Every Child's esigning a room for a child may be an enjoyable task, but it is definitely not an easy one. The likes and dislikes of children change often as they grow up, and their requirements too change. Garima Agarwal, an enterprising young lady from Chennai, started PeekA-Boo Patterns to fill that vaccum that existed in the city of Chennai, in terms of furnishings for children’s rooms. She believes Peek-A-Boo is not just a store to shop in, but a place which gives children a wholesome learning experience as they choose the décor for their rooms. Garima tells us how she evolved the concept of Peek-A-Boo and how it turned out to be a huge success story. Tell us about your background? I am basically from Kolkata and I grew up there. I am really thankful to my school in Kolkata MHS which gave me a platform to excel in compulsory subjects like needlework, art, craft and clay modelling. I learnt a lot there. I did B.com in college along with a fashion designing diploma in the evenings. I married Ajay Agarwal and moved to Chennai. I have two lovely children, Ridhi and Kunal, who keep me and my venture inspired. How did you decide to start PeekA-Boo Patterns? When I was trying to design a room for my children, I went around the market in Chennai looking for good designs in furnishings I realised there was hardly anything available in Chennai. And I also believe that children’s likes change so much as they grow up, that it is pointless investing in furniture each time. I believe it is furnishings which can make the difference. One could rather have Mickey Mouse bed spreads, pillow covers and curtains and then switch over to a Super Man as they grow up rather than have a Mickey Mouse bed which becomes useless after the child’s liking changes to a Super Man. The investment in furnishings is more sensible any day. Peek A Boo was started as a store for curtains, blinds and other furnishings. But we have been so popular with kids that we have expanded our range extensively.
What is the USP of your store? Our USP is definitely uniqueness, the fact that we customise designs to the child’s likes, bright hues, and most importantly that our merchandise is all very meaningful. How do you think a child’s room should be designed? Should we concentrate on furniture or furnishings? A room has to be spacious, well-ventilated, comfortable, easy-to-maintain, clutter-free, pleasant and exciting for today’s kids and yet have enough storage for all their gadgets, craft things and toys. Hence one has to concentrate on furniture, but furnishings play an equal role - it’s the way to get the aesthetics right as well as ensure various practicalities like built-to-grow rooms are created! What are the other products you stock at Peek-a-Boo?
Since a kid’s world is full of fantasies so are my designs. It is difficult to really choose a few, but I
like broadly the ones close to nature like spring, animal safari, under the sea .etc. As for products, it is difficult again ... let’s say all that gives me a canvas to dabble. What do you think has made your business so successful? I think the reasons for my success are my passion for kids, creativity and of course my team who stand by me always.
- Shivani Arora
Garima Agarwal
The store also keeps various accessories to go with the look of the room such as variety of wallpapers from UK, beanbags from Jelly beans (Mumbai), lovely range of clocks by NeXtime (Netherlands), customised rugs from Kazage (Kolkata), leather goods from designer Bhavna Jasra (Mumbai), photo frames and stationery items from Onset (Kolkata), scrapbooks and gift tags from Mad About Design (Chennai), pegs, magnets and other gift boxes, wall decor stickers – imported. We have heard that Peek-aBoo has expanded to other cities... We have over 1800 clients in India and abroad and also supply to stores like, L’Orange (Pune), Sandbox (Mumbai), Bumblebee (Mumbai), Greenbells (Mumbai), Kazage (Kolkata) and Blissful Beginnings (Sri Lanka).

abies are often associated with fragility, delicacy and charm; and all of these elements are very graciously and cheerfully blended together in the latest baby store in the city, Bloo Pink. So if you are on the lookout for some attractive, colourful and cute baby goodies, walk in to one of these stores to find exactly what you want for your baby. Before purchasing anything for the baby, the most essential aspects to remember are safety and quality. With that in mind, you can now be assured that you’ll get everything from cute apparel to the most enjoyable toys and some extremely robust food supplements. Bloo for the baby boys and Pink for the baby girls, everything from even the name of the store to how it meant to look and obviously of course the ambience is meticulously detailed to ensure that every mother feels an air of comfort and ease to shop the best products for her kid, or kid to come. Honestly, when I walked through the aisles of this store in the heart of Anna Nagar, I could not but go green about the really adorable collection. It is not just the clothes that are too-cute-too-cheery, but also others like baby care
par with the other stores dealing with the similar product range. Go get some of these really cute stuff for your little prince or princess and see them take their fist steps in style. - Puja Prakash
‘For baby and me’, it is, for they also have sections that furnish specific needs of the mother as well. So believe me, it is a one-stop shop for all your needs from when you are pregnant to when you deliver of your baby and till when your baby turns four. Certainly not on the expensive side, this store has all its products priced reasonably mostly at

