letter from the editor Angela Bassett had with Tre before dropping him to his father. At the age of 12 I adopted the same foot fetish Marcus Graham had in Boomerang. Those are everlasting memories and I love my mother for that. Movies play a big factor in our lives and provide us with a 2 hour vacation from reality.
Why I love movies Because of Halle Berry Because of Don Corleone Because you made a time machine….out of a Delorean? Because of Spike Lee Photo by Ron Morales
I am often asked, especially by people who don’t know me very well but know I am a movie buff, “What is it about movies that you love so much? What is it that makes you want to sit at home watching Netflix for two or three movies in a day?” My normal answer was to spend an uncomfortable moment or two trying to wax philosophic about my love for movies without sounding like an idiot (note to self - it never worked). My friends and I still say quotes from classics movies like Friday, Heat, Juice, The Godfather, Scarface, and the list goes on. As a regular watcher of all types of movies I wanted to create a “Lights, Camera, Fashion” issue dedicated to classic films. I’ll never forget going to the movies with my mother growing up. The rating of the movie didn’t matter to my mother and I loved her for that. She would take to movies that my friends couldn’t see and I would be the center of attention. I remember being blown away by Ray Liota and Robert De’nerios performance in “Goodfellas”. I also remember the conversation she had with me driving around North Philly similar to the conversation
Because “Superman: The Movie” made me believe a man could fly. Because I am your father. Because of Eddie Murphy “Delirious” and “Raw” Because the loudest audience cheer I ever heard was after Rocky Balboa knocked Apollo Creed down in the first round in “Rocky.” Because of Samuel L. Jackson loudass quotes! “I’m tired of these $^&&% snakes on this %$%^& plane” “Yes they deserve to die and I hope they burn in hell” Because why am I Mr. Pink? Because of Halle Berry! I oppose the question to you “Why do you love movies?” Do you have the G.O.O.D.S.?

BEAUTY TIPS AND TRICKS
Easy, Breezy, Beautiful
By Nicole Bowen
As the temperatures begin to rise now is the perfect time to revamp your beauty routine. Finding the best products in a sea of moisturizers, SPFs, and other products can be a daunting task of trial and error. Never fear, we have come up with some of the best products to get you through the Summer with flawless beauty!
Stay Hydrated! Yes, drinking plenty of water will help keep your skin healthy but finding the perfect moisturizer is your best beauty weapon! A new fave is the Olay Fresh Effect “Dew Over” for 24 hour moisture and an instant cool on those hot San Diego days. This unique gel moisturizer is made with a powder to make your skin look less oily, yes please!
Minimize! If you want to even out your skin without caking on a heavy foundation look no further than your local drug store. With so many BB creams coming into the market finding your perfect formula is so easy! The lightweight formal of Olay Fresh Effects “BB Cream” is moisturizing and contains an SPF while evening out your skin for a flawless look. The best part of this particular product is it really does even a blotchy skin tone and cover blemishes!
Defend! Don’t forget to defend your skin against the harmful UV rays with a daily SPF! Neutrogena makes an Ultra Sheer SPF 100 that makes it the perfect product to protect your sensitive skin. The lightweight, dry touch formula dries quickly and keeps shine at bay all day long. Make sure to evenly cover your face, ears, and delicate eye lids daily for the best defense against sun damage.
Remember the Coconut! We have all heard by now the benefits of drinking electrolyte heavy coconut water but did you know that infusing your skin with the ultra hydrating liquid can restore moisture and balance skin tone? There are a number of products hitting drug store shelves containing this magical ingredient including Dial Coconut Water body wash. In addition to the hydrating coconut this body wash also features skin soothing bamboo extract.
Skip the Shampoo! Not every day, but try only washing your hair every other day to allow natural moisture to reach the overly dry ends. If skipping a wash leaves your roots greasy and limp try Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo to boost the roots while leaving your hair with a fresh, just washed scent. If you still can’t bear to having your hair down try a messy updo or casual ponytail.

