LETTER FROM THE EDITOR OMG! Readers, This Halloween Issue’s Fantasy theme coincides with Fantasy Fest 2010: Habitat for Insanity, one of the Florida Keys’ signature annual events. Since its inception, Fantasy Fest has attracted the masses solemnly seeking to live out their wildest dreams with the extremities of entertainment surrounding the event. Fantasies come to life through the creativity of the attendees’ costumes and the overall energy of the party extravaganza. A friend of mine once said that attending Fantasy Fest one year enabled her fantasy of taking chances; losing all inhibitions and enjoying life to its maximum level come to fruition. What is your fantasy? A personal fantasy of mine has always been to oversee a magazine. At the beginning of this year, I was offered the opportunity of a lifetime to become the Executive Editor of OMG! Magazine. Not even a year old, OMG! initially caught my attention with the amount of actual content and editorial that comprised an issue. I very happily accepted the position and joined the OMG! family. This past summer, I found it odd that so many of my friends and associates had zero knowledge on how serious the BP oil spill was and still is to our environment.
I made it not only a professional goal as Editor, but also a personal goal to theme each issue with a message. Sure, a half-naked guy can be placed on any magazine cover to garner attention. But what happens after your grab a person’s attention? Why not help educate them on the world’s largest marine and wildlife disaster? Or share personal stories that readers around the world could relate to? Inspirational stories on overcoming discrimination against being gay, being bi-racial or being overweight; especially given the current and very unfortunate gay teen suicides trend. What could have easily been dismissed as just another bar rag had in reality become a publication that informed a primarily LGBT audience on current events, social topics, politics, pop culture and entertainment. Given the reader response to stories in previous issues, I would like to believe that I accomplished my mission. While I will still regularly be contributing to OMG! Magazine, my time as Editor with this magazine has come to an end and it is now time to pass the torch and allow another individual’s fantasy to come to life. It has been a rewarding and memorable nine months. My Best,
Okie Okesene Tilo,
Executive Editor

acebook guru Scott Abel is one of the emerging gay digerati -- technologically-savvy homosexuals who use their social standing on popular online networks to educate, entertain, and effect change. On his Facebook wall Scott publishes a unique combination of content designed to appeal to his nearly 5,000 friends, many of which are not gay. He estimates his Facebook friend list is comprised of 1% close friends and family, 39% professional and business contacts with the remaining 60% being gay men and lesbian women he met online.
As a self-proclaimed social networking choreographer, Abel has crafted a successful career helping global technology companies use social networks like Facebook (and socially-enabled services like LinkedIn and Twitter) to market their products and services. But he’s done so by using his homosexuality to differentiate himself from the crowd.
Music videos, song lyrics, word challenge puzzles, personal updates and campy lines from classic movies are scattered in between announcements from equality rights groups, statistics about HIV/AIDS, invitations to fundraisers, transcripts from court cases, photos of he and his friends, news about politics, religion and business and lots of opinion.
“And, because I do it in such a matter-of-fact way in my Facebook world, many people who would not normally be educated on gay and lesbian issues are learning just how similar we all are.”
On Scott’s Facebook wall you’re just as likely to encounter a video explaining how augmented reality works as you are to stumble upon a resource list for parents of LGBT teenagers who may be being bullied at school.

“Instead of pretending my sexuality doesn’t define who I am, I take an opposite stand. My sexuality, and my life experiences as a gay American man have shaped not only who I am, but how I think about things. I don’t hide my sexuality. I talk openly about it, just like heterosexuals do,” says Abel.
Abel has learned a lot of lessons from his Facebook misadventures, he’s documenting them in his new book titled Facebook Stories: How People Use The World’s Largest Social Network (out this December from Rockley Press). His book will showcase how 25 of Scott’s Facebook friends use the social network for personal, non-profit and business purposes.

hey say you’ll never work a day in your life if you love what you do. If that’s the case, then Tracy Young hasn’t worked in 20 years. What the electronic music dynamo has done over the last two decades is taken her irresistible passion for dance music from the underground to the mainstream, going from clubland cause célèbre to mainstream celebrity in the process. It’s been a long, winding road to the top for the spunky Young, who launched her career in 1991 as hip-hop radio DJ. “I love all kinds of music,” the Washington, D.C.-born spinstress states. “Growing up in a divorced household, I always took comfort in it.”
At the time, Young had no idea of the heights to which she would rise. “If you told me 10 years later I’d be DJ-ing Madonna’s wedding, I’d say you were crazy!” she laughs. But even from its earliest stages, Young’s musical prowess made people take notice, and it wasn’t long before she translated her work at Interscope Records to a thriving career in the DJ booth that allowed her to bring her one-of-a-kind funk, hip-hop and oldschool blend of beats to the masses on eastern corridor airwaves and cable television. But soon the sun-drenched shores of Miami came calling, and with her move came a shift in sound that saw Young injecting her hip-hop roots with the house music thump that emanated from the steamy, celebrity-filled nightclubs that comprised the South Beach scene. Miami was where Young carved a niche for herself, both as a female in the traditionally male-dominated stomping grounds of the DJ booth, and as a darling of the thriving gay circuit party scene. But it wasn’t just the gay community that was drawn by Young’s magnetic musical pull; celebrities from Cher to Sean Combs fell under her spell, inviting the disc jockess to spin their exclusive private parties to exclusive A-List invitees. Once Madonna coroneted her as her go-to DJ in 2000, Young became a global electronic music celebrity in demand at nightclubs around the world and a breakout name on the Billboard charts racking up over 40 #1 Club Play hits with remixes for Christina Aguilera, Shakira and Enrique Iglesias.
OMG 22
13 of the #1’s were Madonna tracks including “Music” and “Hung Up.” Living Theater, Young’s 2003 release of unique remixes, garnered critical acclaim while showing that Young’s talent in the studio went beyond last-call of nightclub dance floors. “I like doing different types of events and music,” Young says. “Fashion, television, radio—and, of course, clubs. I never limit myself to just one type of party; I like doing different types of events. It keeps my career fresh.” Through it all, Young has always been humble, focusing on her career and the ever-growing roster of releases on her Ferosh record label rather than her own burgeoning celebrity. So when the mainstream media took notice of Young’s working relationship with Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak and insinuated it wasn’t limited to the confines of the recording studio, Young found herself in an unexpected spotlight, bandied about in gossip magazines and even during the morning coffee klatch of The View. “Music has always been the foundation of my work,” she say with a shrug to the drama. “I’m really proud of the work I did on Kim’s single ‘Tardy for the Party,’ and I wish her well in the future.” The housewife’s life isn’t for Young—it never has been. With a book in the works about her 20 year-career in the DJ booth, a Mad Men-style makeover by famed Hollywood photographer to the stars Mike Ruiz and longstanding working relationships with Macy Gray, Maya and the Kardashians, Young is now a celebrity in her own right. “I will always be a music person,” she states. “But there are so many mediums for me to express myself and I want to take advantage of them all.” Tardy for the party? Not Tracy Young. She’s been the party for the past 20 years—and she’s just getting started.