products, bedding products, feeding bottles, mother care items, baby utility things, toys, pushchair, and even food are equally catchy and certainly of a laudable quality. ”We believe in giving the best to our customers, because we understand what they feel,” said Ms. Asha Natarajan, Assistant Manager – Marketing. This niche chain outlet which is just taking its ‘baby steps’ is perhaps doing a better job because it enjoys the benefit of freshness and novelty. Bloo Pink, a nascent venture, I should say is an exclusive place to go gaga for your dear new born. They have a distinctive product range that caters to babies in the age group of 3- 5 alone. I was in fact surprised that there was not a single product that could be used for babies above the age of three which makes it totally one-of-a-kind. Ms. Asha unassumingly confessed, “we know our shoppers well, and have products that only typically suit them; we choose top satisfy them entirely leaving no lags.” So you need to be there to know how they help you choose what is best for your little gem.

What has Apple’s iPad got for you?
T
he iPad
The latest tablet computer hot off the shelves of Apple has got people talking about it - for what it flaunts and also for what it doesn’t. Let’s have a sneak peak into this haute product. The look The screen is eye-catching, with almost four times the size of your Ipod’s touch screen ( 1024 x 768). The screen measures 9.7 inches diagonally. At just 1.5 pounds and 0.5 inch thin, it’s like a Mac bro that you can snuggle with in your couch. The touch The Multi-Touch screen on your iPad works almost similar to that of your iPhone. Only this time, it’s much more precise and faster. So be it flicking through your photos, checking your email or just zooming the map, this genie obeys every touch of your finger with accuracy . Brownie Points So, you can read books, check email, flip pictures, check maps, but other tablets could do it as well. But, what’s the surprise package in this one? - Web browsing for one thing is quite fast, it is as good as browsing on your laptop (yeah, it’s way better than the Ipod or Iphone version) - The maps application works surprisingly well for a tablet. - Apple has promised a battery life of ‘up to 10 hours’ which is quite good for an LCD-based, Wi-Fi device. Hoping that promises are kept, that’s another score for Ipad!
-
- Ipad’s screen augurs well for your eyes if you are planning to use it as an E-reader, the display works better than Kindle. - Check out Apple’s Iwork suite - they have thought of your presentations and excel sheets as well. Their painting application Brushes is another interesting add-on. - Their almost full-size virtual keyboard was another workable surprise, it lets you type at ease.

Missing in action! These guys sometimes fail to live up to our expectations. Well, here’s a list of things that they forgot to add on this one.
No flash support, that rules out quite a lot of websites like Hulu and others. - The promised 16, 32, and 64 GB capacities sound good, not if you are planning to store HD videos on this one.
-Your desire to use it as a teleconferencing device goes down the drain as they have forgotten the video cam. Not very convenient, right?
- The last one is a big let-down – No muti-tasking. So, you can’t check your email while the spreadsheet is open. This one is sure to make people think twice before grabbing a Ipad.
- Their Brush application is cute, but creative people (like us) would still love to have that stylus. There is still no better way to draw and take notes than with the stylus.
Their 16 GB device starts at $499. This device doesn’t seek to replace your Mac or Ipod, it comes as something between the two. You can buy this Ipad if you can’t wait for their updated sequel. - Catherine Gilon

