About ME
Skills
A multi-disciplinary artist with a background in illustration. Versatility is key, I boast a diverse record of creative work experiences across multiple industries, involving product development, licensing, 3D modeling/fabrication and graphic design. Perpetually cheerful and optimistic, I’m an avid fan of movies, pop culture, history and comfort foods.
Primary Secondary
Photoshop, Illustrator, ZBrush, Rhino 3D Blender, Modelmaking, Brand Licensing
To approach challenges not with limitations ‘no, because’ but rather with imagination first, ‘yes, if’ - Mark Skylar, Disney Imagineer
Having worked in fastpaced studios, I’m adept at brainstorming and rapid sketches, catering to the specification of our clients until every detail of their imagination is faithfully represented.
I excel in breaking down briefs to visualize, combine and consolidate ideas, followed by revision and fine tuning, always keeping in mind the nature of the productions and their respective lead time.
Samples of modular architectural elements, produced for Heaven’s Vault, a procedually generated game by Inkle Studios.
Drawing inspiration from myths and memories of home, I embrace a variety of influences. Instead of a conscious personal style, I focus on developing techniques and draftmanship to fit the need of different projects.
I specialize in characters and organic sceneries. Effective storytelling is the main drive behind my paintings, I strive to create fantastical imageries with subtle nuisances.
Since my employment as a full-time digital artist, I stopped taking on commisions but continue to create personal work making trinkets and prints, developing a small brand called the Temple of Tales.
I recently collaborated with the West End production of Frozen the musical. I was tasked with developing a toy theatre version of the stage, complete with interchangeable scenes and a cast of characters .
Blending the traditional style of paper theatres with Disney’s distinctive look is a challenge I handled with care and lots of experimentations.
My current role offers me the opportunity to design merchandise for a myriad of household media franchise. It is vital to have thorough knowledge of the IPs in order to build connections with the often very passionate fan base.
In my previous employment, I interpreted various concepts to be fabricated physically. This included movie props, installations and art pieces such as McQueen’s Vanita Skull, which involved 3D printing and delicate gilding work.
I helmed the production of Hussein Chalayan’s masks for London Fashion Week. Working closely with the designer, I developed his sketches into sculpted models, rendering along the way to aid his decision process before 3D printing and finishing the masks by hand.
Familiar with a variety of processes, materials and suppliers, I keep in mind the practicality of projects and find ways that are the most accurate yet economic. This knowledge lends itself to my personal projects, such as the vinyl toy on the right, Mataguna.
I produced various prototypes via 3D printing, molding and casting in resin. The figurines are modular and interchangable. I also designed the packaging via woodblock prints with the help of CNC machines.
Despite working primarily in the art department, my work allowed me first-hand involvement with various projects. We were required to be extremely versatile and swiftly fill into different roles when required.
Other Works Always acquiring new skills, I’ve dabbled in animation, comics, set design and engineering work. I am a fast learner and am forever passionate.
My comic, Terradea, is inspired by the complex histroy of modern China, with a twist of fantasy.
I thrive when thrown into deep ends. With experiences ranging from building the interior framework for Burberry’s flagship store, to a dunk tank for Love Island, I am truly confident in my skills and versatility.