Madonna ignited shock pop as we know it today when she performed “Like a Virgin” at the 1985 Video Music Awards wearing a combination bustier/wedding gown, and her trademark "Boy Toy" belt. And who can forget 2003 when portraying a groom, she open-mouth kissed her brides, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera? These days, it’s not only Madonna who is using shock to grab attention for her music. Christina raised eyebrows with “Dirrty,” followed by Katy Perry who “kissed a girl and liked it.” Today’s leading players of pop – Ke$ha, Adam Lambert and of course, Gaga - are gaining notoriety by being untamed and unashamed. Now a new crop of young artists are upping the shock ante, doing things never-beforeseen in pop music. Is today’s celeb culture teaching fans that it’s weak to be meek?
Sometimes being too shocking can derail an artist’s career. When Josie Cotton released “Johnny Are You Queer?” in ‘81, she lost her record deal. Do you fear it may be too soon for a guy-on-guy kiss? I was nervous in the beginning but the response has been way positive. I’m working with some major people in the music industry because of the attention from the video.
KILLIAN WELLS – Blonde Bi Bombshell Do you see yourself as a shock pop artist? It’s not intentional. I’m simply unwilling to censor myself. Art stops being art when you neuter your creativity. The boy-on-boy kiss in the video has shock value. It’s about time a mainstream artist had the balls to do a boy-on-boy kiss. Has the kiss brought the attention to the video you hoped it would? I find more people are shocked by the drunken vomiting in the video. Artists like George Michael and Ricky Martin hid their sexuality while they were on the top of the charts. Is sexuality more accepted today? There’s still a long way to go but society is definitely more open-minded now. Lady Gaga and Adam Lambert have huge followings. It goes to show that a so-called ‘alternative’ sexual orientation isn’t a deal breaker anymore. Who is your shock-pop idol? Prince because he did it all without fear. OMG 28
Are you being a good role model for today’s young listeners? I hope I can be a role model for young fans who are afraid to be themselves. However, I wouldn’t encourage young listeners to go get drunk we do in the video. What do you say to parents who might feel your free-for-all-sexuality is sending the wrong message to their kids? My bisexuality isn’t promoting promiscuity. I’m actually a monogamous, relationship-oriented person, which is a rarity regardless of sexual orientation. It’s irresponsible for parents to make their kids feel they have to fit a mold to conform to society’s standards. What does your own mom say? My parent’s views used to be very old school but I’ve enlightened them. Is today’s celeb culture teaching fans it’s weak to be meek? It’s not new for celebrities to do things that are seen as taboo. Pop stars can’t be blamed for someone else’s actions; that would be like saying porn stars are responsible for people having sex. Will you continue to push the envelope in your next songs and music videos? Definitely, I’m not holding back.
Are you being a good role model for today’s young listeners? Our world is so polarized. Black, white, boy, girl, gay, straight. People look at Courtney and have to reassess what they believe to be true. I am proving that you don't have to fit into the mould that society has defined. That’s a good thing. What do you say to parents who might not agree with you? Parents should not impose their judgments and conditioning on children. Fill them with joy and let them lead the way.
COURTNEY ACT – Wonder from Down Under Do you see yourself as a shock pop artist? I don’t but I can see how someone from a different walk of life might think I am. Gender bending has a certain shock value. There is something captivating about drag.
Is today’s celeb culture teaching fans it’s weak to be meek? No, artists are making fans question their beliefs and values and getting them to re-think what is normal. Will you continue to push the envelope in your next songs and music videos? I will continue to be me and if that is pushing someone's envelope, then I guess I have done my job.
Are people still surprised to learn you’re a man? Surprised, confused and baffled. I love when a guy is flirting and slowly he starts to see what he is looking at. The wig lace, the eyebrow plastic, the stubble…? Yes! There is that moment when he’ll look around to see who is watching and then he’ll shrug his shoulders and come home with me. Do you always get the man? Always. Would you have been selected for Australian Idol if you were a real woman? I believe so. Drag aside, I was still delivering a great package. Look, sass, voice, and makeup. Why did you decide to compete as an out artist? I could never deny who I am in order to get ahead in my career. We all dress up and create our selves. As RuPaul says, "You're born naked and the rest is drag.” Did RuPaul pave the way for other drag artists? There were many before Ru. Danny LaRue, Lilly Savage, Amanda Lear, Pete Burns, Boy George, Priscilla Queen Of The Desert. I suppose once you have a Swarovski like RuPaul, everyone else seems like cut glass. Who is your shock-pop idol? Cher. Anyone who wears Bob Mackie actually. Is America ready for another drag superstar? In Australia, I’m the face of Sheer Cover Mineral Makeup. I'm no Joan of Arc, but it is pretty revolutionary to have a female illusionist selling the illusion of beauty to Aussie females. I hope to have the same success in America.
CARSTEN ANDERSSON – PopPorn Do you see yourself as a shock pop artist? I probably am. Pretending to be the clean, innocent boy-next-door wouldn’t work for me. I can’t compete with Justin Bieber. Why did you decide to come clean about your porn past? You can’t hide something like porn. It would come eventually. Better to tackle it head-on. Has it helped bring attention to your singing career? Without my porn past, I’d be just another boy with a song out. Porn has made people take notice. They want to see what this boy can do other than get naked. Artists like George Michael and Ricky Martin hid their sexuality while they were on the top of the charts. Is homo and bisexuality more accepted today? I think there is always going to be some issue with being gay. Not with being gay but with being open with it. OMG 29
Who is your shock-pop idol? Not Lady Gaga. Most things I see from her seem copied from artists of the past.
Sariah – Scene Queen
Katy Perry? I don’t like her. I find her boring.
Do you consider yourself a shock pop artist? Yes, every outfit and every look I present is diva. That’s why I’m the Queen of Hearts.
What about Madonna? Madonna in her early years: definitely. Madonna today: not really shocking anymore. I like the trashy Europop stars from the 80’s that really knew how to shock. Amanda Lear was a transsexual who fooled the world for years that she was a woman.
A song titled “all about sex” certainly has shock value. People expect the song is raunchy and full of explicit language, but it is actually about a complicated relationship I was in where I yearned for it to be more than just all about sex.
Is America ready for a pop-porn star? Paris Hilton built a career out of porn. Other celebrities have followed, pushing their “accidentally lost private porns” on the internet.
Who is your shock-pop idol? Gaga. I love that she truly expresses herself to the fullest at all times and stays thankful for her continual success.
What do you hope to prove with your song? Honestly? Nothing. The song is called “Fun” and that’s all it is. I did it for fun; no deeper reason. Basically, I had done movies, photos… we thought what comes next? Ok, let’s make a song.
Can you think of someone whose career was derailed by shock? Janet Jackson’s Superbowl performance with Justin Timberlake. We were not ready to see her nipple. I know I have never looked at her the same since that performance.
Have you retired from films? No. I’m open to doing more. Maybe the big shocking movie is still yet to come. Do you do porn for the money or for fun? It’s not the money. I can think of a thousand better ways to earn cash. Porn is the only job I feel comfortable with. I know my way around the bed, or on the couch, or in the barn (laughs). Do you consider yourself a good role model for today’s young listeners? Hell no. What would happen to the world if young boys took me as a role model? Scary thought. Will you continue to push the envelope with more songs? I never make plans beyond the next 24 hours. I have a real messed-up mind. One day I want this, the other I want that, and finally I end up in Japan shooting a manga porn.
What made you willing to take the gamble in your career? I wouldn’t have it any other way. Is “All About Sex” suitable for today’s young listeners? Teens are growing up faster than ever before. We are all struggling to define our relationships. Songs like “All About Sex” make you think. Are you being a good role model for today’s young listeners? My records are based on truth, love, honesty, strength and they come from my heart so yes, I do think I’m being a great role model. What do you say to parents who might not agree? Kids need freedom to make their own choices. What do your own parents say? My parents are extremely supportive. “All About Sex” is actually one of their favorite records! Will you continue to push the envelope in your songs and music videos? My songs are my true stories of love and as long as my real experiences remain passionate, so will my music. he adult entertainment industry hasn’t changed much in its long history. For years, films were made by-men-for-men, with little consideration for the needs of women. Finally, that is about to change. Jincey Lumpkin, Esq. and her brand, Juicy Pink Box, are introducing a new form of adult entertainment: high quality, stylish and immensely sensual product by-ladies-for-ladies who love ladies. Juicy Pink Box is glamorizing lesbian sex by presenting erotic encounters in an uptown chic way. It may just change the way the world views lesbians. “Our films are seductive and beautifully crafted cinema,” says Jincey, a two time Georgia debutante who landed a job in New York City as a