INTO BLUE THE

lways wanted a small aquarium but never got around to actually creating one? Read on, for we give you all the right reasons and right answers to starting it right away! I still remember the day when my school authorities unveiled a beautiful fish tank with goldfishes and guppies. My principal said it would help us cope with all the stress and we students soon found ourselves staring hypnotically at the fishes without ever questioning what the principal said. Of course today the therapeutic value of having a small home, office or school aquariums have been proved beyond doubt. In spite of the proven benefits, people stay away from creating an aquarium because of few reservations and even wrong notions. We hope that this article helps you make a move to the nearest aquarist to create the aquarium that you always wanted! Of Peace and Prosperity
Aquariums are not just decorative additions to homes and offices anymore. Medically, aquariums are said to have a soothing effect on the minds of people, hence they are often found at hospitals, clinics, office spaces and even at high schools where students have to deal with exam and peer
pressure. Researchers have compared the effects of hypnosis to having an aquarium, having a fishless one to fish filled aquariums, and having no aquarium to having an aquarium. In all cases, any form of aquarium reduced the blood pressure levels of people around. Dental patients who were subjected to hypnosis showed more stress levels normally than when they were asked to look at an aquarium while being treated! Aquariums are thus used to not only reduce hypertension but also blood pressure and effect of Alzheimer’s on the elderly. Well the fishy part about having an aquarium is the other fringe benefits associated with it! Take for instance Feng Shui. The Chinese rules that govern spatial arrangements recommends the use of aquariums with particular kinds of fishes to maximise prosperity in the house. For instance, one black fish is recommended in every fish tank to absorb any surrounding negative energy. The aquarium also represents the balance of the five elements. Water (water in the fish tank), earth (the soil, gravel or pebbles that form the base of the tank), wood (represented by the plants in the aquarium), metal (the very framework of the tank) and fire (represented by the lights used in the aquarium.)

eans are one of the most versatile and fashionable forms of clothing, and often transcend age, economic and style barriers. Not only are they always in style, but if you pick the right pair, you can look cool, chic and even sophisticated! We know- jeans are jeans! No big deal right? Just grab your size off the shelf and get to the billing counter. Maybe in a perfect world, that pair of jeans would fit like a glove. But in the real world, waistbands can pinch, buttons may not quite do up and zips can get stuck. And if these problems aren’t enough, you now have about a million many cuts and styles to choose from. With boot cuts to boyfriend and skinny jeans to low rise ones; how do you choose the right pair that best fits and flatters? Picking the right pair Finding that perfect pair of jeans is not easy, because there are so many parts that need to fit just right. The waist, thigh, length, inseam and backside need to fit perfectly for the jeans to work for you. The key is to balance out your body shape. Avoid skinny jeans unless you have the shape
(narrow hips) to carry it off. Look for a waist that buttons or snaps easily when you are both standing and sitting down. Wide waistbands are good to hide an apple stomach, and high-waisted jeans do a lot for lengthening the leg. If you wear low-rise jeans, make sure they don’t bind your waist too tight, or you’ll create ‘muffin’ effect over the top. Remember that your jeans should be long enough to wear with any kind of footwear; they should reach the top of your shoes in front. A slight flare looks good on just about every body type. Never choose jeans that are too bulky or baggy as they are very unflattering on the figure. Stretch jeans are not only comfortable but also work with all body shapes. When in doubt go for the classic five-pocket jeans or a relaxed fit, medium rise pair. Most importantly, love how they feel on you! Style Mantra Jeans come in different styles and fits and change often depending on the current fashion trends. Some popular cuts and fits are:
Skinny jeans – these jeans look great when you have a long-legged boyish figure.
You and your jeans
The seventies style flared, wide legged jeans - they not only look great with fitted tops, but also offer comfort and versatility. Want a sexier, slimmer silhouette? Go flared!
- Don’t choose jeans that are either too short or too long. The hem should cover most of your shoe.
Low rise jeans – Want a leaner, longer look? Low rise jeans sit low on or below the hips and work on all body types. Not only are they comfortable and sexy, as the waistband of these jeans fits lower on the waist, they’re also a lot less restrictive that high-waist jeans. Boot cut jeans – a timeless fashion staple that are slim through the legs, with a slight flare at the ankle to accommodate a boot. Boyfriend jeans – these jeans are supposed to look baggy, worn and distressed, and are perfect to show off a boyish figure.
- Darker colours are more slimming while excessively light denims can actually add bulk.
- The back pockets should not add ugly bulk or make the bottom look too large. - Embellishment may not always work, so don’t go in for any if it doesn’t flatter your figure. De-code your Jeans - Jeans were called “waist overalls” or just “overalls” until 1960 when Levi Strauss changed it to its popular name of “jeans.” - The one pair of jeans that almost everyone can wear successfully: boot cut - One of the biggest mistakes a girl makes when buying jeans is not taking along a friend or sister. - Remember not to get hung up on a designer label. Jeans need to fit even if it means a cheaper pair! - May 20th of every year is considered to be the official ‘birthday’ of blue jeans as it was the day that Levi Strauss, Levi’s jeans inventor and the owner of the idea of riveted jeans pants Jacob Davis received patent of the rivets no.139,121 from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. - 215 pairs of jeans can be made with only one bale of cotton. - Most jeans today are stonewashed, but not in pumice stones like the original method. Now enzymes, sand, ceramic balls and other methods give jeans their worn look. - Aishwarya Shankar