Chiefin’ Celebrities!
Weed, Pot, Mary Jane, Bud, the list goes on and on for the names associated with Marijuana. One thing is for sure, it has definitely become less of an issue or “bad drug” to more of a lifestyle choice and culture. With that comes no surprise that some of our favorite celebs are also apart of this lifestyle. Some of them have even gotten involved with legalization for cannabis use. Now, celebrities like Snoop Dogg (Snoop Lion now), Rihanna, and Wiz Khalifa are people that we KNOW toke up however, in this article you will find out who else is also 420 friendly!
Kirsten Dunst “Americas view on weed is ridiculous, the world would be a better place if everyone smoked weed”
Morgan Freeman He once said in an interview that he gave up hard drugs but “will never end his relationship with weed”
Matthew McConaughey Admitted smoker. Apparent lover of bongs.
Whoopi Goldberg “My vape pen and I love a good story”
Lady Gaga Has been known to smoke when it comes to songwriting stating “ I smoke a lot of pot when I write music”
Johnny Depp “I’m not a great pothead or anything like that but weed is much less dangerous than alcohol”
Megan Foxx “I can’t tell you how much bullsh*t I’ve been through because I will openly say that I smoke weed. People look at it like it’s this crazy, hippie, f*cked-up thing to do. And it’s not! I hope they legalize it, and when they do, I’ll be the first f*cking person in line to buy my pack of joints.”
Susan Sarandon Not only did she admit to being high at most award shoes the acclaimed actress has also joined with standing for legalization of pot. Also, stating “I would like to see everybody be able to smoke pot.”
Jack Nicholson “If they were really serious about the economy there would be a sensible discussion about legalization”
Oliver Stone Oliver says smoking weed while in Vietnam kept him “between staying human or, as Michael Douglas said, becoming a beast”

Feature Spotlight:
Rising Starlet & International Model Leidy Mazo
By Solomon Osayande Jr.
International model and actress Leidy Mazo, has the GOODS, and this rising star embodies the artistic allure that inspires this publication. Leidy is a talent to be reckoned with after being featured on the big screen as well as a plethora of publications and brands across the globe. The talented and young Colombian export has brought her modeling prowess to The GOODS Magazine helping us bolster this month’s theme “Lights, Camera, Fashion”. For those unfamiliar with Leidy, the Colombian actress and model has been in the likes of Transformers 3 and has worked with brands such as Guess , Jack Daniels, and Lads, just to name a few. With a promising career to date and many more projects in the works, Leidy’s star will only continue to rise as the talented actress and model makes her push towards becoming a household name.
GM: So you are model and an actress, which do you prefer and why? LM: I am both but I prefer acting because you can be any character. I also love being on set and all the hard work that goes into making a movie, but modeling is fun too because you get to travel around the world to get the right shot. GM: What inspired you to get into acting and modeling? LM: I’ve loved modeling since I was a kid, dressing up and posing for the camera felt natural to me. When I met Michael Bay it inspired me to get into acting. LM: As a model I know sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone to get the perfect shot, what was the craziest photo shoot that you have been a part of? GM: So you are model and an actress, which do you prefer and why?
GOODS MAGAZINE: Hello Leidy, why don’t we start off by having you tell The GOODS Magazine a little bit about yourself, starting off with where you are from. I detect an accent.
LM: The craziest moment for me was being on a beach in California half naked with a snake wrapped around me as the waves hit us, but it made for some good pictures.
Leidy Mazo: I am from Colombia. Yes I love my accent and I never want to lose it!
GM: As an international model, what are some of the cooler products or clothing lines you have modeled? www.thegoodsmag.co
17
LM: I think the black tape project was probably the coolest thing I have done because they put tape all over my body and made it into art, but I love modeling Guess because they have great jeans and amazing make up artists. GM: I am sure for both acting and modeling there is a lot of traveling that you must do, what is your favorite city or country that you have visited for “work”?
LM: A lead role in a Mafia film or someone’s crazy girlfriend, something that can challenge me. GM: Supermodel or Academy Award winning actress? LM: That’s hard to say but I have to choose Academy Award winning actress. GM: If you could model any clothing line or product what would it be?
LM: Definitely Dubai, I love the culture and how everyone dresses.
LM: I would love to be a Victoria’s Secret Angel but I don’t think I’m tall enough.
GM: I know the answer to this question but can you tell The GOODS readers what country are you in right now? Life must be so rough ;)
GM: What is next for Leidy Mazo? Do you have any projects in the works you can tell us about?
LM: Right now I am in France for the Cannes Film Festival and next I will be in Monaco. GM: If you could work with any three actors or directors who would they be? LM: I love working with Michael Bay, he understands me. I would love to work with Sofia Vergara and Angelina Jolie. I look up to both of them. GM: Fun question, what is your idea of a good time? LM: Traveling with a group of friends around the world. GM: Favorite city you have visited for “play”? LM: Las Vegas. GM: I know that you are from Vegas, does that city ever get boring? LM: To me it will never be boring, I love it there. GM: What is the most exotic place you have had a photo shoot? LM: Dubai GM: The first thing I saw you in was Transformers 3, pretty damn awesome project by the way, was that your first movie role? LM: Yes, I was very blessed to be in it. GM: As an actress what would be your dream project?
LM: I am working on a few projects but nothing I can really talk about yet. Let’s just say my acting career isn’t done yet. GM: Before I let you go, is there anyone that you would like to give a shout out to or anything you would like us to look out for that’s happening in the busy life of Leidy? You may have answered this question already. LM: I want to shout out my mom, she is my biggest fan. Also my brothers Andres and Jay, Michael Bay for always being there and for telling me to keep acting, and everyone who believes in me. I love you all.

