What to study SCU offers degrees in three schools and a wide varity of majors. You will select your major at the end of your freshman year. As part of the application process, you will have to select one of the three schools to attend in the fall. Where you’ll live Approximately 94% of freshman live in one of SCU’s 12 residential learning communities (RLCs), and half the students live on campus all four years. The RLC system at Santa Clara is more then just dorm rooms. Your RLC will help you connect with your peers and other students on campus, with faculty in and outside of class, with the University Core Curriculum as a coherent whole, with student programs and organizations, and with the University community at large.
What you’ll do for fun Activities: There are over 100 student organizations, including 34 athletic groups, 28 academic societies, 22 ethics or international student organizations, 15 activism groups, 6 religious organizations. Athletics: SCU’s athletic teams are Division I and are members of the West Coast Conference. SCU student-athletes have won NCAA titles in Women’s Soccer in 2001 and Men’s Soccer in 1989. In 2008-09, the Broncos individual success included 97 named to the WCC Honor Roll, 46 All-WCC Selections, 3 All-Americans, a WCC Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, and the school’s first-ever female Rhodes Scholar. Santa Clara/ Bay Area: The Bay Area is home to six universities, diverse with athletic, cultural and entertainment opportunities within minutes of the University.
Undergraduate research opportunities Undergraduates have the chance to work on research - whether you join established projects or pursue your own ideas. You will have the chance to participate in each phase of the process: developing research plans, writing proposals, conducting the research, analyzing data, and presenting the finding.

There are a number of options for study abroad; SCU’s offers programs in 200 locations in 50 countries. 60% of SCU students study abroad their junior year.

SCU offers many opportunities for internships and research work overseas. Professional internships in companies, nonprofits, reseach laboratories, and universities, are available for all majors on campus. Financial Aid is 100% tranferable for most programs that SCU offers.

Preparing for SCU Recommended academic coursework: four years of English; three or more years of mathematics; two or more years of lab science, foreign language, history /social science; one or more years of visual or performing arts, and college-prep electives. Interview: SCU does not conduct interviews as part of the admission process. We encourage prospective students to talk to current students as well as recent alumni in order to get a complete picture of what SCU is like.

Required tests: SAT Critical Reading and Math or the ACT, all test.

If your native language is not English, you have two options, (1) take the required test for native English speakers (see required test above) or (2) take the TOEFL exam.
Last month to take standardized tests for Regular Decision; if you take the test in January you must list SCU as a school to receive your scores or we will not receive them in time for our review.