fashion attorney but gained fame writing an anonymous sex blog. The blog lead to Jincey ditching law and launching Digiromp.com, the popular social networking site where women share their erotic lesbian experiences. It was through Digiromp.com that Jincey learned she wasn’t the only lesbian who found the girl-ongirl porn being sold in stores unappealing. “The only films available at the time were the rough dyke porn coming out of San Francisco and the vulgar gay-for-pay porn made to fulfill the fantasies of straight men,” explains Jincey. “The women of Digiromp.com hungered for ambience and atmosphere. We craved to see ladies in gorgeous wardrobes and styling that highlighted their shapes and curves. We wanted to experience the power of a true connection, and enjoy multi-sensory stimulation that slowly guided us to climax.” She also realized the internet offered a new convenience for women.
“There is nothing less sexy to a woman than walking into a seedy sex shop with creepy guys ogling at you while you buy porn,” she says. “It’s easier to log on and watch in the privacy and comfort of your home.” As the Boss Lady and Chief Sexy Officer of Juicy Pink Box, Jincey Lumpkin, Esq. oversees all facets of her films’ production and makes sure that the women stars in them are always in control and empowered. Juicy Pink Box released its first feature film, Taxi, earlier this year. It was the first to take stars from the dyke porn genre and style them into something more classically beautiful. Jincey describes the film as “like Bertolucci… except with fisting.” The next feature, releasing this summer, will be “Therapy”, a series of ten self-pleasure scenes that take place in a therapist’s office. It’s a fascinating journey inside the women’s minds as each visit to talk about her individual connection to sex. Viewers learn what excites the women, scares them, and what makes them wet.
According to Jincey, today’s women are more liberated about discussing their sexual practices. As evidenced in the popularization of hit TV series like Sex and the City and The L Word, “Women love being sexy and they are embracing all things related to sex.” That is why Juicy Pink Box is more than its adult film offerings. “Juicy Pink Box is a lifestyle,” Jincey continues. “It’s about living the fantasy of an exclusive world that features glamorous ladies who love ladies.” It’s being compared to Hugh Hefner’s Playboy. As Hef in his smoking jacket once represented the quintessential bachelor, Jincey in her cocktail dress and Gucci heels represents the modern day femme on top of the world. “The glamorous world of Juicy Pink Box is not for everyone,” Jincey cautions. “We are for women who crave intense sensuality, soft caresses, and gentle seduction. If you are a woman who finds women super sexy and you fantasize about their curves or their lips on your lips, then we’re here and we welcome you to explore a new frontier.” OMG 33