A Fishy Surprise! Drive down to Mahabalipuram for a fishy surprise at Moonrakers, a quaint seafood restaurant. oonrakers set shop in 1994 and there has been no turning back since then. This quaint little restaurant grew from thatched hut into a wonderfully decorated concrete restaurant that is as interesting as the the East Coast Road itself. There is a varied collection of curios mounted on the wall including the steering wheel of a ship! The ambience is extremely
beachy with shades of cream offset by natural dark woods. Of course, the most obvious connection to the beach is all the delectable seafood ready to be devoured after the long drive from the city. Mari, the chef at Moonrakers informs us that there is literally every variety of
seafood available in the restaurant. Since the restaurant attracts both foreign tourists and locals from Chennai, Pondicherry and Mahabalipuram, it serves up both Western and Indian seafood recipes. “We can alter our dishes according to the requests and tastes of the clients.” He also informs us that the masalas that are used for flavouring the seafood are custom made at the restaurant. Excited enough, we went ahead to try out the Tava Calamari, Grilled Pomfret, some vegetable noodles and fried rice along with some fresh fruit juice. The dishes were presented well and looked extremely inviting. The grilled pomfret was tender with just
that delectable bit of crispiness and the suitable amount of spice and seasoning. On a scale of one to ten, this would score a perfect ten. The fried rice and noodles tasted just right too. The Tava Calamari was nicely done but could do with a little lesser oil. To finish off, we went for some fluffy pancakes and fruit salad- a delicious treat on a hot day. All in all Moonrakers is a great place to chill out with friends and family or make a pit stop if on the way to Pondicherry. The best part however is the proximity to the sea which assures that there is a fresh catch of fish day after day!

What’s in a name? Wondering why they have named it Moonrakers, here is the fascinating story. It is said that 800 years ago soon after the inception of neighbouring Seaford as an affiliate of the Cinque Ports and the King raising duties on various goods to pay for a navy, that smuggling became rife in Alfriston. One night, a group of local smugglers making their way across the fields were tipped off that a customs officer was in the area. Silently, they wrapped their contraband of fine foods, silver plates, wines and spices in oiled water-proof cloths and dropped them into a shallow dew pond, where the goods remained hidden. The following night by the silvery light of the Spring moon the smugglers could be seen raking the water to find their treasures which they then carried back to the village. Similarly, Moonrakers looks for local treasures as he scours the excellence of good local produce to create every day’s menu. All the ingredients are sourced from within a 25 mile radius of the restaurant, and the menu combines traditional dishes cooked with a modern and inventive style.

How safe is your Bottled Water?
First, what is mineral water? Mineral water is one that is sourced from one or more borewells or spring, originating from a geologically and physically protected underground water source and contains at least 250 parts per million total dissolved salts (TDS). Salts, sulphur compounds and gases are among the substances that can be dissolved in water. The more the minerals, the harder is the water, while fewer minerals make it soft. Then Water is purified by means of distillation, deionization, reverse osmosis or other suitable processes. In distillation, water is heated until it vaporises. After condensing, it is free of any dissolved minerals. Deionization is a process in which water is passed through resins which remove most of the dissolved minerals. In Reverse Osmosis, high pressure forces the water through membranes which remove about 90% of the dissolved solubles.
cost ; and the label rarely indicates the source. Metrowater supplies 9000 litres potable water for just Rs.600, but a onelitre bottle in shops costs not less than Rs.12. The reader can calculate the profit that some of the bottled water suppliers make . Centre for Science and Environment, a New Delhi based public interest research and advocacy organisation, recently discovered that bottled water, both national and multinational brands , had pesticide residues above acceptable limits. Samples of water sold by five leading brands were tested to see if they contained two kinds of pesticides: organochlorine and organophosphorus pesticides. An extremely toxic chemical was found in quantities exceeding the maximum permissible limits by huge margins in each of the samples. It is a sad fact that not all in the bottled water industry are following the regulated process despite the fact that there are a lot of checks done at every stage. There is indeed a strict licensing procedure that is based on the infrastructure facilities such as the unit’s in-house testing laboratory to conduct on-site tests and bacteriological tests on a regular basis. Surprise inspections are conducted and samples drawn from both factory and market are tested for quality control.
Now comes the safety issue. Consumers may not know that some bottled or packaged water they drink may not be as pure as they think. Some take water from borewells sunk in unhygienic surroundings. How good is the quality of such water? In many cases, water is sourced from metrowater and sold at hundred times the original

