Welcome to the special edition of the STAR (South Texas Assemblies Review) combined with the 2013 South Texas District Leadership Tour Book. In here you’ll find all the content that is normally in the Leadership Book plus the contents that are part of The STAR - Winter Edition 2013. The STAR has been updated from a once a month mail only publication to a digital quarterly publication. It is now available online to everyone as a digital magazine. The design of the magazine will continue to be updated to be more easily accessible online and on mobile devices like tablets and smart-phones. Links on various pages can be used to access additional information or resources. Email addresses are also made into links so you can click on them and send email communications quickly.

The STAR - Winter 2013 & District Leadership Tour Book Special Combination Edition For those ministers who do not have access to internet or email, we are sending a printed copy in the mail. If you are reading a printed copy of the STAR, please be aware that it is printed from the digital design. In the printed copies some features may appear odd, like links or phrases that apply to online resources, but these are functional for the digital copy. Please feel free to call us if you need additional information on any items. We will help you get what you need. Any time a resource in the digital version of the STAR is not working for you, please contact us for further assistance. email: dwilson@stxag.org phone: 713-455-1221

(mission) to fulfill the vision God has put on your heart. Satan does everything he can to “kill” the vision and hinder the mission God has given you. He has always been the killer of babies and in this sense, your vision & mission that is in its embryonic stage. He tries to put to death the new vision, the new leader, the new strategy, the new ministry. Don’t think it strange when this happens. Remember Moses, David, the baby Jesus, the children in Bethlehem and the infant church in Jerusalem.

Vision Killers The first Christmas was an incredibly exciting time. Old Testament prophesies surrounding the coming Messiah fulfilled. Angelic visitations. Dreams. Visions. God’s guidance in and around troubled times. Miracles. Divine deliverances. A virgin birth. Wise men. Shepherds. The Messiah revealed. But from the first prophetic announcement to the fulfillment of vision was mission, the feet on which the vision comes to pass. Herod was there to kill the vision and mission. Today you and I confront “Herods” on all sides. Do you remember the excitement of the vision God gave to you; about graduation, marriage, your calling, a new ministry or even retirement. Then Herod began to try to invade and kill the babies, your vision of life and ministry. The enemy does not really care how much vision you receive from God, but he begins to tremble when you take the necessary steps - South Texas Assemblies Review

fulfill the vision. We must continue to be students and learners about how to fulfill the call and vision God has placed in our heart.

2. Opposition against the vision. ! *A discouraging word from a ! friend or foe ! *Not seeing desired results ! *A lack of finances to ! ! support the vision 3. Coming face to face with our own weaknesses and inadequacies. Sometimes our harshest critic is ourself. 4. The multiplied cares of life ! *family ! *finances ! *friends ! *health challenges ! *life changes We know that opposition will come against us in our efforts to fulfill what God has put upon our heart. When this happens the writer of Hebrews reminds us, (Heb. 12:1-3) Do you see what this means —all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running— and never quit! No extra spiritual PAGE 7

fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls! (4-11) In this all-out match against sin, others have suffered far worse than you, to say nothing of what Jesus went through—all that bloodshed! So don’t feel sorry for yourselves. We must fix our eyes upon Jesus to come against all discouragement and receive His strength and renewed perspective to continue being faithful. (MSG) And secondly, make sure that each and every activity of life and ministry is centered around the fourfold foundation of New Testament activity as recorded in Acts 2:42. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (NIV84) These foundational life pillars will give you strength, encouragement and renewal when you feel like giving up. God has called you and He will give you the strength, wisdom and anointing to march forward and to formulate the strategy (mission) to fulfill the vision He has given you. King Herod will come, but God is greater than Herod! Today is the day for the gift in you to be stirred up and for your vision and mission to be renewed. “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.” 2 Timothy 1:6 (NIV84) www.stxag.org

The 2012/2013 South Texas Special Missions Project is Transform America / Transform South Texas! Your contributions are making the difference in many lives right here in South Texas. Churches are being planted and eternal destinies are being changed! This photo explains why we passionately plant churches in the Assemblies of God. Before Gateway Fellowship Church in Helotes, Texas, was planted - by a team led by Pastor John Van Pay (L) - Aaron Del Rio's famiy did not attend church. Here with the help of Aaron's father, Austin, Pastor Van Pay baptizes Aaron in a makeshift baptistery outside the Silverado 16 Movie Theatre where the church meets. The expression on Aaron's face explains our motivation. We can transform America by planting new, vibrant churches. We can pass the baton to the next generation.

