Alishiya Holland finds inner peace below the surface.

BORN AND RAISED IN HAWAI‘I, ALISHIYA HOLLAND IS RELATIVELY NEW TO SPEARFISHING. Even though she has lived near the beach her whole life, Alishiya has only recently connected with the ocean and Mother Nature. About five years ago, she relocated to Kona on the Island of Hawai‘i, a move that put ocean-going activities at the center of her world. With the help of her brother, Alishiya learned to spearfish from the shallow reefs to the dark blue depths. Soon, she fell in love with the world beneath the surface, which instilled in her respect for the ‘āina and a passionate appreciation for the ocean and its inhabitants. Now, Alishiya dives three to four times a week, catching only enough fish for family, friends, and the momand-pop restaurants near her home.