Mobile service provider fined A mobile service provider was asked by a District Consumer Forum to pay Rs. 1,000 for the inconvenience it caused to a mobile consumer by rendering deficient service. Raghu, a city-based mobile consumer, filed a petition in the forum, stating that his mobile connection was disconnected by the service provider for no fault of his. Besides, the service provider also changed his mode of connection from pre-paid to post-paid without his consent. The Forum found fault with the service provider and held that deficiency in service was sufficiently established in the case. Compensation for delay: A District Consumer Redressal Forum directed the Collector, District Civil Supply Officer and the Town Supply Officer to pay compensation to a complainant for the inordinate delay in renewing a ration card. The petitioner had applied for renewal of her ration card in 2005 but it was not renewed till April 2007. In order to know the fate of the application, clarification was sought from the supply office under the Right to Information Act in April 2007. But as there was no response, the petitioner filed a case with the forum. The Town Ration Card had renewed the ration card on February 18, 2008. On hearing the case, the District Forum observed that it was deficiency of service and ordered the officials to pay a compensation of Rs.10,000 for the mental agony to the consumer , fine of Rs.10,000 for deficiency in service and Rs.5,000 as costs within three months.

The BIS certification has become mandatory for packaged drinking water and packaged natural mineral water and there are separate standards for both. These lay down the parameters to be tested for and adhered to, and ensure quality. The manufacturer is required to meet the BIS norms for packaged natural mineral water (IS13428) and packaged drinking water (IS14543) to meet the required standards for physical, chemical and toxic as well as radioactive residues. In both the standards, the parameter for pesticide residues says that “pesticide residues as covered under the relevant rule of the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act (PFA), 1954 shall be ‘below detectable limits’ when tested in accordance with relevant methods.” The 18th edition of the PFA, published in 2002, also says that pesticides should be “below detectable limits”. Pesticide residues in water consumed over a period of time will have severe effects on the human immune system and no wonder children are taken ill quite often. (To be continued)

ecently, a team of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) officials seized several 20-litre drinking water containers with fake ISI marks during a raid on a packaged drinking water unit in Mudichur near Tambaram . The BIS officials found that water was marketed under different brand names from the unit which was operating without a valid licence to use the ISI mark. Since packaged drinking water marketing has become a thriving business, hundreds of brands claiming to be safe ozonised drinking water, are available in the market today. And in many roadside paan-shops, one can get cold water packets for just a rupee. How safe is such water ?

Fill'em Up! Regular or Premium, which is your choice?
“
100 Rs please” “Sir, try our premium petrol; gives you more mileage and keeps your engine smooth” “But what is the difference?” You do not know the difference and neither does the petrol assistant, though he will tell the above mentioned script to all ye racers. So what difference does it really make?
in most of the cars and bikes, it is simply a waste of money to fill them with premium fuels, which make no evident difference in the performance against the regular ones. Engines will not require higher octane levels than they could handle. So obviously, there is no benefit when they are loaded with premium fuel with high octane levels.
RON – Road Octane Number is the rating given for different aspects of the fuel. Unless your engine has got the correct petrol with the right amount of RON, it’s unnecessary to opt for premium fuel. Usually high performance cars require premium fuels as a standard. And they will be the ones who profit most with better performance and quicker acceleration. Yet if you load your vehicle with higher octane fuel than the engine can manage, it will result in a faster wear-out. This is because premium fuels use higher combustion rate than their regular counterparts and this will affect the engine if it is not designed to handle the combustion rate.
But how do the premium fuels increase your vehicle’s efficiency? It will, if it is recommended by your vehicle manufacturer. It is always best to follow the manufacturer’s guide to get the best out of your ride. First thing to note is whether the premium fuel will benefit your car. Because
On the brighter side, the premium fuels cause less pollution and maintain cleaner engine with their additives. And yes, the use of premium fuels does increase your performance, very slight increase at that. They burn better and give you better drive. And your car should be suited to acquire the best of the premium fuels. The octane ratings of petrol varies from 87, 88 till 97. Higher
PREMIUM
In India, though leaded petrol has been stopped from production, unleaded petrol has been evolving to different types. Choosing the petrol for your vehicle tends to get knotty with every petroleum brand offering various regular and premium fuels. Likewise diesel has also got its own variants. To decide upon this, we have to know the octane rating of the fuel. Octane rating is basically the ability of the fuel to resist engine knocking. Knocking happens when the combustion process of the fuel starts before it should. And this is where premium fuels come into play with their high levels of refinement and efficiency.
the number, higher is the level of refinement and higher the price. Well to conclude, the regular fuel is much suited for our common vehicles with no rocketing features. But premium fuels, with their additives like friction busters, are the best match if you own a high performing bike or a car. The choice is yours! - Balasubramaniam N