n the southern most part of the state, you will find the 30th Annual “Fantasy Fest 2010 – Habitat for Insanity” gearing up in Key West. Fantasy Fest is the result of a remarkable collaboration of the island’s citizens and merchants in the Florida Keys. The whole event is made possible through a large community of generous sponsors. Fantasy Fest is a 10-day event party. It starts on October 22 and culminates with the main events held on October 31. The main event of the festival is the 70,000 plus partygoers out in full regalia for the Captain Morgan Fantasy Fest Parade on Saturday, October 30 at 7pm. This mixed event offers something for EVERYBODY, but I would encourage you to check out the parties geared specifically for us on Friday, October 29 such as the Fetish & Fantasy Party @ the Island House (Men’s Party) and the Habitat for Insanity Party @ Pearl’s Rainbow (Woman’s Party). Another colorful event to catch during Fantasy Fest is Wednesday’s Drag Queen Bull-Riding Contest at Cowboy Bills. Some of Key West’s more notorious talent will vie for the title of “Queen to stay on the Bull the longest.” Throw a strong cocktail or two into this party, no doubt a good time will be had by all. f you live in the Tampa market, there are several options available for Halloween. October 31 plays host to what has been touted as the “best Tampa Halloween party you've never heard of,” otherwise known as the 34th Annual All Hallows Ball at the Tampa Convention Center. All Hallows is by invitation-only. Costumes aren't just encouraged; they're mandatory. All Hallows, the brain-child of a group of 16 men, who prefer to remain anonymous, started as a small intimate house party 34 years ago. The “hosts” organize this party each year for friends and family, and keep the party details and theme under tight wraps until revealed in the invitations mailed out in early September. This year’s theme is “Fantasia,” so the sky’s the limit on your creativity in costume. If you don't have an invite by now, better luck next year.

"All Hallows is the A-list of Halloween parties in Florida,'' said Mark Bias, one of the founders of the GaYbor District Coalition, which unofficially governs gay-owned and gay-friendly businesses in the historic Ybor City district of Tampa. "People are more into it than Guavaween. It's a wild night. Very, very creative,'' he said. "It's like a huge gay pride celebration at Halloween.” If you didn’t make the “All Hallows” cut, might I suggest you look at “Howl-O-Scream” Busch Gardens also in Tampa. Celebrating its 10th year of haunted houses and freak shows, Howl-O Scream brings 7 fright houses, 5 scare zones and 3 Halloween themed shows to freak you out this year. In conjunction with the 10th anniversary, Busch Gardens threw a new house called “Alone House” into the mix. As the name implies, the challenge is to escape this labyrinth alive and on your own. For the weak of heart, you can take up to 4 people in with you; this house carries a separate admission price of $24.95 in advance or $34.95 at the Park, IF reservation times are available. I went to the soft opening of Howl-O-Scream on Friday last month and can assure you “ALONE” was sold out. The overall event this year seemed a little less scary than in previous years, and as the night wore on, the “scareentertainers” just came across as being tired and “over it.” General Admission to Howl-O-Scream is $74.95. Several pricing options are available, and more info check out: tampa.howlo-scream.com/#/buy-tickets/florida-residents/

n the Orlando market, you can get your freak on at Universal Studios 20th Anniversary of Halloween Horror Nights. This Halloween event is certainly not for the faint of heart (we get to that venue later in this article). At Universal Studios, the nation’s premier annual Halloween destination, they promise to take “terror” to a whole new level by declaring that “the only thing you have to most fear is Fear!” Not to be outdone by Busch Gardens, US offers 8 haunted houses, 6 scare zones, and 2 live shows nightly. This year, Universal challenges you to face the fears that have been building up for over 20 years. Now unleashed to wreak havoc park-wide, at Halloween Horror Nights, you will face 5 of Fear’s most diabolical tests. Each test is very specific. Test one is carved out of chaos, Test two is drawn from death, Test three is born out of sacrifice, Test four is inspired by legend and Test five is conjured up by delusions of vengeance. You will definitely get your money’s worth at Halloween Horror Nights – Universal Studios. Ticket prices range from $39.99 to $240, depending on your needs and travel arrangements. inally in Florida, if you’re looking for something a bit tamer for you and your little ones, might I suggest Walt Disney’s Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This Halloweenthemed special event party in held on select dates in the Magic Kingdom theme park and the purchase of an additional admission ticket is required to attend.
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party encourages guests of all ages to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes and “trick or treat” around Magic Kingdom theme park to collect delicious Disney Halloween candy.