Interview w/ Sandra Logan
Start Living Now
By Vanessa Barnes
Everyday many people ponder about what’s going to happen next in their everyday lives. The GOODS got the chance to interview Houston, Texas based medium Sandra Logan and here is what she had to say to live life to its fullest. GOODS: How did you discover your gift of sight? Did you
GOODS: Can you make self-predictions?
have reoccurring incidents or visions as a child?
SL: No I cannot see things for myself. I think it is because I am a bit afraid of seeing my future as I have some people in my life with serious illnesses and don’t wish to see what is going to happen.
SL: Yes, I always saw people, but didn’t find it strange. My father always acknowledged my imaginary (or so a lot of people thought) friend Jody . I saw her and she was in my life for several of my young years between four and six. But I find referring to it as a Gift not entirely accurate. I think we all have the ability, but it is like a muscle you have to zero in on it and develop it.
GOODS: Have you heard of any relatives that had the same visionary abilities?
SL: Yes My father and mother had it, and that is who allowed me to believe in my self and continue to go forward. When I started school, I quit doing it, it no longer was fun, when children made fun of me. My son and daughter both have the ability, my son uses his more than my daughter. My youngest son doesn’t believe in it so much. GOODS: How do the insights of our life paths affect us with regret only? SL: As far as our Life Path I think we decide that before we come here, according to what we ant to learn here, or what we want to experience on this plain..I don’t think that we can change it , it is sort of an agreement we make before we get here. It is like takeing a plane ride, and deciding to stop somewhere before our destination to see something new. We are allowed to get off of the path, but believe me life will knock you back on it if you sight see too long. As far as regrets when we throw away this garbage bag we carry around (our body) that carrys our soul, we don’t have regrets. Regrets are our humanness. It is what our brain tells, but when we leave here we don’t take that with us. We become love and light, and join the light ( some call it God ) whomever We join that light, and don’t take hate and regrets, so that is a short lived luxury. GOODS: Can our life paths change or only the choices we make create the change of our own paths? SL: No I don’t think we can change our life path, and when we try to control it,, we cause ourselves havoc, then we wonder why nothing goes right. I always say our passion is our Destiny, I like Paul Harvey, (well known It author of a book by that name) that we don’t change our destiny or life path. It is set in stone. One way or the other we will follow it before we leave here. GOODS: What’s the most frequent question or curiosity people have about their life paths? SL: People are always asking if they are following their life path. I always tell them they will know if they aren’t, it kind of like walking in a Hurricane, the wind
will eventually blow you in one direction or the other. I think you have to believe that you are that great extension of perfection , The Light, or God. What can you possibly not do? Ypu are perfection, lf you take your block type today and you took it when you were born, it is exactly the same. You are what you came in this world to be, the only thing that interferes is that thing you call a brain. and unfortunately we start to believe what we are told, and we store that information in our brain, and start to believe what we are told, about what we can’t do, what we believe is what we are. WE listen to other people’s opinions of us, and those people will leave and we keep their opinions like a bad pair of shoes wearing them, even though they don’t really fit. GOODS: Any advice to live fully without regrets? SL: Live in the Now. We are not guaranteed tomorrow or even the next hour. We spend so much of our time worrying about tomorrow like it is an entitlement, but it isn’t. It is a gift, and some of us will receive it and some of us won’t. Again, as far as regretting anything, it is a horrible mistake. You make choices the best you can with the information you have at the time. There is no book on Life yet that guarantees no mistakes. I tell people to stay open to change. Don’t have tunnel vision about life They say God laughs most when we tell him “Our Plans. When something changes go with it, it is probably taking you in the direction that you are supposed to go, to usually meet the people you need to meet to go forward in the direction you are supposed to go in. Never give up on tomorrow, today is just a moment and it passes and with luck we continue to have more moments. You will laugh in life, you will cry. But you can’t have light without dark, or you wouldn’t appreciate the light when it comes. For a personal reading or podcast insight, you can find Sandra online at http://SandraLogan.org, and on twitter @SandraLogan1. www.thegoodsmag.co