Access South Texas Keeping our district ministers & ministries connected!

Ministers in South Texas are finding their Access South Texas accounts to be useful for their secure online giving, their minister’s directory and now the district calendar. Now you can use your computer, your tablet or your smart phone for your Access South Texas account and the new digital STAR to keep you connected. The STAR is now a digital resource you can use to connect to the information you need. It is now a digital magazine you can view on your computer and use the live links to access more information than ever before. It’s now available on iPad and smart phones so you are never without a copy whenever you may need it. (Smart phones display the current format which is very small, you will need to zoom in to read it, but it’s still helpful if you need a quick reference.) The ministry departments of South Texas all have lots of great information and resources available on their websites - the STAR links to each one of them. Our main district website www.stxag.org also links to these. Our Minister’s Directory is now available as a digital resource. To use it on your computer or tablet sign in to your “ACCESS SOUTH TEXAS” account. If you have used online giving through our website, then you have used your “ACCESS SOUTH TEXAS” account. If you haven’t done that yet, you can now. CLICK HERE to go to the member login page. Enter your username or email address along with your password to go to your Access South Texas home page. From here you can look up a fellow South Texas minister or church, you can access the district calendar and even keep track of your giving. If you need an account just click on the link under the sign in window to set up your Access South Texas account. You must use the email we already have on file to connect to your Access South Texas account. - South Texas Assemblies Review

The minister’s directory is also now available on your smart phone through an app called Church Life (by ACS). Just load the free app from your app store and log in with your Access South Texas username and password. To look someone up, just type the first few letters of their name in the search bar and hit search. This is a closed database and is only accessible to our ministers. This is not publicly available and is limited to only contact information. The 2013 calendar is also available on Access South Texas, on our website and soon through the Church Life app on your smart phone. Our world is becoming more digitally based. We desire to be technologically current and be good stewards of our financial resources. These changes will help us in both of these areas. Thank you for your patience during this transition. We hope that you will find advantages and enjoy the convenience of these upgrades. If you need assistance with your Access South Texas account or the Church Life app, email dwilson@stxag.org (Directory of churches is available on our website.)

“To Every Nation” documentary released on SAGUtv SAGU Digital Media Arts students joined student-led missionary teams to create a groundbreaking, feature-length documentary of their 2011 journey. “To Every Nation” premiered January 25, 2012, on www.sagu.tv. SAGU Director of World Ministries Chad Germany shares, “This will be a powerful, factual demonstration of the Gospel in word and deed. It can challenge and recruit students and even win people to Christ as it is shown in the United States.” In 2010, the SAGU Missions department introduced Mission TEN (To Every Nation), a humanitarian initiative to send students to serve in 192 nations, 34 Chinese provinces and 35 Indian states over the next 10 years. In two years, SAGU’s Mission TEN has ministered to 37 of the 261 locations it plans to reach. “To Every Nation” gave Digital Media Arts students hands-on training by telling the stories of missionaries worldwide. Nine embedded journalists divided into 2-person teams to cover 18 Mission TEN summer trips. Each team carried a backpack containing a laptop, a high definition camera that shoots video and still photos, a tripod, two external hard drives, a wireless audio kit, and a light and reflector kit. The journalism teams filmed and reported 2-3 personal interviews or ministries while in each country. The documentary was student-produced with faculty oversight. Students took particular care to protect missionaries’ identities.