Many of your favorite Disney attractions will be open just for this party, and special entertainment such as the Mickey's "Boo-to-You" Halloween Parade—including Disney Characters and the stars of the Haunted Mansion runs nightly during this event. Last but not least, no Disney night-time visit would be complete without a fireworks show. For this event, Disney has put together a special “Disney Villains” fireworks show to captivate and entertain. The upside of this Disney Halloween event is that since it is promoted as a “Not-So-Scary” party, it is appropriate for children of all ages. ooking for an affordable scare in the Greater Atlanta area, I recommend Nightmare’s Gate Haunted House in Douglasville, just a few minutes outside of Atlanta. General Admission tickets are a mere $20 and all City/County/State/Federal Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, and Military personnel with a valid ID are free of charge ( just show your ID at the box office). The concept behind Nightmare’s Gate is that you have been sentenced to an eternity at the Brasky State Prison. Your sentencing begins as the Gate Guards escort you through Dead Man’s Alley where prisoners are shot dead trying to escape. These dead victims’ bodies have been left to rot where they were shot down as a warning to others. Passing the alley, you will be processed and indoctrinated by Evil Emily and Warden Brasky himself. The Warden's face is the last you will see in this world as you are administered CBC4179, a powerful sedative to make you more “manageable.” Simple incarceration isn't a part of the plan at Brasky State Prison. The Warden and his staff of Henchmen prefer to send you beyond Nightmare's Gate where you will walk among those things polite people don't talk about in public. Any screaming you hear may be your own. And not to worry... I have it on good authority that whatever nightmare's you can not imagine, Brasky’s staff will be happy to provide. There is no where safe to hide behind the walls of Brasky State Prison. If you dare try Brasky’s place out you can find more info at www.nightmaresgate.com/index.html

he final stop on our Halloween party broomstick takes us to New York City. Greenwich Village is the home to the 38th Annual Village Halloween Parade. This is the “A-list event” in NYC that is a mix of everyone and everything. In keeping with the tradition of Ellis Island, the NYC Village Halloween Parade is a melting pot of activity. Sodom and Gomorrah meets goblins, ghouls and spooks of every kind. This Parade has been dubbed the largest grass roots event in the nation and kicks-off Sunday October 31 from 7-10pm. The starting point for this “larger than life” extravaganza is 6th Avenue, South of Spring Street and North of Canal. Anyone in costume is welcome to join the anticipated 60,000 costumed performers, hundreds of puppets, 53 Bands, dancers and artists that will take to the streets to entertain the over 2 million New Yorkers that line the streets in costumes of their own creation to celebrate in the nation’s most wildly creative public participatory event in the World. No doubt Universal and Disney are jealous of the magnitude of this awesome event. I have it from a reliable “NYC Gay A-lister” named Jeremy Jankowski that some of the hottest and trendiest parties in the city can be found this Halloween at: Splash (www.splashbar.com), Urge (www.theurgenyc.com), The Cock (www.yelp. com/biz/the-cock-new-york) and one of the longest running bars in the East Village: The Boiler Room - (86 E. 4th St, 212-254-7536). So get your hottest, fiercest Halloween drag or garb on and hit the streets in Atlanta, Tampa, Key West, Orlando, NYC or wherever you are this Halloween.

Mike Ruiz loves the camera and the camera loves him. So when Logo decided to document the lives of Gotham’s gay elite in their new show, AList: New York, of course they had to include him. The celebrity photographer has worked with everyone from Kelly Clarkson to Adam Lambert to Katy Perry. Most of his work has been behind– the-lens but his good looks and Herculean body have been seen on several reality shows including America’s Next Top Model, RuPaul’s Drag Race and Kathy Griffin’s My Life on the D-List. We spoke to Ruiz about his new show, how he’s handling the adoration of gay fans, and what it means to be an ‘A’ gay.
Why did you decide to participate in the show? I'm a risk taker. Also, I knew it would be an amazing crash course in TV production. What I've leaned from the show can never be taught in a classroom. How do you feel about the A-List: New York being referred to as “The Gay Housewives of New York”? It's a smart marketing tactic. The "Housewives" franchise is wildly successful. Can we expect a lot of drama and cattiness on the show? The viewers can expect a whole lot of bitch fighting! There is a ton of drama but it's all in good fun. Are you the voice of reason on the show? I’m like Faye Dunaway in Mommie Dearest. In public, I pretend to be kind and gentle but in private, I beat the boys with coat hangers! Judging from the trailers we’ve seen, the boys could use some discipline. Seriously, my role on the show is me being me. Not sure what that is exactly. Will we get to see Mike Ruiz at work in the studio? I haven’t seen the final cut but I think viewers will see a lot of what goes on behind the scenes in my professional and personal life. During taping, I shot with Margaret Cho, Kelly Rowland and DJ Tracy Young. Will we see Mike Ruiz at home with the bf? My relationship is sacred to me. I didn't want to jeopardize it by having it on display.

Can you sympathize with your pal Kathy Griffin now that you know how it feels to live in front of cameras? I have been in front of the cameras for the better part of twenty years. I'm kind of oblivious to them now. Also, if you are strategic as to when you allow the cameras to follow you, it never becomes taxing. What have you learned from this experience? I have learned how to filter myself from my usual verbal diarrhea. I have also learned to let go of some control. I had to let the crew do their jobs without giving too much of my own creative input and that was hard! Would you ever do it again? Filming a reality show is like having a giant mirror held up to you. It can be devastating or if you like the way you conduct yourself, it can be a great reaffirmation. It's taken me 45 years of conquering many demons and I'm happy to say that I no longer cringe when I look in the mirror. What new things can we expect from you this winter? I shot several episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race that will air in February. I’m about to unveil a bunch of new celebrity transformations and a few music videos and if the planets align, I'm hoping to begin production of the sequel to the one and only film I've directed. I'm also wrapping up on a coffee table book. Being an ‘A’ gay sound like a lot of work. It’s also a lot of fun. Visit http://www.mikeruiz.com/.

