Soror Barbara Franklin Moham Omicron Mu Omega Chapter Dallas, Texas

OUTSTANDING BASILEUS AWARD

This scrapbook is dedicated to the sorors of my dear Omicron Mu Omega Chapter. Your vote of unanimous support has been a blessing. The confidence each of you showed during my administration was second to none. One would think that leading a group of African American college-educated women would be stressful and tiring; however, I experienced nothing of the sort. I witnessed first-hand the sincere devotion and love from each member. There is no way I can repay or express my sincerest humility to you for treating me with sisterly love and kindness. Despite that most of 2020 was virtual, each of you stepped up to the call of continuing to serve the community and each other. The officers and committee chairmen/co-chairmen led with POWER in the spirit of Excellence! Committee members pivoted and made the transition of realigning service projects, increasing donations, and checking on each other. There was even more innovation and creativity with meeting, working and collaborating with each other. Wow, what a blessing!

Thank you to the First Anti-Basileus, Soror Dannielle Taylor, who has supported me in more ways than one. From sharing advice and expertise, to serving as a cheerleader on pressing issues. During these last 2 years we both endured significant losses that changed both of us forever. A gigantic thank you to the 17 ladies who have gone before me in the role as chapter Basileus; your support, guidance, love, and sisterliness have been unmatched and superior to anything I’ve experienced during my 36 years in Alpha Kappa Alpha. Lastly, thank you to my family; my husband William, my niece/daughter Chelsea, my sister Melinda, nephews/grandsons Alijah and Eoin and all the other family members who endured my busy and demanding schedules and my numerous requests for absences at family functions and even changing the dates of our reunions just so I could be in attendance. I realize that I am truly blessed to have a close family, who extends love beyond the bounds of reason. Your prayers, words of encouragement, and support have enabled me to stand firm and know that I was doing God’s Will. Thank you!

“The POWER of Sisterhood and Service is in Omicron Mu Omega!”
