes walkability, sustainability, and diverse housing. One of its most significant features is its relationship with the planned greenway trail, connecting the site to the larger Athens community.

Haig Park
Haig Park is an historic park located in Canberra, Australia. Recently, it has been the subject of a heated debate over whether it should be developed in order to reduce pressure on Canberra’s housing market, or left as it is to preserve its historic significance. An entire semester was spent creating a holistic plan for the park that would incorporate new development and amenities while maintaining the park’s original character.