These women practice week in and week out so they can show the world what teamwork can accomplish.
Derby Girls Do it Better By Alvin Miller Abraham
Embedded deep within the heart of San Diego is a track where the toughest women on the West Coast lace up their skates. These women practice week in and week out so they can show the world what teamwork can accomplish. In the past people may have thought of roller derby as being somewhat like professional wrestling on wheels; it isn’t. Roller Derby and wrestling have a similar cult-like following; competitors on each team strive to push each other and their opponents to the limit.
The Derby isn’t about skating around in circles, like many sports there’s a coach and team of staff pointing out areas of opportunity.
Once again southern California has the perfect family night event; affordable and fun. Several times a month there are competitions between San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles and other Derby leagues. Each league has several teams, representing home and away crews, as well as the juvenile team composed of 7-18 year olds. While size may matter this is a competition where individuals have to rely heavily on skill, speed and as The Beatles would say a little help from my friends. Don’t let skater names like Chica Destruccion, Assaulty Cracker, Zombie Dearst, or Hit-n-Run discourage you from attending an event. Once you get pass your initial fears of being cold-cocked you realize that you’re in the presences of good people and hard workers. The walls
are covered with mottos and mantras dedicated to positive mental attitude, team spirit and success. The Derby isn’t about skating around in circles, like many sports there’s a coach and team of staff pointing out areas of opportunity. No matter how good a defense is there is always room for improvement. When you have ladies that are moving full speed and ready to go hard in the paint anything is possible. Derby Dolls are embodiments of (young) ladies in the streets and superwomen on the tracks. These ladies have come to skate to one song and one song only… For more information please visit their site: http://sd.derbydolls.com/ www.thegoodsmag.co

From London with Love! Plus Size Fashion Designer Remi Ray By Brandee “Kurvy” J
All the way from London, plus size designer Remi Ray, is making major moves in the fashion world. Her new collection has been getting rave reviews, not only from key players in the industry, but also from celebrities. I came across her new line and was immediately in love with it. Her sleek approach to fashion not only makes her garments eye popping but they also enhance the curves of a woman’s body. When I had the opportunity to talk with her I was very excited. To the right is my exclusive one on one with Remi Ray.
When did you know you wanted to be a plus size designer? I’ve wanted to design a collection from the age of 14; however, I didn’t discover plus-size until 2009 so since then really. Describe your Kurvy GOODS Fashion Style? Classic and chic with a little bit of shine. I like to mix it up sometimes but will always have something classic just to keep it classy. I love my black dresses that show cases my curves and keep me tight and polite. lol How long have you been into fashion and who is your favorite fashion designer of all time? I started to rip friends and family’s jeans at the age of 13 and customize denim, I also studied at London College of fashion for 1 year at the age of 19, but fashion has always been a place of solace for me since I can remember. My Mom was and is still a key player in my style and I watched her pair leggings, old school white frilly shirts, leather waistcoat, suede high boots, and shave and dye half her head just like Salt and Pepper. I think I’ve always had the eye it was just applying it. Describe your NEW A/W line? What was your inspiration for the collection? I created the #FromLondonWithLove collection from the long journey it took me to create the collection. The collection is created with minimal confusion and is for the functioning plus-
size woman of today. The collection is very wearable and there is a style for all plus-size figures. My brand is based on my knowledge as a plus-size person, but also with the understanding of the key things that affect a plus-size shopper i.e fit, fabric and durability. It is a capsule collection, which I hope soon will expand. It has been worn by the beautiful likes of Hayley Hasseloff at various events around the world. Are you interested in designing other items for the Kurvy/ Plus Size Fashionista such as swimsuits? I’m currently in the creative process of designing a plus-size boot made from real leather that is designed to be worn over the knee. I know this is a major concern for plus-size women so I really hope everybody loves it once it’s ready, fingers crossed AW14. Which celebrities have worn some of your designs? Every one of my customers are just as amazing as the celebrities so all of them; however, I have had Hayely Hasseloff wear quite a few pieces from my collection in particular at Paris Fashion Weekend in London for the British Plussize Fashion Weekend 2014!

