ARCHITECTURE P O R T F O L I O FOURTH YEAR B.ARCH | SELECTED WORKS 2016-2019
OMAIR FUAAD GODIL
I don’t think architecture is only about shelter, is only about a simple enclosure. It should be able to excite you, calm you, make you think. - Zaha Hadid
An aspiring and ambitious Architecture student, currently studying in 4th Year seeking position as an Intern in a firm that provides an engaging and creative environment . As a student I’m looking forward to learn new and different approches to architecture. To me, process of designing is as important as the product. Optimistic, practical approach and patience makes me adaptive to new learnings.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTER | SEM06 | UTTAN, MUMBAI | INDIA | BRIEF: This Architecture Design Project is based on the theme of “sustaining humanities, an architecture for people, place and time, with a social impact and the resolution and integration of technology, environment and cultural context in architectural design. Sustainability design is a fundamental solution in our time within global and regional contexts. AIM: To design a Vocational Training and skill development Institute with Community Center, Food plaza, and Small scale Agro Industry.
LOCATION PLAN
SITE CONTEXT The site had a rich community dominated context with building heights not more than 9mts. There were over looking terraces and balconies enabling people to actively interact with each other as well as for either storage or drying
purposes. Site also had a beach in context along with The Velankini Church which made it a tourist attraction site. Gathering spaces and abundant vegetation are the key elements of the site.
N
SITE PLAN
AVAILABLE VIEWPORTS GIVE AN IDEA OF ZONING ON THE SITE. SPACES THAT REQUIRED VIEWS WERE SET IN THESE AREAS FOLLOWED BY CONNECTING SPACES .
+
ALL THESE FEATURES ARE INCULCATED IN THE DESIGN BY USAGE OF MULTIPLE TERRACES WHICH MAKES THE SPACE MORE LIVELY AND ACTIVE
THERE ARE THREE PHASES OF INTERACTION . ONE BETWEEN THE STREET AND THE VERANDA ,SECOND IS WITHIN THE HOUSES AND THIRD IS BETWEEN MAN AND NATURE.ALSO THE SPACES ARE USED EFFICIENTLY FOR EXAMPLE THE BALCONIES ARE USED TO COMMUNICATE. THE TERRACES ARE USED TO DRY FISHES OR PAPAD ETC.

BRIEF: This Architecture Design Project is based on the theme of “sustaining humanities, an architecture for people, place and time, with a social impact and the resolution and integration of technology, environment and cultural context in architectural design. Sustainability design is a fundamental solution in our time within global and regional contexts. AIM: To design a Food Hub , from market to restaurant, creating a story of how food is turned from raw to final stage. In addition to this there were workshop spaces, an auditorium and museum to spread the joy and knowledge of food and cooking.
INHERITANCE Mumbai has a popular and diverse food history. It is known for its various dishes that belong to different cusines and cultures. The strong flavours have been inherited since ages. The roots of the recipies remains the same but its given a modern twist hence making the food culture imprecise, flexible yet perfect. Hence the aim was to design a Food Hub.

KUTCH HYBRID SALT INDUSTRY. | SEM04 | KUTCH, GUJARAT | INDIA | BRIEF: The project is less about the built but more about the journey to the built. about experience, or the engagement of the space with the experiencer. It is about the relationship between the Context (the place) and the experiencer (the user) and the ability to recontextualise based on new learnings. AIM: To design a Hybrid Salt Industry that would give the user an experience of how salt is produced from raw stage to the final product by creating a series of view frames to give a complete picture i.e. montage.

REDEMPTION | SEM03 | MAZGAON , MUMBAI | INDIA |
BRIEF: Translation of identites into spaces. Homes become strong representations of personal identity. The house then becomes a complex agglomeration of ideas, histories, beliefs, aspirations of both the occupant and the architect. The design project poses the question :WHAT IS MINE FOR SOMEONE ELSE? AIM: To design a house for Mr.Donwin Baptista, who has been a resident of mathar pakhadi for a very long time and has witnessed the process of evolution of the space.
SITE PLAN

Mr. DONWIN BAPTISTA
Concept : To create an inception, old mathar pakhadi in the present time which was achieved by allowing streets to be a part of the house and making spaces interactive and lively just like old times. An old street was observed and hence similar characteristics were inculcated in the newly developed area where the new house for the character was proposed. T H E N

AN ARCHITECT’S HOUSE The project is about creating an interior space for an architect, which had to have a working space, a meeting area and a bedroom for two followed by other mandatory spaces. We tried to keep the mood board as earthy as possible. The black basalt rock wall is the highlight of the project. Flooring converting into the sofa seating adds artisty elements to the house. The placement of bedroom and living room enables both to capture the beautiful view.

To provide meaningful architecture is not to parody history but to articulate it. - Daniel Libeskind
CAMATANAM | FOAID 2019 | 2nd PRICE THE PROJECT IS PROPOSED IN PONDICHERRY. THE CONCEPT OF CHARBAGH WAS INSPIRED FROM THE QUADRUPLE DISTRICTS OF PONDICHERRY. THE MUGHAL CHARACTERED HOLIDAY RESORT PROJECT CATERS TO ALL THE SENSES OF HUMAN BODY THROUGH ITS DESIGN. THE HAMMAM, RIGHT IN THE CENTRE IS THE HEART OF THE DESIGN. A HAMMAM IS A TURKISH PUBLIC BATH USED FOR CLEANSING AND RELAXING. IT STARTS WITH RELAXATION IN A ROOM HEATED BY A CONTINUOUS FLOW OF HOT, DRY AIR, ALLOWING THE BATHER TO PERSPIRE FREELY. BATHERS MAY THEN MOVE TO AN EVEN HOTTER ROOM BEFORE THEY WASH IN COLD WATER. AFTER PERFORMING A FULL BODY WASH AND RECEIVING AÂ MASSAGE, BATHERS FINALLY RETIRE TO THE COOLING-ROOM FOR A PERIOD OF RELAXATION.
