1. THE VORONOI PLACE LOCATION: Vashi, Sec-6 YEAR: 2020 SEMESTER: 6 TYPE: Library and Digital Conveinience store, Architectural Design

Figure 1 :Ground floor plan with the site context and neighbourhood. 03

The project was to design a Library and a Digital conveinience centre having facilities like Childcare centre, Office cubicles, Art gallery and cafes in a crowded area in Dadar, Mumbai.Th site is surrounded by both skyscrapers and traditional Mumbai Chawls and houses. The concept behind this structure was parameters which was again abstracted from thinking which can be related as one of the activities happening in libraries , the Voronoi pattern was used to create the form of the building which in turn is again evolved from the seven islands of Mumbai. This was done taking the site context into consideration and using it to evolve the design , thus a building whose different floor plans form a melody of open , semi-open and closed spaces. These semi-open and open spaces of balconies and roof terraces again create a user-interactive design.

Figure 9 : Strip sectional 3d of Lobby

The use of sitting mats , pillows and mats in libraries for adult and children creates a comfortable and user-friendly ambience. The organic forms of the different floors creates spaces for the different amenities to be organic and multi-functional. The facade ordained with windows enough to help with the air ventilation in the building having air-conditioned facility is to make the building self-sustainable , and allow natural sunlight into the spaces. The presence of courtyards both- inner(shaft) and outer in the design brings in cooler air through the stack effect. The green plant beds along the outer veranda help in purifying the air as well as blocking out the harsh sunlight, making the design specific to hot and humid climate of Mumbai.

2. WE WORK , WE FOCUS LOCATION: Khandeshwar YEAR: 2019 SEMESTER: 5 TYPE: Co-working centre with amenities, Architectura Design

The brief was to design a co-working centre having facilities like Library, Cafe and public space for people in Khandeshwar near the Khandeshwar railway station. The site had a natural water body and water canal adjoining it. The concept of the design was focus of a circle since a co-working centre is not only a focal point of people from different cultures but also of ideas and innovation. The focal point was used to design a curvilinear/ radial form of building which had the natural water body as the focal point as well as the feature of the design itself thereby inculcating the site context in the process. Pathways were provided around the site was the people and play area for children. In orde to make the design sustainable and climate specific, semi-open corridors, balconies, pergolas , inner courtyards were made to encourage ventilation of air , bring in cool air and to engage the stack effect. The water body is used as a source for cool air , skylight illuminating the lobby makes the entrance of the building grand and magnificent.

The amphitheatre like space extending from the cafe, which looms underground the water body creating an aquarium like effect making the design more mysterious. The double heignted space of the amphitheatre is overlooked by the library on the upper floor. The glass wall of the amphitheatre not only provides peek into the under-waters but also the sky above.

The pergolas, semi-open corridors , double heighted lobby makes the space interactive. The plant beds along the facade as well as the inner duct make the design more climate specific -by purifying air, preventing direct sunlight to enter the rooms.

3. THE SOFT STREET LOCATION: Vashi, Sec-6 YEAR: 2019 SEMESTER: 6 TYPE: Street Analysis and character, Humanities

The selected site area was comprising of the residential housing typologies, the street in between the housing and the garden space connecting to it. The pedestrian route between these landmarks intersects with the main axis of road , which generates a series of urban voids. The research on these residential typologies and it’s street character describes the behaviours and spatial qualities such as soft and the hard edges of the site . Understanding the qualities of how useful the edges are to create a active public space was the aim behind this study. Along the fragment of teh site, there are many such edges which provide an opportunity for future interventions. These spaces create a network of public spaces which generate quality connector spaces through a consisitent green space in between and material palette.

10. HANDS-ON WORK YEAR: 2017-2020

The studio was heavily hands-on because of which we got to work on models, carving which helped a lot in learning visvualisation of design and it’s completion through model making. Study Tour documentations helped in understanding team work and the importance of it. Travelling to different cities, workshops helped me a lot in building my personality, skills and experiences.
