TyPes OF OmniTRans Passes

31-day Passes 31-Day Passes are good for 31 consecutive days, beginning with the first use. For example, if you first use the pass on September 15, the pass is good through October 15. The first time you insert your pass into the farebox card reader on the bus, and the machine will print the effective dates right on the pass for you. 7-day Passes 7-day Passes work much like a 31-Day pass – the pass is good for seven days, beginning with the first use. For example, if you first use the pass on Friday, September 19, it will be good through Thursday, September 25. And just like the 31-Day pass, the farebox card reader will print the effective dates on the pass for you when you activate the pass. day Passes Day Passes are good for one day of unlimited travel on all local Omnitrans buses. For your convenience, they are available for purchase on any Omnitrans bus. You also can order packages of 10 Day Passes by mail, or at locations shown on pgs. 2-3. Pricing Full Fare Day Pass $5.00 10-Pack $45.00 Senior/Disability/Medicare Day Pass $2.25 10-Pack $20.00 For your convenience, all passes are available by mail, at all pass outlets (please see the list on page 2-3) and online at www.omnitrans.org. No refunds for non-service holidays, lost, stoled, damaged or misused pases.

sbX FaRes sbX fares are exactly the same and cost the same as Omnitrans local bus fares. Fares may be purchased at the ticket vending machine, located on any sbX boarding platform, or at a pass outlet. 1-Day and 7-Day passes are available onboard. Cash paying riders, please board at door closest to the front. Please be prepared to show proof of payment onboard. For more boarding information, see page 6.

Bus Pass TeRms & COndiTiOns • There are no refunds for lost, stolen, damaged, unused or misused passes. • One Day, 7- Day and 31-Day Passes are nontransferable to another person. • Passengers misusing passes or ID’s may be denied service. • Please sign your 7-Day and 31-Day Pass. • Coach operators may request identification to prove pass ownership. • Passes must be validated each time you board. • Passes are valid on Omnitrans fixed-route buses only. • Persons purchasing reduced fare passes (senior, disability, youth) must show proof of eligibility at the time of purchase. • Persons using reduced fare passes may be requested to show proof of eligibility on board.

TRansFeRs: FOOThill and RTa Omnitrans does not issue transfers to its passengers. If you need to change buses to complete your trip, or need to travel past the end of the line on a route, you will have to pay another fare when you board the next bus, unless you purchase a 1-Day, 7-Day or 31-Day pass. You may use your Omnitrans pass as a transfer to Foothill Transit at the Montclair Transit Center and the Pomona Transit Center. You may use your Omnitrans pass to transfer to Riverside Transit agency (RTa) at the VA Hospital in Loma Linda and the Highgrove Library in Riverside County. Omnitrans does not accept free transfers from Beaumont Pass Transit and Victor Valley Transit; Beamont Pass Transit does not accept free transfers from Omnitrans.

meTROlinK TRansFeRs You may use your one-way Metrolink ticket for one free ride on Omnitrans bus departing a Metrolink station. You can also use your round trip Metrolink ticket or multi-day pass for one Omnitrans bus trip to and from a Metrolink station. Metrolink ticket/pass must be valid for date of travel. Show to driver when boarding. Valid on connecting routes only. See pg. 16 for more details.

TaP CaRds TAP cards are accepted fare payment methods for Southern California transit agencies such as Metro, Santa Clarita Transit Culver Citybus, Antelope Valley Transit Authority, Foothill Transit, Norwalk Transit and Montebello Transit. Passengers using a TAP card can receive a free transfer onto an Omnitrans bus only where Foothill Transit and Omnitrans connect, AND when the TAP card is accompanied by a paper transfer issued by Foothill Transit. An Orange Disability and Senior TAP card can be used as ID to qualify for a reduced fare onboard Omnitrans buses, but it cannot be used to ride Omnitrans Access Service. PAGE 4

An Omnitrans photo identifcation card provides seniors age 62 plus and qualified persons with disabilities with convenient proof of eligibility for discounted bus passes and cash fare up to 50% off regular fares. Proof of age, disability or medicare card must be shown to the Operator. To get a senior or disability Omnitrans ID, just mail a copy of one of the following forms of identification with our application, a recent wallet sized photo and a $2 processing fee to:

PeRsOnal CaRe aTTendanT Personal Care Attendants Ride Free when traveling with, boarding at the same stop as and alighting at the same stop as a fare paying ADA passenger. The passenger’s ADA card must state they are PCA eligible.

