Meet the author: Hello everyone! My name is Young Le, the author of this magazine that you are reading! I am a Communications Arts senior with a track in Public Relations/ Journalism. I am also minioring in Marketing Management. I severed as the HistorianReporter on the executive council of Zeta Tau Alpha at Salisbury University. I loved my position because I got to manage all of our social media platforms

and I was the head of our Public Relations! My dream job is to work at a PR firm in the fashion industry or a social media marketing manager! For my final project in my CMAT 348 class, I chose to dedicate my magazine to boba! It is something I am passionate about and love! I was asked to be a Kung Fu Tea Brand Ambassador because of all my Instagram posts about KFT!
What is Boba?

Boba Milk Tea, or also known as “Bubble Milk Tea”, “Pearl Milk Tea” or simply “boba” is a Taiwanses tea-based drink. It contains tea of some kind, flavors or milk, as well as sugar (optional). It is usually accompained with tapioca balls, which is also known as “boba pearls”. The drink is served with an oversized straw in order for the customers to suck up the pearls at the bottom while sipping the milk tea together.

History of Boba Tea Though Boba Milk Tea have recently became incredibly popular, surprisingly, its history still remains a mystery. However, there are two theories circulating around the beverage. One from Tainan, Taiwan and the other from Taichung, Taiwan.

Kung Fu Tea was founded in 2009 by Michael, Allen, Ray, and Sean. They use tea leaves that are handpicked from the mountains of Taiwan, premium natural ingredients, and an unique handcrafting process. KFT makes their bubbles every 2 hours, brew their tea every 3 hours, so each drink is freshly made-to-order on the spot!

Kokee Tea was founded by Sean and Anthony in Virginia and have been slowly expanding to near by states such as Maryland. They expanded their vision of offering high quality milk tea, made with hand-crafted consistency and natural ingredients. Kokee’s brand logo is the elephant, they are cherished as gentle, sociable, and majestic beings. They combined “Kokee” which means elephant in an Eastern language and “Tea”, hoping that the brand would provide the love and gentleness of elephants, but also symbolize their fun and power.

Salisbury Boba is a locally owned bubble tea shop in Salisbury, MD. It is located in the Clairmont Plaza at 1012 South Salisbury Blvd. Salisbury Boba recently opened in August 2018. They offer a wide range of teas, milk tea flavors, and smoothies with different toppings.