What do ? ? we eat? ‘Restore’ in Adyar provides a platform for produce from natural farming t Brinjal has been creating quite a storm, with the government yet to decide on the genetically modified crop. Critics say that lack of crucial labeling regime and the lack of testing these crops make it a dangerous alternative. This debate also highlights another issue that has been sidelined for a while, the effect of pesticides on human beings. How many of us know for sure that the food we take is safe? The very fruit that looks nutritious could turn out to be unhealthy, if it is contaminated by pesticides and chemical additives. Restore, in Adyar is a NGO that seeks to provide organic food (obtained through natural farming) to the commoner. Mr. Ananthu, one of the Founders of this NGO insists that it is the plight of farmers who took up natural farming that initiated them to start this venture in 2008. Farmers who use natural methods of farming and processing need to put in more manual labour. But in the end, their produce is sold along with other pesticide loaded produce in local markets. For a farmer who cares for the fertility of the soil and the health of his customers, he gains nothing in the end. With all the mechanisation and chemicals, others can produce three times his produce. Restore’s organic bazaar seeks to provide a platform for such farmers. Here, they are given an opportunity to sell their organic produce to people who value it. Another volunteer at Restore says that they cannot put a price tag on the poor farmer’s efforts, hence they never negotiate with the farmer. What if it’s little pricey, isn’t our health and the fertility of our soil more important than a few extra rupees? Restore’s Retail wing Restore procures organic food products and staple grains such as rice, pulses and dhals, wheat and wheat flour, millets, cold-pressed oils, jaggery etc sourced from small and marginalised farmers in and around Chennai. They run a daily shop and also hold bazaars twice a week where they sell fresh vegetables and fruits. A variety of greens (keerais) , delicious

Freshly ground flour in small
quantities is also made available every week at their shop and bazaars. If you drop in at their store, you will see volunteers busy with billing, some of them arranging
catering organic food for small functions. They also arrange farm visits for city to experience field work, hands-on. Restore sure doesn’t lack in spirit -- they only need more hands to make this venture work for the benefit of both the farmer and the common man.

Holiday!
The humour quotient does it again for the Venkat’s tribe.
I
f it’s gully cricket in ‘Chennai 600028’ and kidnap mishap in ‘Saroja’, it’s pure fun and fun only in ‘Goa’. It tells about the (mis)adventures of three young guns – Jai as Vinayakam, Vaibhav as Ramarajan and Premji as Samikannu. Samikannu is regarded as the child of God (Deivakuzhanthai); Vinayakam is a US-loving englissss speaking wastrel; Vaibhav is a womaniser. The movie starts with the trio convicted for trying to go out of their village during a festival for the nth time. This urges them to go to Madurai and spend a week without any other hassles. There they get shocked by their friend getting married to a foreign woman. Spirited with the same, they decide to go to Goa, get married to foreign women and settle abroad. There comes the rural-to-urban transformation of the scenes and of our heroes as well. With determined goals, the three of them go in search of their lady-loves in the beaches and pubs of Goa. Did they attain their goals forms the rest of the story. Premji is his vibrant self and steals the show as Samikannu. His spoof on movies is
hilarious and is sure to bring the roof down. Jai is refreshing, and with his English and Hindi dialogues, evokes laughs every time. Vaibhav is apt and funny at times as well. The flow of the scenes is smooth and enjoyable. Sampath surprises us in the role of a homosexual. Though the gay parts are a bit overboard sometimes, Sampath and Arvind Akash play their characters with panache. Dressed always in above-knee skirts and shorts, Pia is cute and sexy. Melanie is vibrant and emotes well than most of our own Tamil heroines. Sneha’s part, which was touted to be a surprise one, fails miserably. Though looking good, Sneha doesn’t have anything to do than to look serious. Special appearances by Prasanna, Nayan Tara and Simbhu (no, they don’t come together) add spice to the chirpy cocktail.
So far every Venkat Prabhu movie has been able to retrieve the audience for more. And Goa is no different. The movie starts off slowly and gains speed as it moves on. Though the second part is dragging at some parts (everyone has been saying that), the whole content is an enjoyable one.