DADT, ENDA, DOMA "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." -Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
DADT. ENDA. DOMA. What do they mean? Why do they matter to you? Consider this: Freedom, Equal Rights and The Constitution of the United States, Amendment 14 (1868), Article 1. If you do not support Equal Rights for all, how can you expect others to stand up for your rights?
Employee Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA): This is

How would you like to be fired because someone didn’t like, say, the color of your eyes? (Sounds like Nazi Germany: only blond hair, blue eyes.) If you are doing the job you were hired to do, then why should you be fired just because someone doesn’t like something about you? If you are qualified for a job, shouldn’t you receive the same consideration as everyone else?
tion has been used by the military to take away the right of American citizens to serve their country. Men and women have been discharged without due process solely on accusation. Service members have had illegal searches performed on their personal property while they were not present as “evidence” used to prosecute them under DADT. One such case involved a illegal search that produced only one photograph of a group of men standing together outside a “gay bar.” This was the ONLY evidence presented. The man was discharged.
pending legislation that would eliminate discrimination in the workplace. Most of us have never faced discrimination; some of us face it every day. Discrimination takes many forms, most of them underhanded and insidious.
You say this doesn’t concern you because you have worked all your life and are now retired? Think again. Age discrimination is all around us. If you don’t experience it now, just wait, you will experience it and you will change your mind.
The ultra conservative elements in this country are trying to take away your Social Security benefits as you are reading this. Enacting ENDA will have far more reaching effects than just ending discrimination on the job. "Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law." feelings in the Constitution of the United States, Amendment 1(1791) which states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…”
In what religion? So, marriage is NOT a religious institution and Civil Unions are, in effect, Civil Marriages and should be treated as such. Marriage affords 1138 benefits that so called Civil Unions do not.
Marriage is a civil matter. One cannot have a legal marriage without first obtaining civil permission. You may choose to have a religious ceremony or a Civil Ceremony. No one is required to have a religious figure either present at, or preside over their marriage. Those who oppose Marriage Equality do so “on religious grounds,” claiming it is a religious matter.
For example: - Social Security pension - Continuation of employer sponsored health benefits - Making, revoking and objecting to post-mortem anatomical gifts - Medicaid - Joint filing of tax returns - Next-of-kin status for emergency medical decisions or filing wrongful death claims - Tax-free transfer of property between spouses (including on death) and exemption from "due-on-sale" clauses.
If this were true, I ask where did the mayor, ship captains, clerks, Justices of the Peace and Notaries Public get ordained?
As an American and as a human being, you must find it troubling that these things exist in our great country. "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." Fall is always an interesting time for clothing. It’s not quite cold enough to break out a heavy jacket, yet not quite warm enough to continue your summer wardrobe (so long tank-tops!). Take into consideration these fun versions of old classics when shopping for this in-between season. Henley
Long-sleeve Henley shirts are one word – COMFORTABLE. But they can also get relatively boring. I’ve been finding more and more Henley shirts with buttons lined to the side, shoulder or in other fun areas. Finding different forms of this popular shirt allows an edgy look while maintaining a still semi-dressy appearance. My personal favorite is a looser (almost oversized) 100% organic cotton blend Henley draped over skinny jeans.
Carrot Top Jeans
Boot cut, skinny, baggy - they’ve all been done before. TOPSHOP has introduced the world (or at least me?) to Carrot-Top jeans. These pants feature a fuller top, tapering inward towards the bottom of the pant. They also come in an array of colors and fabrics which guarantee to make statement wherever you go.
Eternity Scarf
Regular scarves are a thing of the past. Often made from cotton and other comfortable light fabrics, the eternity scarf is a fun take on a boring classis looping fully around your head with no annoying ends to tie up. OMG 46
Oversized Beanie
For when you want to give hair-styling a break, or are just plain tired – beanies are a great thing to have in one’s closet. Oversized beanies such as this are fun for comfort (the oversized nature doesn’t constrict like original beanies) and still look artsy-sheik.
The Draped Cardigan
No longer just for women, more and more designers have been popping up with interesting takes on cardigans for men. This draped cardigan is a favorite of mine. Not only does it subtly standout, it also allows coverage of your mid section (after all, summer dieting is finally over!).
Gawdy Rings
One great thing about darker fall colors is the option to accessorize a little more. Find a vintage or new-age gawdy ring and wear it on the hand you write with (so it is as noticeable as can be). One can also match with plain silver or gold bands on other fingers – just remember not to add more than one gawdy ring as to not over accessorize.