SAGU receives $9.3 million in gifts in four months In the last ten years SAGU enrollment has increased 16 percent. Meanwhile, the combined enrollment of Communication Arts, Language Arts and Music has doubled. The growth of these programs created a need for additional space and learning tools. Thus began the process that would result in the university’s plan for its own World Communication Center. A monumental endeavor, President Bridges and his administrative team knew the project would be a challenge, totaling an estimated $21 million. The initial plan was to build the WCC in two phases. Segmenting the project would allow SAGU to construct the facility as resources became available. An unexpected $5 million gift to the WCC last September from a generous family, combined with $8 million authorized by the Board of Regents for financing, compelled the administration to consider the feasibility of constructing the entire facility at once. God has miraculously provided for SAGU throughout its 85year history and the last six months is evidence of His continued provision. Since September, the university has received an additional $1.8 million from the same generous family who gave the $5 million, as well as a $2.5 million gift from Dr. John and Diana Hagee. The gift was timely in view of SAGU’s most recent news concerning a challenge grant from the Mabee Foundation. The Mabee Foundation was instrumental in the construction of Sheaffer Full Life Center and Teeter Hall. This March, the university submitted a grant proposal for the WCC. On April 10, their Board convened and authorized a $1 million challenge grant on the condition that the remaining $1 million balance is raised by April 2013. The aforementioned gifts have placed SAGU within striking distance of funding this 79,000-squarefoot facility, which will be the second largest building on campus.

SOUNDING THE TRUMPET Jeremiah 6:17, I set watchman over you, saying, hearken to the sound of the trumpet. "HAPPY NEW YEAR"! Get ready South Texas, "game on". I believe 2013 is going to be a year filled with victory, souls saved, vessels filled, bodies healed, churches revived and Jesus renewing all who want a fresh touch of heaven.

you have a currency that becomes obsolete. This ushers in the mark of the beast or Anti-Christ. Remember Anti-Christ will be an impostor! Deceiver. Jesus said let no man deceive you, it was the first answer he gave concerning the end of the world. The word “change” became a deceptive bait for the deceiver. RY- The accelerating significance of the United Nations leading toward a confederation of nations.

Acts. 28:24, And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not. There is no doubt that we are in the Last of the Last day's. Paul said that some believed and some did not. Over all, we must usher in revival in the church before we ever see a revival in a nation. America needs REVIVAL!

RVI look for the Anti-Christ to have leadership, if not the United Nations leader of the world. I believe this will be someone who has a desire to make everyone equal, everyone religious and ok with God, and apologizes for the way's of certain nations, will be a promoter of Socialism for the whole world.

Author, speaker, and research analyst Ray Yungen has studied religious movements for nearly twenty five years. In his book titled A TIME OF DEPARTING, (released in 2000) he spoke of a coming apostasy in the form of mystical practices and "spiritual disciplines." This book of relevant prophetic words mentions apostasy in the church. This prophecy has quickly flourished in the mainstream churches.

RY- Increasing interest in the world finding a Christ figure who can solve the world's economic and political problems and unite the world in peace.

In this book he mentions respected Christian leaders with large followings who are now embracing the writings of mystics and contemplative authors. These authors are promoting a blending of religious, political and economic forces as future events unfold. Unity will be a key to the future and will be an increasing theme as the world awaits the Antichrist. We are now moving toward a one world leader and order. Let's look at the events that Ray Yungen wrote in the year of 2000. I will give my own “warning commentary” on each point. RYThe unifying of the world's religious thought where eastern-style mystical practice, to include yoga, contemplative prayer and healing practices. RV- The purpose of contemplative prayer is to enter an altered state of mind consciousness in order to “find one's true self, thus finding God.” Basically man is good, and God dwells in everyone. New age teaches that everyone has a divine center. Having no born again experience. The bottom line is that it is pantheistic (God is all). One world religion. RY- The Purpose Driven P.E.A.C.E. Plan where political, economic, and religious forces are brought together to form a unified effort. RV- To enter into the countries being silent with regard to biblical absolutes, promoting a dialectical state of mind, instead of belief, and to promote deeds instead of repentance to salvation. Bottom line, everyone is saved and is forming a one world religion. RY- Plans for a one world currency, especially as the value of the U.S. Dollar continues to decline, paving the way to the use of “the mark." RV- Our government has been printing money like never before. The more money printed the greater the decline in the value of the dollar. Add the “Obama plan,” which according to the Supreme Court decision is a TAX... You add more TAX plus the devaluation of the dollar, - South Texas Assemblies Review