Be Ready TO Ride

• Be ready with exact change, bus pass or transfer BEFORE you board. If paying with a discounted fare, show the required ID to the driver.

• Be careful at the bus stops and don’t crowd the curb. Stand next to or directly under the bus stop sign. • Don’t forget to signal to your driver to stop, especially if riding at night. Your driver needs to know that you need to board. • Watch the bus as it approaches and make sure that the number displayed on its headsign (just above the windshield) matches the number of the route you need to take.

BOaRdinG & RidinG The Bus

Quickly take a seat and remain seated while the bus is in motion. If the bus is crowded, and you have to stand, please stand behind the yellow lines and move as far to the rear of the bus as possible, holding the handrails or straps. Please remember, the front seats are reserved for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. We require that you: ✔ Be ready with exact change, bus pass or transfer BEFORE you board. If paying with a discounted fare, show the required ID to the driver. ✔ Keep arms, legs and personal belongings out of the aisle.

✔ If you have a stroller, please fold it up and store it out of the way of other passengers. Nonfolding strollers should be taken to the back of the bus. While you are riding, hold babies and small children on your lap. For their safety, children are not allowed to board, exit, or ride while in a stroller. ✔ Do not eat, smoke or drink on the bus.Please do not use profanity on the bus. And no feet on the seats, please. ✔ All music players must be used with headphones.

✔ Service animals are allowed to accompany persons with disabilities. That person is responsible for the actions of the animal while aboard the bus. ✔ Pets may only ride the bus if they are in a secure pet carrier that fits in your lap.

✔ Never run alongside a moving bus. Do not attempt to board a bus which has pulled away from the curb; drivers are not allowed to stop once they depart.

✔ Do not act or make comments that could be perceived as threatening to other passengers or your driver. Omnitrans supports the United States Patriot Act of 2001,which strengthens laws against terrorism, and makes it a federal crime to commit violent acts against mass transportation workers, vehicles and facilities. ✔ No smoking or electronic cigarettes allowed onboard.

siGnal FOR sTOP/eXiTinG The Bus

As your destination stop approaches, let your driver know that you’d like to get off at the next bus stop by pressing the rubber strip near the window. Your driver will pull the bus over at the next safe stop. Please exit at the back of the bus, and only step into the stairwell after the bus has stopped. Be sure to move away from the bus once you’ve exited, to give your driver plenty of room to safely re-enter traffic.

Bus stop signs display the route number and logo on top, and NexTrip instrructions on a second sign at eye level. You will also notice the 4 digit ID number, which identifies the bus stop location. Reference this bus stop ID number when using NexTrip, or calling our service center, (1-800-9OMNIBUS).

hOW TO use neXTRiP TEXT: Send a text to 41411. Type OMNI and your 4 digit stop ID number. Be sure to leave a space between “Omni” and the stop number. You will receive a text message with bus arrival times for your stop. TRANSFER CENTERS Timepoint – Selected stops along a route that are printed in the Bus Book to give customers the route’s direction and schedule. Timepoints are also used by our drivers to keep buses on schedule.

Transfer Point – Stops where you can transfer to other Omnitrans routes to complete your trip. Transfer points are shown with the symbol at right on route maps. A list of all connecting route numbers is attached to transfer points on route maps. At Transit Centers and a few selected locations, you also can connect with other transit systems (see page 8 for a list of inter-agency transfer points).

Tripper service – This means that the route deviates from its regular path at specific times of the day, to make a special pick-up. Often, this is done to pick students up from a school.

Peak Only – This type of service only operates during “peak,” or busiest, travel times. For example, a route may operate only for a few morning and afternoon trips.

end of the line – Indicates that the bus has completed its route and will begin a new trip. Buses only drop passengers off at the end of line. If you’re already on the bus and want to continue riding after it has reached the end of the line, you must pay a new fare.

arrivals and departures – A schedule may have two columns of time listed under a specific timepoint, with an “A” under one and “D” under the other. This means that the bus will arrive at the timepoint at the first time, then wait a few minutes and depart from the stop at the second time listed.