Rosemary
Oil Can
Help You Live a
Better Life
R
osemary oil is one of the most popular essential oils. Rosemary oil’s importance can be attributed to its various health benefits including its ability to stimulate hair growth, boost mental activity, relieve respiratory problems and reduce pain. Rosemary, also known as Rosmarinus Officinalis, has been popular in the Mediterranean region as a culinary herb for years. Many dishes are cooked with rosemary oil and freshly plucked rosemary leaves. Rosemary essential oil is mostly extracted from the leaves. The rosemary bush belongs to the mint family which includes basil, lavender, myrtle and sage. Rosemary has been extensively used since ancient times for a variety of purposes. The Romans gave special importance to rosemary plant and used it in religious ceremonies. Its use extended to wedding ceremonies, food, cosmetics and herbal care. The rosemary plant and its extract were also used in the ancient Egyptian civilization as incense. The health benefits of rosemary essential oil made it a favorite of Paracelsus, a renowned physician, who made significant contribution to herbal medicine during the sixteenth century. Paracelsus valued rosemary oil due to its ability to strengthen the entire body. He rightly believed that rosemary oil had the ability to heal delicate organs such as liver, brain as well as heart. Today, many medicinal preparations contain rosemary oil.
OMG 54
Various health benefits of rosemary oil are listed below: Hair Care: Rosemary oil and rosemary teas are used extensively for hair care in shampoos and lotions. Regular use of rosemary oil helps in stimulating follicles, as a result of which, hair grow longer and stronger. It is also believed that rosemary oil slows down premature hair loss and graying of hair. Hence it is an excellent tonic for bald people. Rosemary essential oil is also beneficial for dry and flaky scalps. Regular massage of scalp with rosemary oil nourishes the scalp and removes dandruff. Further, it is often mixed with tea tree oil and basil oil to treat scalp problems. Mouth Care: Rosemary essential oil is a disinfectant and is used as a mouth wash; and research indicates it also helps in eliminate bad breath. Skin Care: Rosemary essential oil is not used in skin care as extensively as it is used in hair care. Regular massage with the oil helps in toning your skin and removing dryness. It is also considered as a beauty aid for the face. Boost Mental Activity: Rosemary essential oil is an excellent brain and nerve tonic. It is often used by students during exam times as it increases concentration and helps in studying efficiently. It stimulates mental activity and is a good remedy for depression, mental fatigue and forgetfulness. Inhaling rosemary oil lifts your spirits immediately. Whenever your brain is tired, inhale rosemary oil to remove boredom and get fresh mental energy.
Pain Relief: The ability of rosemary essential oil to relieve pain has resulted in its extensive usage in headaches, muscle pains, sore muscles, rheumatism and even arthritis. Massaging with rosemary essential oil works to relief body aches and pains. Vapor baths with rosemary oil is found to be effective for rheumatism. Aroma: Rosemary has a mesmerizing aroma and hence rosemary essential oil is an excellent inhalant. The oil is used in room fresheners, cosmetics, beauty aids, food, bath oil, candles and perfumes due to its aroma. The oil, when inhaled brings mental energy and also clears the respiratory tract. Many people spray mixture of rosemary essential oil and water to remove bad odor from room. Respiratory Problems: The benefits of rosemary essential oil in treating respiratory problems are unmatched. The scent of the oil gives relief from throat congestion. The oil is used in treating respiratory allergies, cold, sore throat and flu. Since rosemary oil is antiseptic, it is effective for respiratory infections as well. The oil is antispasmodic and is used in bronchial asthma. Indigestion: Rosemary oil is often used for indigestion, flatulence and stomach cramps. Rosemary leaves are often added to meat dishes as it helps in digesting meat, especially lamb, beef and pork.
Other claimed health benefits of rosemary oil include its usage for disorders in menstrual cycle, menstrual cramps, peptic ulcer, urine flow, prostrate, gall bladder, intestine, liver, cataract, heart, sperm mobility, leukemia, kidney stones and associated pain. Research is also being carried out to study its potential in treating various types of cancers including colon, stomach, breast, and lung cancers. Rosemary oil may, at times, have allergic reactions and hence it should be used only with prescription. Since rosemary oil is volatile in nature, the oil may cause vomiting and spasms. Hence it should not be consumed orally. It is suggested that rosemary essential oil should not be used by pregnant and breastfeeding or nursing women. Excessive dosage of the oil may lead to miscarriage or may affect the fetus. Rosemary essential oil is used extensively in aromatherapy as it can be used in many preparations. The oil blends well with frankincense, lavender, clary sage, cedarwood, basil, thyme, citronella, lemongrass, elemi, geranium, chamomile, peppermint and cardamom. Quality Rosemary essential oil can be found at your local health food store or vitamin shops; and for a minimal investment you can be on the road to a better you – NATURALLY.

Halloween is in the air and in honor of it; I’d like to tell ya a little story about my past. I grew up in a Funeral Home. My dad was an undertaker and because of it. I was bullied and teased all the way through school. Funny that the kids didn’t harp on the obvious fact that I was gay. Instead, they went after me because of what my honorable family profession was. Prejudice comes in all shapes and sizes and none of it should be tolerated. “Morticia” became my nickname and I inherited a very warped sense of humor to cope. Halloween was my delicious time to get even by playing spooky sound clips though our door intercom to the petrified trick-or-treater’s on the street. Now many years later I’m still playing spooky audio during this gayest season of all seasons. Everyone expects “Thriller,” “Monster Mash” and “Ghostbusters” but here’s a few obscure gems to seek out for a good spook fest.
“Bella Lugosi’s Dead” by Bauhaus // Possibly the first ever gothic rock song, Bauhaus’ classic homage to the popular Dragula actor still slays the masses. Featured in the movies The Hunger, Dead Man’s Curve, The Collector and SNL’s Goth Talk segments, the 1979 release was recorded in one take. 9 minutes of the creepiest stuff you’ll ever hear, even the sleeve art still taken from The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is memorable.
“Funhouse” by Pink // An anthem for the Evil Clown phobes of the world! Killer Clowns from Outer Space has nothing on this. “This used to be a Funhouse but now it’s filled with evil clowns…” Pink may have been singing about her split from her ex but the pyromania house burning analogy about torching the funny guys in white face makeup is brilliant. Counting down from “9,” may the scorned exes of the universe unite.
“How Soon Is Now” by The Smiths // The “Stairway to Heaven” of the 1980’s, this Morrissey-penned epic is often associated with witchcraft and all things Wicca. A cover of the song by Love Spit Love was featured in the film The Craft as well as the TV series Charmed and voted one of the Top 10 TV Themes of All Time. The harmonics of the song’s guitar rift carry the listener on it’s primal journey and haunting lyrics "I am the son, and the heir, of a shyness that is criminally vulgar / I am the son and heir, of nothing in particular", and the chorus: "I am human and I need to be loved / Just like everybody else does" seal the package with a pentagram.
OMG 58
“Insomnia” by Faithless // The late 1990’s brought us this amazing pop-techno big room sensation. UK rapper Maxi Jazz weaves a story of late night sleep deprived frustrations and empty refrigerators amid haunting Big Ben bells and creaky noises that will make your skin creep. Armand Van Helden’s Monster and European Vacation mixes are the ones to seek out. Don’t listen to this when you’re having “one of those nights”….sleep will NEVER come.
“Red Right Hand” by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds // Taken from Milton’s Paradise Lost, the song references a murderer and the vengeful hand of God. It is the official theme of the Scream slasher series and also appears in Hellboy and The X-Files. Instantly recognizable, it takes the listener back to the first time we saw Drew Barrimore get axed by Ghostface in the first few minutes of Scream. A word to the wise… never pick up the phone… after dark… and answer the question… “do you like scary movies?”
“Everyday is Halloween” by Ministry // The un-official theme of Goth subculture, this song speaks of intolerance and acceptance of those who are different. “Why can't I live a life for me? Why should I take the abuse that's served? Why can't they see they're just like me? It's the same; it's the same in the whole wide world!” Now more than ever, the lyrics of this 1980’s classic resonate with me. It is my impassioned and honest wish that the world will take a lesson from the recent hateful, senseless acts of others and realize deep down we are all human despite our differences.