RV- Again Anti-Christ will be religious and not Christian (Christ-Like). Our nation is comprised of Christian people because the foundation of America is the true Christianity of Jesus Christ. But this nation has become a religious nation. People from other nations have entered into this nation with there little gods. They now have citizenship with voting rights. These rights are now changing our foundation. We have become a religious nation having to accept all religious Laws. The Christian church will sooner or later not be able to preach or teach salvation through the blood of Jesus, or preach or teach about holiness in the true God because this has become offensive and politically incorrect. The bottom line is that the world desires a deity they can control. RY- Increasing moral decay throughout the world to include abortion, violence, pandemic divorce, the dissolution of the family unit, homosexuality, and pedophilia. RV- The Homosexual community continues to force this altered lifestyle to the point to where it has forced this society to accept it as a way of life. When you have religious leaders saying that "Most people are born heterosexual." MOST people? This statement means that some people are just born this way, as homosexuals. I don't think so! All people are born heterosexual! Homosexuality is a choice! It is an abomination to God. Television news agencies promoting gay news anchors as a “feather in their hat” and being accepted. Sitcoms promoting homosexuality as normal to the viewers, and now have books in school libraries that teach our students it is ok to be gay. RY- The growth of a spirit of Anti-Semitism throughout the world including much of the organized Christian church today. RV- When a Christian nation up to this point has a leader that has been an alley with the nation of Israel and has been a promoter of the Jews and now has turned his back on the Jews, and when a political platform votes God off the agenda and votes that Jerusalem is no longer the capitol of Israel, we have a problem called AntiSemitism. When a dictator who says the nation of Israel must be destroyed off the earth and speaks to the United Nations that Israel has no roots in Palestine, we have a problem. Israel has roots for 4,000 years in Palestine. PAGE 35

RY- An increasing curiosity and dependence on signs and wonders rather than the word of God. A desire to point people to another Jesus, another Gospel. another Spirit. RV- This will be church leaders desiring a strange fire in the Father's House. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12, 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed n o t t h e t r u t h , b u t h a d p l e a s u re i n unrighteousness. There is a famine in the land for the true Gospel to be preached. The purpose of Revival is to get people back to an altar and to let Jesus touch His church, instead of people always touching them. We must be careful that in this day we don’t redefine the 5 gifts Jesus gave to the church. APOSTLES- church planters with the control like deity to be whatever appeals to the flesh. PROPHETS- to become fortune tellers to tell people who are not worthy of the blessings of God & to speak “smooth sayings.” EVANGELIST- called to come in as entertainers to perform circus acts and pull rabbits out of a hat. PASTORS- to be just motivators. TEACHERS- passing along to this generation distorted or false doctrines that have crept in under the radar. We are in the closing hours of God's Grace my friend. The year of 2013 may very well be the year of Jubilee. This book has stirred this Evangelist to be more committed than ever before. We are like Israel of old, standing on the banks of Jordan, with the Promised Land in our sights. This is our greatest day to be an Assembly of God church in our communities. Let's not only have a desire to be a Mega church, but let's remember why God birthed the Assemblies of God. It was to reach our world for Jesus. He has called each one of us not to division but to be in one accord and to fulfill the great Commission young and old. We have been called for such a time as this. Let's go back to our altars and seek the will of God concerning our callings as Watchmen on the walls of Salvation. Revival is a must in these closing hours of Grace. It is our belief that repentance is meant to be a part of the Christian life, and as we become aware of our imperfections, we endure rather than resist God's refining process in our lives. Let's keep blowing the trumpet! Until next time "Let's Have Revival", it is good for your soul! Evangelist Rod Vincent, South Texas Evangelist Representative