There are several transit centers in the Omnitrans service area, where many routes meet to make transferring to another bus easier. The transit center maps on these pages show you where bus stops are located at each transfer center, as well as which routes serve each stop. For schedule information on any route, just check this Bus Book!

BIKE & RIDE WITH OMNITRANS BIKE RACKS!

Regular Omnitrans buses are equipped with a bike rack on the front bumper than can hold two or three bikes. Bike racks can be used anytime during service hours, free of charge. Tire size must be at least 20” in diameter, which excludes most children’s bikes and motorized scooters. Children under age 14 can only use the racks if accompanied by a bus-riding adult. Omnitrans is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged bikes. Owners assume all risk for transported bikes and are responsible for loading and loading bikes. Bikes are not allowed onboard regular buses. For safety reasons, your driver is not allowed to help load or unload your bike.

Bike loading and unloading steps:

1. Have your bike at the curb ready to load. Signal to your driver. Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop and then tell your driver you will be loading a bike. 2. Go to the front of the bus and lower the bike rack from the folded position.

3. Lift your bike onto the rack and raise the support arm over the front tire. 4. Before exiting, tell your driver you want to unload the bike. To unload, pull the support arm out and down over the front tire, lift your bike onto the curb, fold the rack up to the locked position, step away from bus and signal the driver to let him know you are finished.

1. Board your bike using the door closest to the rear of the vehicle. Look for the symbol on the doors. 2. Place bike in racks located inside the bike storage area with bike facing the rear of the bus. Wedge the rear tire between the metal bars. Secure bike using the nylon strap, fastened to the metal railing above racks.

USING THE MOBILITY DEVICE LIFT/RAMP

all Omnitrans buses are equipped with lifts or ramps to board passengers with wheelchairs and other mobility devices. WhO may use The liFT/RamP? • The lift/ramp may be used by persons with disabilities who cannot step onto the bus to board, including: riders using wheelchairs, scooters, orthopedic strollers, or similar mobility devices.

• Passengers using walkers, canes, crutches, or portable oxygen units, may use the ramp. • Passengers who are not able to step onto the bus may use the ramp.

• Omnitrans buses can also “kneel” on request for easier boarding by orthopedically-challenged riders. Some stop locations may not be suitable for “kneeling”.

• Drivers will make every attempt to accommodate the rider’s mobility device. The mobility device must safely fit onto the lift platform and the lift must be able to safely raise the mobility device and its occupant. Service can be refused If the mobility device and its occupant cannot safely utilize the lift to board the vehicle. WhO may nOT use The RamP? • Riders with retail shopping carts, wagons or regular baby strollers.

• Personal Care Attendants and companions of persons qualified to use the lift/ramp.

BOaRdinG Wait at the bus stop and indicate to the driver that you need to use the lift/ramp. Position yourself to be in the clear as it deploys. When the bus pulls up to the curb, just let the coach operator know that you need to use the ramp and they’ll be happy to deploy it for you. The ramp is located at the front of the bus; just look for the wheelchair symbol on the bus’ door.

Be sure to position yourself so that you’re clear of the ramp as it deploys. Your coach operator will let you know when it’s safe to move on to the ramp.

When you’re all set, pay your fare and give your coach operator your destination. This will help to ensure that the bus is positioned correctly at the stop, so that you can conveniently exit the bus.

Coach Operators will decline to provide service to a rider who refuses to allow his or her mobility device to be secured. eXiTinG • When the bus stops, please be patient as your coach operator allows other customers to board and exit the bus. As soon as everyone’s on board, your mobility device will be released from its safety clamp/belts.

• Wait for the driver to tell you to move on to the platform. When on the lift, set the brake on your wheelchair or mobility device; if you are standing, hold onto the handrails for support.

• When exiting, wait until the lift has reached the ground and the safety barrier has dropped before moving off the platform.

• Front and backward facing riding positions for mobility devices.

• The ability to self-secure your mobility device without any assistance.

• sbX stations offer level boarding with bridge plates, shown at right, to span the gap between platform and vehicle.

service animals Designated service animals are welcome to ride the bus free of charge. Please note that your driver may ask if your animal is a service animal, and what tasks the animal has been trained to perform. You also may be asked to remove your service animal from the bus if 1) the animal’s behavior is out of control, and you do not take effective action to control it; or 2) the animal poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others. Pets may only ride the bus if they are in a secure pet carrier that fits on your lap.