ello readers! FYI is focusing this week on the proud & prideful side. I just participated in Come Out With Pride Orlando Parade and rode on the Hamburger Mary’s float called the “Peace Parade.” We had such a great time and the joy of seeing all types of people cheering us on was just incredible. Children, seniors and families of all kinds waving and sending a positive message in these troubled times was an extraordinary thing. Unfortunately, there is still much evil, and hatred in this world in regard to our community. I will share with you that I was engaged to be married to my girlfriend of five years and was in turmoil due to religious beliefs; a father who was very close to a Ku Klux Klan member. I attempted to cut my wrist at one time due to the pressure. Even with the façade of having a girlfriend, I was having feelings for men and acted on them of which made it worse. Onto other news… With multiple shows that are now mainstream and successful like Modern Family, I thought that this would really educate and show people the truth about gay couples and parenting. Not so, I am afraid. Remember when we thought that Will & Grace had really brought us to the level playing field? The bullying and prejudice has to stop now. Speaking of Modern Family, it earned another accolade: not for it's punch lines or comedy, but for it's portrayal of diversity in America at the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network Respect Awards. The comedy stood out from the crowd with the talents of actors Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet who play a gay couple with their infant daughter. Even though the show was praised as a positive example of diversity in the media, Ferguson admitted that the message of acceptance
still has a bumpy road ahead with the recent surge of teen suicides propelled by anti-gay bullying. "I do have the same sort of mixed feeling, in the light of everything that's happened," said Ferguson to the AP. "However, I think an event like this echoes the sentiment that we need to change. This cannot continue happening." I do have a thought, what if all the celebrities who are now over 40 came out? I mean it. Especially the powerful ones. What if the following people were gay? Big names like Oprah Winfrey, Wynonna, Mario Lopez, Anderson Cooper, Gayle King, George Clooney and so on. If they were to come out and scream out against the treatment of the community, I guarantee you things could change. After all, I think Oprah was key in electing Barrack Obama as our US President. Hell, she can sell a book in a minute to become a best seller. It’s just a curious thought. I would love to be here in about 30 years to finally see how we grow and I pray we do get the chance. On the lighter side, Halloween is coming and I have so many Lady GaGa wigs in my store to sell. The fantasy of her is so intense and I hear her new CD is going to be great. I feel she will be a force in the entertainment industry for a long time if she wants to be. I never thought anyone could take Madonna’s place, but I feel this lady may be the perfect fit. Sometimes the torch has to be passed and the fantasy of this lady had become the fantasy of so many. Children, drag queens, seniors, military teams are tuning into this fantasy genius. That about does it for me today. My celebrity diva this week is the one and only Miss Carol Lee. This stand up performer brings so much joy to audiences all over Orlando. You go Girl! FYI, don’t forget to pick up your copy of OMG! Magazine. Till Next Time,

Celebrity Fantasies
H
ave you ever looked at a gorgeous girl and found yourself drooling like a hungry beast? You can’t deny it. It happens. I admit that there are a few females I would love to chase down but… we don’t get to see them around our area unless it’s a movie they’re making in south Florida. Yes I’m talking about beautiful actress like Angelina Jolie, Michelle Rodriguez (freaking yummmmy!) and Sarah Shahi who plays Carmen in the show The L Word just to name a few. As you all know, Angelina Jolie is the hottest actresses in the movie industry. Even as a mother of six kids, Angie still pulls off looking hot. She’s hot whether she’s a computer hacker in Hackers or as juicy lip supermodel Gia Carangi in Gia. I don’t know if a lot of you are familiar with actress Sarah Shahi. I actually had no idea who she was until I started watching The L Word. Far as I know, she hasn’t made any major films just yet.
OMG 72
She has appeared in other television series such as Dawson’s Creek, The Sopranos and even played a ghost in Supernatural. I guess it’s time to rent some DVD Box Sets of those television shows, because I do not remember her ever seeing her fine self on an episode of Dawson’s Creek. But ladies and gentlemen, the one female that always has me staring at her in amazement is actress Michelle Rodriguez. I’m sorry Angelina but I’d take two seconds with Michelle and call it a day. I don’t know if it’s just her attitude that turns me on, but her physical appearance is just as mouthwatering. She was solid as a boxer in Girlfight and one hot bitch in the Fast & Furious movies. I just hate it when her characters die in movies such as Resident Evil or Avatar. So a note to all readers: if you ever have the chance to meet Michelle Rodriguez, please give her my number.