Do you feel that the fashion industry overall is finally paying attention to the plus size consumer? Slowly but surely I can see the shift taking place. I have been in the plus-size industry for the last 4 years and the leaps and bounds it has made is nothing short of amazing. What is next for Remi? Well I hope to create a full collection for next year that can be picked and worn by even more fabulous plus-size women but ultimately I want to continue with my platforms such as the British plus-size fashion weekend and continue to open doors for plus-size women, men, and the industry worldwide. Where can we purchase your line at? Will it be in any major department stores? Currently online at www.remiray.com and littleblackdress.co.uk. I’m hoping to get over to the US soon to promote my collection so stay tuned! Remi Ray will be making her mark soon in the US! A number of key players in the plus size industry have been waiting for the London Fashion invasion. For my top picks from her

Masters of Mayhem By Alvin Miller Abraham
Before the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) became a nearly unstoppable global juggernaut there was a network of worldwide wrestling promotions. During a more relevant period of time the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) held the market in professional wrestling. The territories were carved into regions that were controlled by promoters like Jerry Jarrett, Fritz Von Eric, Jerry Lawler, Vern Gagne, Stu Hart, The Briscoes and The Funks; just to name a few of wrestling’s royalty. In April 2014 SoCal Pro Wrestling held its 7 year anniversary show in Oceanside, CA. SoCal is a local wrestling promotion that keeps many traditions alive; the good guys love you and the bad guys really hate you. The men and women featured are the future of business. Fans travel for hours to attend monthly affordable, family friendly shows. The road to becoming a professional wrestler isn’t short or sweet. Long before a wrestler comes through the curtain at major wrestling promotions chances are they’ve spent years on the road working their craft. Forget the days of you and your little sister delivering spectacular finishing move on each other; we’re talking about professionally trained and mentally hardened athletes. SoCal pro focuses heavily on the athletic ability of their wrestlers. While there are some colorful characters you won’t have as much exposure to the gimmicks that have elevated other wrestling promotions. You as a fan will not fined disappointment if you come to see a good show. When you think about the greats like Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Sting, Ultimate Warrior, the Steiners, or Steve Austin you are looking at wrestlers that trained hard before breaking into the business. Not all wrestlers debut at Madison Square Garden or the Norfolk Scope. There are many years of being tossed around in smaller venues, paying dues and earning a spot within the sport of professional wrestlering. If you can give all that you have to the training for the business SoCal Pro has a wrestling school specializing in several wrestling styles. There was a time when people said the WWE’s business tactics would destroy the territory system but yet here we are decades after the WWE has flattened competitors and local promotions are still going strong. For more information on SoCal Pro Wrestling visit their webpage: http://www.socalprowrestling.com/ www.thegoodsmag.co

Rocky Forguson What made you want to be a photographer? As a kid in the 70’s I use to take photos with my instamatic camera. A family friend said to me that I should get into photography. So I started taking photography classes in high school developing and printing my own black and white film in the class photo lab. After high school I took more classes in college in Black & White, color, advertising photography, and video and film making. In 1979 when I was watching TV on the news as they covered a two day event that was happening at Vacation village now known as The Paradise Point resort about a Photo Day event, called Mission Bay Photo Festival with models and cars that was a two day event. So the next day I went to the event for my first time photographing models. In 1980 when I brought my house I have my wheelchair ramps installed. The construction worker was also a part time professional photographer and told me about a magazine called “Western Photographer”. They had a calendar of events and reports on the Photo Days (Model Shoots) in Southern California. In San Diego MDA had a fundraiser from the Photo Day events at Seaport Village and hotels that I also volunteer that the events and attended others all over Southern California. In 1984 I and three other amateur photographers started an organization called Glamour Photographers International for glamour photographers and to sponsors events. We started model shoot events in Southern California from San Diego to Los Angeles and still in business today.
